According to the French news report, his sentence was suspended. So, it appears he’ll avoid jail time unless he does something else. In the US, I don’t think he would have gotten away so easily. Over 40 incidents, taking over 70 items? From churches? In general, if you didn’t like Billy before, you have another reason not to like him. And if you’re a Billy fan, you’ll continue to be a Billy fan. At the end of the day, I don’t think the news will change many minds about him. Maybe if the thefts had been more recent it would have had a bigger impact on perceptions? But it does beg the question…what would Billy have to do to destroy his fan base and channel? Or…What would Fanny have to do to implode? Besides isn't village gossip how we as humans shield ourselves from dubious characters? I know I'd have a hard time trusting someone who stole, lied and swindled.

If I were Ian I would counter-sue Fanny for sexual harassment, reputational damage and non-payment for services rendered.I doubt that she would dare to try and sue Ian. She knows that he knows far too much about her and the way she neglected everything at the dump. I would have thought he could more readily try to sue her for unfairly blaming him for disasters. She also deliberately employed him to do jobs for which she knew he was unqualified but she wanted things done as cheaply as possible. If she did take him to court, she would get some pretty dreadful publicity from it. I am sure he has a lot of local friends and clients who would rush to support him, rather than Fanny.

The internet can be a wicked place. Hateful people hide behind its anonymity to spread their personal miseries. We should pity them and their sad lives. Billy, your personal matters are your own. It is not up to us to judge you or anyone. I am grateful that there are people like you and your family and friends who put such effort and care into projects such as the convent, chateaux and cottages.
