It did look lovely - only very good chefs can do offsite prepping well. Many top dos are prepped by the chef and brigade in their professional kitchen.

Soil structure can be improved though if it's poor by the addition of organic material. My soil in my vegetable gardens is deep thick clay. It's on the site of a 19th century brick works. You could fashion a dinner service or several red bricks with no problem. I add layers of compost and manure, bit of sand , leaf mould every autumn, , and it's now fertile. It takes a lot of work, but can be done. The soil at Lalande looks dry and sandy to me and needs work on it.

Today the hubs and daughter became so excited as he finally found the correct manure mix at the Home Depot. I quietly rolled my eyes! As opposed to the loud version that gets them all bent out of shape!

Oooohhh! That's pressed all my buttons! Dekko's daubings are beyond repulsively hideous, in my not so humble opinion. Having them festooned around the house is tantamount to assault on visitors. Quebeois speak our crappy version of "French" as well as the odd French communities outside Quebec, and governments require some government workers (definaltey politicians ) to be bilingual. The rest of us are either forced to learn French from grade 4-9 , some kids are in French immersion and there are the odd French only schools too, but generally, Canadians do not speak French and could care absolutely about speaking it.
Also why do people also think that we all could possibly know each other ? Canada is a massive country

It is funny how people see the same thing and regard it differently. I saw this on TV too. As I recall, the Mayoress had said to her that the Mayor suggested she learn French as it would be helpful to her. She ordered her to go and tell the Mayor she did not have time. It came across to me as being quite rude. All she needed to say was, "I am hoping to learn all I can." and she would have made a better impression. I do agree, she worked hard but I am not at all sure it was all high quality renovation.

Fiona certainly seems fierce and I admire that resiliency. I just couldn’t understand how one person could take on a chateau of that magnitude and in need of repair… like Clara keeps mentioning, “smoke and mirrors”. C4 did a great job portraying Fiona’s strengths but surely she must have hired out for some or much of it . Who knows…

i know this is a srange thing to post but Daddy Jarvis paintings make me wonder if he was sexually involved with his daughter. There are some seriously weird sexual obsessions in them that indicate he was into incest. The fact that Jarvis can't see the pornography indicates a dark repression - perhaps the result of sexual abuse?

Nah...he probably is more responsible for the artists commune dream idea - his art work looks Marc Chagallish. Must be a headache for the commune/artist retreat/workshop idea now that B&B is in play with donating followers, wanting to stay there and have dress ups! Whatever the reality underlying these daubings, 'repression' is precisely the word for the the strong sense I have about Jarvis and Daughter's shared obsession with his subject matter.
