The next James Bond

For me there was 2 1/2 good Craig films. casino Royale, Skyfall and parts of NTTD.

QoS, well, the less said the better. Spectre, forcing the story arc of Spectre just because they'd got the Spectre rights back was a mistake.

NTTD had good parts, but another over arching villain of the entire era above Spectre and above Quantum, it had gotten ridiculous by that point.
I loved Casino Royal. I really thought they'd struck gold there. Then came QoS. What a shocker. The only Bond film I've watched once. Skyfall had some excellent parts and Spectre lost it's way half way through. I will not forgive NTTD.

That's just weird šŸ¤£

Roger Moore was actually my Bond growing up and I've enjoyed Bond for years. I actually loved Timothy Dalton's Bond so Craig was a good choice for me.

I loved Dalton too, living daylights is one of my favourites. I really liked Craig as bond, its just his films I just found poor. I think I liked qos as it was quite short and tight story, plus had some good set pieces.

For me it went

Pierce brosnan, Dalton, moore (my fav as a kid), Craig, connery and Lazenby.

I don't get the arguments that Craig had no sense of humour. I found plenty of humour in his films.

The films have been around for 60years and they've managed by staying current. Bond of the 70's is a very different creature to Bond of 2020 and as such should never be compared.

My biggest gripe with NTTD is that it would have been perfect if they'd said they were never making another Bond film again. It was just an odd to stick that film in a franchise that has no intention of stopping making films.

My order of Bonds ...

1) Connery
2) Dalton
3) Brosnan,Craig, Moore,Lazenby šŸ„“

Id love Paul Mascal or Aaron Taylor Johnson. Both great actors, not too known celebrity wise and young and not A List Hollywood which I think it good for the Bond Role.

Both were rumoured in the running but then so many are. Id have love Damien Lewis or Idris too but apparently too old. Which is a shame because they would have me glued.

Ive not heard any talk on it lately though.

Idris would be my first choice but heā€™s obvs too old for the role now. Shame. Would quite like to see James Norton give it a go.

james norton honestly seems the most likely to me - he has the right/classic vibe, is the right sort of age, and is the right level of famous.

would like rege-jean page (but donā€™t think he has the acting ability tbh), henry golding was a very good shout from the celeb gossip thread though. i think dev patel is šŸ”„ and could do it justice, but i think any non-white actor cast would just get ā€œlol woke castingā€ stuff and i donā€™t know if itā€™s worth it.

i feel like richard madden could have been decent but, as said above, i donā€™t think they would ever pick an openly bi bond.

I can picture Matt Smith as James Bond.

I always thought Ralph Fiennes would be a good Bond. He's too old now , but at least he was M.

Peirce Brosnan is my favourite.

Pierce is my favourite too, although I think Timothy Dalton is underrated too.

Roger Moore is a nostalgic favourite as his were on tv growing up.

Daniel Craig was saddled with poor films but I think he himself was good.

I agree Rege isn't a good enough actor, although his eyebrow acting is impressive lol. Same with Idris, he is very good at version of Luthur but that's it.

Henry Golding could be good I agree, or maybe David Oyelowo (although he maybe too old now)

The more I think about it, the more I think itā€™s gotta be James Norton. Heā€™s slap bang the right age, known, but not too well known, and a brilliant actor. Heā€™d be able to continue to bring the ā€˜realityā€™ to the character that DCā€™s been hailed for. I really want them to go back to the feel of Casino Royale (and even Quantum of Solace! Which I really like, miles more than Spectre and NTTD!) but adding in the MI6 team, that they did in the latter DC films.
Will be interesting to see if any of them return? Would Ralph Fiennes do a ā€˜Judi Denchā€™ and transition from one bond to another, and we just gloss over it?
Iā€™m a huge Bond nerd, Iā€™m waiting with bated breath for news!

Agree re Henry Gold. Heā€™s an excellent actor.

The favourite often never ends up doing it so I do wonder if these rumours are misdirection

I don't know anything about his acting ability but the current second favourite on Oddschecker is Paapa Essediu. Obviously there would be woke accusations but I think he would look the part more than Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

Oh yeah he could be good and more likely I think as he is less of a name. More suitable than Idris Elba
