The Death Penalty

The important thing about someone like Ian Watkins (don’t know why on Earth we’re talking about him Tbf) is that he is kept away from children for life. There is no justification for killing him if he can’t do further harm.
I think you need to read the court reports about this case before you make a comment like that. He was grooming women online and asking them to grape their own children on camera and then send him the videos. He absolutely is a danger to children wether he can physically touch them or not.

Lee Rigby's murderers killed in cold blood and hate.

I know there are cases, one recently I saw on TikTok actually.. a girl spoke of her Grandma, who murdered her own mother. And that case for example, I wouldn't agree with it. Also for the likes of gangs I wouldn't agree with
I didn’t ask what Lee Rigby’s killers did, I asked what if they were groomed or mentally ill?

the evidence is still the same, the circumstances different. You appear to be saying you want them murdered regardless

And now he is jail with no possible chance of release. The death penalty costs far more than what a prison sentence does. The budget of the prison sentence would have to increase, meaning our taxes would have to go up.

Whilst I agree that Ian Watkins is an awful person and I've no doubt he will not be rehabilitated, he wasn't actually convicted of grape. This would bring everyone convicted of sexual assault/child porn/conspiracy to grape into the remit of the death penalty. I honestly am not defending him in the slightest, I just think it might get a bit icky.

I'm pro death penalty BTW but I also understand it would be very difficult to get it right and I'm not sure Ian Watkins is the best example to use. Although I think he should spend his life in prison. Can't believe they moved him back and forth between prisons to be nearer his mum too 🙄

Just my opinion and I'm not the best at explaining what I mean so I hope this makes some sense.
Read the full court reports regarding the Ian Watkins trial. What he did and what he groomed others to do to babies and children is absolutely bleeping abhorrent.

The Ariana Grande one, just using that as an example

Just want to add I am only here for a light hearted talk! I know there's a lot of 'ifs and buts' but I live in the UK and it will never happen here! Just wanan say that :)

I agree with the death penalty in more extreme cases. For example, to me someone who has punched someone too hard and killed them should have a sentence in prison, someone who abused and murdered a child should be put to death.

I understand why others are against it but I've read such horrific things and think sometimes it's the only way. The thought of being a tax payer and paying for such evil people to be fed and clothed makes me angry. I'd much much rather the money goes to putting them to their death.

If someone like Watkins was given the lethal injection the day of conviction then no it doesn’t cost more than a prison sentence. As I’ve repeatedly said I’m not in favour of the American style of death row which keeps prisoners on the row for years at the tax payers expense.

It would not justify beheading someone because of your religion.

I don't appear to be saying that at all. I have said I don't agree in all cases, in the likes of abuse and so on.

But he’s still allowed access to computers/mobile phones etc in jail. It’s an absolute bleeping disgrace.

So you're not wanting people to have a fair trial, where do you draw the line at that? Just kill everyone as soon as they are convicted? Where sobyou draw the line at someone who may be innocent. In America, 4% of people on Death Row are innocent

Please read my previous posts. As I’ve said, I’m talking about the most serious of offences. Where there is absolute proof of that persons guilt.

He had a fair trial. He was convicted. He was guilty.
So, we would have hung the Guildford Four and the Birmingham Six, they had a fair trial, that would be okay with you, despite them being innocent. Where do you draw the line? Who do you kill? Do you only kill someone, then leave the others? Or kill all?

Also the football Ched Evans, would be dead, because he was found guilty of grape, which ended up being false.

I think it’s difficult to have a light hearted chat about capital punishment, it’s such an emotive topic.

So change the prison system then. The Death Penalty is supposed to act as a deterrent, it doesnt, that's why America still has high crimes.
Yes because in America hardly anyone on death row is actually killed because of this stupid appeals process!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s not a deterrent because for the majority they are never killed, they spend 30 odd years living a comfortable life in jail with full access to TVs/internet/games consoles/food/healthcare etc etc
