I don’t think people are necessarily looking for PDA on camera. I for one cannot stand that. We are only looking at what Dan has chosen to show us on camera. For me there seems to be a lack of kindness shown. Someone mentioned he overruled her buying flowers. He seems to always take an exasperated deep breath seemingly annoyed when he mentions he has the children. Like he is being inconvenienced. Pointing out the things that Analisse did or did not do. Juxtaposed with him out gallivanting with La Jarvis, Amaury etc. Earlier in his vlogs this certainly did not seem to be present. None of us are able to see behind closed doors so none of us know what is truth or fiction. IMO.
Just looked like typical British humour to me.

Dan goes to Brico nearly as much as he goes to the chateau, so I'm going to speculate that it has nothing to do with picking up supplies, that's all smoke and mirrors, but actually he goes there to see his side squeeze ..... there's my little attempt at making up some gossip.

He looked tired. Doesn’t it seem odd that Amaury his friend doesn’t come and give him a hand. After all he does have construction experience.
I don’t think Fanny would be happy with that. I think that’s why he makes the most of it when he’s at the tit show.
I really didn’t like the way he was with Annalise last night, but I suppose we’d find fault in ourselves and the way we behave if we were to put out lives out there

What I'm not able to get my head around is these flogs, so far, were filmed primarily when Metherdick was at the farmhouse, so what was this whole summer of special advent flogs around Europe about? It makes no sense to put out your most recent content when you could be buying time by posting your pre-recorded footage. I think they must have a secret OF account they've been filming and profiteering from (I daren't google "hag and squirrel porn" though) - it's the only possible explanation... Seriously though, Clara has to be right - something has happened in the background for this to nose dive the way it has, everything feels extremely last minute and very ad hoc, particularly so after the build up to advent. To give SJ credit she does usually imbue previous advents with sentimental ideas and stories of importance around Christmas, but this year it's mostly about her recent shopping hauls. SJ spend your money on replacing the heating you lunatic - everyone is getting frostbite and MPK's turned to drink again to numb the pain.

And yes that mincemeat looked atrocious, Diesel's parting gift?

Also pleased to see everyone looking so cosy wrapped up in their jackets in the winter salon with the electric heater on blast. So comforting.

Don’t worry too much, i am that person ordering too. Asking the staff to double check there isnt chicken stock in the vegetarian soup as im veggie, actually, i dont order soup when im out cuz i dont trust them! I also have no problem sending food back if its too cold, or not as i ordered. I used to work in food service and i think not accepting crap is ok, it teaches the establishment to do better next time. I do it nicely of course, and often get the items removed from the bill. I wont leave bad google reviews though, i think thats a step too far.
The very last time I order meat -I ordered it well done in Avignon 😶 ummmm so.... that didn't work. So I sent it back and it came back seared.... and still breathing... so last time I ordered it. Ever. Ugh. I no longer eat it, never really did but honestly-it was the only non-organ meat thing on the menu!🤢 🤣

From Dan's vlog today!!! I want Tony to go to Lalande SO bad! That would be so worth watching!

Hello Dan, I have questions. I am in no way a carpenter and I don't even live in France but, I don't understand all the trips to the Brico. Maybe I'm missing something but, it seems that a notepad and pencil to make a list of needed items may save you a lot of time and gas.

@Ashley stewart-wright at six sheet of drywall at a time and at least an hour drive then it’s not worth it can you comprehend that! It’s just better to save up then stay at the farm and clean up and organize the mess that needs clearing up and tending too. It’s time and money management!

@Julia Cobb I’m a good problem solver 1)…crayon and big scratch paper off of refrigerator to write list on. You don’t want to let me at that breaking down dump of “19 bedroom” farmhouse that I’d slap the foolishness right out of it!!!

I liked today’s Advent. Felt like one of the original ones. I made the mistake of watching Philips channel and the blue and white table vlog. Bless his heart, he is trying. Maybe he will start “starring” in his own videos as a way to be phased out of CD. He fronts as if this is his chateau. I liked that the video was short. What wasn’t short were his FINGERNAILS!! If there is one thing I cannot stand it’s a man with long fingernails 🤮🤮🤮🤮 he has nicer nails than Fanny!! I am thoroughly disgusted. Rodentia do tend to need their claws for all their rodent activities…

It's an act. It was almost impossible to graduate from Oxford with ADHD 25 years ago, nobody knew how to accommodate and help with their difficulties in learning then.
But Ritalin was around. In the US, at least, it was much less likely to be prescribed to a girl but it was given and resold widely In colleges.

Aw.... that makes me so sad....

