I have a question in my mind whether "sane" and "lalaland" are not oxymoronic

They are indeed, maybe I should say that they appear saner than most, like electrician Ian and like him they just turn up occasionally and then escape to, presumably, saner places as they have a life elsewhere.

On the thumbnail for Marie's vlog tonight about her new branding, there's picture of her van and all it says on the side facing the camera in large letters is: BY MARIE WIIK and then there is a design of some leaves. There is no business name and absolutely no indication of what the business is. There is nothing to suggest that it is a florist or floral designer or whatever else she thinks she is so if you are looking at that side of the van, you would have no idea what the brand is or what product/service she is selling. All you would know is that, whatever the hell she is selling, it's by someone called Marie Wiik!! Maybe it is clear on the other side but if not, there's no clue unless you are meant to guess what it is from the leaves! Also, surely both sides of the van would be the same and if so, there really is no clue at all and no branding, just her name! So much for the company that designed it and so much for Marie if she hasn't cottoned on to it. Of course, there may be some smaller writing somewhere else on the van but it certainly isn't on the side of the van we can see. In the photo, next to Marie is a circle with some other leaves saying something about florals but that is not on the van, Maybe the design of the van wrap hasn't been finished yet but then why show a van with just name on it?


Brilliant! Any one of those would be paarrfect! I can just see both SJ, BJ, and the other lads and girls in those costumes, I can't wait for the wedding of the year. Maybe the carriage could be pulled by hedgehogs and other little forest creatures!

FRK has gotten into such a mess! Of her own making. No plan. Jumping from thing to thing. Paying people to do for her what she SHOULD be able to do for herself ( like make her own business cards). The question is WHAT WILL IT SAY ON THE CARDS? Just her name??? Like the van??

I hear you saying we neeed a benchmark to gauge our sense of normality. I agree fully with you in this case. The sense we have in us when first the truth dawns in our minds that something is not sensible with the channels discussed here. I can't even watch SJ or MP at all anymore. Even their thumbnails give me nausea, ugh...where's my chocolate, my ice cream, bring me a whisky, oh, ok, I'll get it myself...mutter mutter make that a double, then I don't have to get up again!

Yes, presumably the "Success storytelling"/vlogs but if she has a van with advertising on it, you need to know what she's actually offering and the van doesn't have any relevance to the success stories, no other vloggers have vans advertising their "business" so it seems pointless to have anything on it if we don't know what it's advertising. A business expert or a dragon from the den would rip her to pieces. She needs to do a course about business and marketing. I am willing to bet she has no business plan and has not made any financial plans. She can just beg for money from uninformed patrons but if she wanted a business start up loan from a bank or wanted an expert business investor to mentor/support and invest in her, she wouldn't stand a chance. Whatever happens, she will have to register as a company in the UK and she will have to have audited financial accounts; I wonder how she will cope with those! I also wonder what her legal status will be in the UK.

P 18 but please do not concern yourself. My point was that so many valid and brilliant points are made on here, it devalues them if people post nonsense. It is fine to speculate, but when there is no hint, or foundation in what is being said, and only evidence to the absolute contrary, then my view was the post is pointless. It does not even entertain. I know I will be reminded this is a gossip site but no one is interested in stuff unless there is a whiff that it could be possible or even be imaginable. We are really gaining some traction now - as witnessed references in the comments, the new members, the amount of lurkers and the notice taken by the chateau community itself and its commentators. The chateau shenanigans are quite absurd enough without IMHO us adding to it.

Think David is an old friend of SJs. Think he may own a restaurant (not sure). He and Donna always come at the same time and they specialise in vegan & vegetarian cooking, I think. He has two young daughters who also sometimes come. He doesn't appear to be married. I always thought he and Donna were a couple but I think Clara said they weren't. Maybe they just work together. They both appear in a lot of the party photos from years ago. He seems to give SJ a lot of gifts, often Toblerone! They probably stay for free in exchange for cooking. They seem OK, reasonably sane, and are good chefs by the looks of it.

Michael Petherick has agreed to edit it for me and so I can guarantee it will be out this Friday! In the meantime, as a special preview treat for Tattlers, I have a transcript of part of the interview below. Sadly, it did not end well so this will be my last interview - unless I get more patrons for myself. Do you understand? No more interviews unless I get more patrons. Me: Marie. You are my dear friend and I could not resist asking you to be interviewed as part of your own series. Could we start by highlighting your successes?

MWilt: Well, he hee. I have set up a successful flower business.

Me: Wonderful Marie. It must have been difficult raising the capital to start such a venture. How did you go about doing that?

MWilt: Oh it was easy. I just begged on the internet and the money came in.

Me: So no self investment?

MWilt: No. Except I had to buy a jam jar from Emmaus.

Me: I see. Well, people have started successful businesses with very little money. Now you are making a profit from all your clients, your patrons must be delighted that you are now able to stand on your own two feet and presumably continue to expand by re-investing the profits into the business.

MWilt: (Looks exasperated). That is not how business works at all. I don’t need to make any money myself by selling my flowers so I have no clients. Someone once asked me to take them as a customer. I said No. I am too busy.

Me: Oh I do apologise. I thought the idea was you became self sufficient and I thought you had used your profits to buy yourself a car.

MWilt. (Still exasperated). You have a funny idea of business. That is not how it works. I just collect some flowers from the roadside and put them in jam jars. Patrons pay for me to do this. I don’t want to work or have a job or develop a business so my business plan is to continue to take money from my patrons. That way I can pretend I have a business but I don’t have one. I have a brand. Well I have a vision of a brand. It is a different model to the usual patron system. I am so proud of my success in achieving this. My patrons are so pleased with me, they gifted me the car.

Me: OK. So the new business. You seem to be very ambitious starting a second business so soon after the first.

M Wilt: Yes. I am proud of my success.

Me: Did you have any start up costs with that one?

MWilt: No. Stephanie let me use her sitting room for free.

Me: Success Stories. Is that a business you are going to develop into a revenue stream for yourself?

MWilt: No. I am just going to have a chat with a few random people I already know and shove it on Youtube. It won’t attract any attention but I would not want it to. It would make me far too busy.

Me: So how will you fund the continuation of this one?

MWilt: You are not very bright. Patrons will solidify their vision of the brand by becoming top tier contributors.

Me: So your aim is to get patrons to fund everything so that income and profit becomes irrelevant?

MWilt: Goodness yes. He he hee. I am busy running my brand. I simply cannot work any harder.

Me: Do you think it might be a good idea to actually use patron money to create a business so that you can support yourself?

MWilt: DON’T TELL ME WHAT TO DO!