Sweet Jesus, if I was Annaliese and my husband was fielding ridiculous calls out of work hours, and at the beck and call of someone for a leak in the middle of the night, I would flip my lid! Actually, my husband worked with a lady who DID phone and email out of hours, until I put my foot down. A few months later she was sectioned… bipolar and undiagnosed and unmedicated for too long. That was a learning curve for us all about boundaries. They have cut ties now and I think Dan needs to put boundsries into place soon. Ive avtually stopped watchign Dans vlogs in the last couple of weeks. I have no interest in his DIY nor do I think he should use his kids to get views for the “cuteness” factor. I was only watching Dans videos for a different view on SJ, but Im not even bothered to see her any more now, all the shine has worn off, im just here for the gossip! Also i need to say I love the cameraderie in this group, you guys are (mostly!) a lovely bunch!
Ya.... I don't think he is interested in putting down boundaries 🤔 I think he likes her fake "glamor" I also don't think he really likes having the responsibility of the kids. I don't like it when people don't properly get married when they have kids. It says something. I just don't .

True, but I would edit myself to always appear in the best light. It’s a vlog, not an actual reality show. Leave the bits in when things go wrong for realism, of course. This arm chair vlogging…I’m so good at it. 😜

I've gone back and watched it again and haven't changed my opinion on it being British humour. There"s no way Annalise would be helping him with the tree, his project etc in the vlog if it was anything else. He would be on his own.

Teabag is on hand to offer his expertise to make a Lalande style afternoon tea - and to fill the kitchen with smoke. He makes a stab at some mediocre scones but didn't bring his toxic Royal Bramble Jam. Good news though is that he discovers that it is possible to top the scones with clotted cream in France. (Goodness knows what time afternoon tea is served at the HMN as it is pitch black when they set off to find some horseradish by torchlight. Even though Dan isn't in work, Fanny can't leave him alone and has to phone him to find out where the horseradish is. (Why does Teabag always walk as though he's wet his pants?) Phiphi makes his usual hash of trying to interpret what he considers to be a table setting for a classic British afternoon tea.
In the absence of the copper infused Jam, they top the scones with the driest looking mincemeat I have ever seen, that resembled rabbit droppings more than the fruity, spicy preserve we know and love.
All in all, better off watching Nick Fairford's afternoon tea rather than Fanny's Midnight feast.
Rabbit droppings secured in place with clotted cream 😋

Not everyone is given to PDAs - I would be absolutely horrified if that was me! I don't think that Dan and Annalise feel that they need to put on a display for the camera . They probably see enough fakery going on at the big house down the road.

Maybe THAT's why Teabag walks the way he does?
In my experience, fellas that have to wear their jeans sagging are hung. I don’t mean the hipsters with the sag look going on, but normal jeans-wearing adults. There’s no room for all their junk if they pull their pants up. I used to write them off as just not having a nice rear end. Little did I know… 🤣🤣

The thing is we do not actually know any of these people we can only judge how they behave on camera. We do not know what they are like in privacy of their homes. For all we know (to borrow an old term) Dan could be henpecked. We can only speculate and critique what they have chosen to show us. He edits so…
We can all agree to disagree. Different lenses.

Day 6 - Afternoon tea at midnight

As a CD video, I think it would have been ok if better edited and stupid Squirrel left completely out but...

WHAT DOES AFTERNOON TEA HAVE TO DO WITH CHRISTMAS???
There was mincemeat & cranberries together no less...they're both festive ingredients, and it was cold outside, what else? Oh yes there were decorations in the kitchen apart from them it had nothing to do with Christmas 🎄

That was a very odd afternoon tea! I don't know what other Brits think but I think it's unusual to have tartare sauce with smoked salmon. It's usually with cooked fish; cream cheese is much more usual with smoked salmon. I still can't get over the mincemeat on scones! Of course, I haven't had afternoon tea at The Ritz or The Savoy but I somehow doubt that they do any of those things! Also, you'd normally eat the savoury sandwiches first, followed by the scones, and finally the cakes. Sometimes, there are tiny pots with desserts in them too. SJ is so unnatural. I do wish she'd stop flapping her arms around and just speak normally instead of putting on such an act.

Ya... but i have worked in reality TV, I know people who work in reality TV and while he controls his own edit-you cannot deep fake any of it -really.... you can't edit that -so yes... but.... you do get a decent feel for people... just like SJ... you don't know her-but you do get a feel.... an essence

Oh... actually it IS one of the things I do for all festive occasions: birthdays, Christmas, ummm dogs birthdays, let's see, when it rains in Southern California 🤔 but yes. Although it's cream cheese and smoked salmon and you cut the crusts off AFTER you make the sandwich so the ingredients go right to the edges. The scones really need jam. They just doo. Tiny tiny desserts including petit fours are a must and REAL clotted cream. You cannot make it. It is my favorite excuse for a meal EVER. Ever. Ever. I am a harsh critic. Good news. We have a place that supplies a certain Duchess here in Socal-even though it's a long haul for them, because they do the real deal.
