I'm sort of into copper these days, so I took a look. I couldn't find an etsy shop for them, but I saw Sean has a website that has some pieces under the "shop" tab. His stuff is way too expensive. A windsor pan for $600 euros! Too expensive, even though it looks lovely and has been re-tinned and is all shined up. None of the copper pieces I saw screamed rare or special.

I have a place where I purchase from time to time, a great lady in Normandy who does a once a month online shop. She has an online pop up this weekend, on Sunday, so I'll compare some of the prices. Even the couple of pieces I bought through this shop, shipping from France (she uses Fed-X), were less expensive than buying new here in the US and while refurbished, they were beautifully made, older pieces that you just can't find easily here.

Here in the US, men wear brightly colored chinos, too, at least where I live. It's a trend that's been on for awhile.
Thank God, no brooches! You got it right, though.....chateauverse trying to start a trend, not realizing that Harry Styles and Billy Porter will always wear it better!
No bright colored chinos in my corner of the US. Are you in the south by chance or New England?

I watched Andrew and Ricardo's video where they go shopping with Stuart to purchase food for patreon days. I was surprised that they do not have many items on hand from the garden, such as garlic and onions. Those should keep if they go about storing them properly,
I would love to know what the budget amount was.. heck if they only spend 10 per person it would be 900$ that cart does not look like 900 of groceries.

The Indian pavilion has been spotted.., is it finished…does the iron frame look as if it is on the top?
As the ground slopes to the left how did Amoury manage to assemble it .?
Another Fanny fiasco.
It looks like Greek ruins…

Does he really choose outfits for a nearly 50 years old woman? He's like Kanye West who "dresses" his women to look the ugliest they can. There's something deeply disturbing going on.
I have missed the evidence Pheeph is buying her new clothes.
The disturbing thing I've noticed is how MariE wears her old Bo Peep florals like a trophy pelt. It's about being Stephanie, as Pheeph's wearing her clown orange suit outfit declares. It's not cross-dressing, it's inhabiting her being.
Still thinking about her commedia del'arte bathetic taste in clothes since she was a little child, apparently. Who's that clown? Arlequino, Pulcinella, Pierrette? Her clothes have that tragic edge of the travelling circus and La Strada.

Omg trust hum to get a large breed pair that need longer walks and I wonder why he did at all consider this if there is stock around how that's going to end.
In this day and age there are wireless fences that work very well. Hopefully he will.invest in one, but we know Dan will just let them run wild.

Tante's choice of wardrobe is so... interesting at time....., I really like her. I think she's very sweet.
She does seem very pleasant but why on earth did she stand by and just let Fanny buy the absolutely ghastly tablecloth and napkins? Does Fanny real like that garbage or is she trying to show she can buy cheap as well as expensive stuff? I am beginning to wonder if she isn't actually acting in the gift grab and that she really does like absolutely ugly tat. In any case, more cloths and napkins are the last things they need. If she really wanted to celebrate Valentine's day, surely she'd want the table to look beautiful. Even Snorty disliked that rubbish.

Wow, what an interesting life trajectory. I am not familiar with the books your shared. I got my degree 1986 and have moved away from history. But I was educated under heavily influence of French Ecole des Annales which was a powerful influence over historians all over the world in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. Not sure how they are doing these days.

Do you know Fernand Braudel? He’s my all time favorite French historian, he was responsible for my moving toward geography and I am now more of historical geographer as I got master degree in Geography. His research on the Mediterranean changed my life but I am an specialist in Tordesilhas Treat, the Pope’s division of world between Portugal and Spain and the establishment of their empires in Asia, Africa and the Americas. I am a specialist in the role of Jesuits in the colonial empires too… I love the 16th because it is the establishment of a modern world, before the heavy introduction of slavery and retrograde reestablishment of inquisition and persecution in the Americas.
Annalistes, my faves. Such fabulous use of incredible footwork. Le Roy Ladurie wrote what may be the best book I've ever read, Montaillou. I did some work on childhood and Philippe Aries, though now much discounted, was and still is fascinating to me. Braudel, my mother was into him and as a travelling person much into spirit of place I should re-enter his world.
I did not know the pope divided the world between Spain and Portugal. Caramba.
I sort of love and hate the Jesuits and their role in learning the native languages, undergoing unbelievable treks and being the wiliest students of culture (Matteo Ricci) for the glory of a very Christian God.
So much to read, so little time!!!!

I grew up in those places and Africa. After travelling the world, I finally made it to Cuba in my 50s and felt as if I had come home. It took me more than a minute to suss it out. Caribbean foliage and night skies, to be sure. But the real thing was Spanish-speaking black people. There's not a lot of places which have them. And they combine the far flung venues of my childhood.
The two best books I've read recently about how Spanish colonialism was promulgated by warrior monks, first, at missions -- setting up property ownership via irrigation, forcing the natives to farm their crops, storing the harvest and making the natives convert to get a ration.

And the other was the mind boggling way explorers like Henry the Navigator interpreted Christian and Catholic texts to enslave and genocide the people they found elsewhere. One reason they had priests travelling with them.

Any recs for reading? My friend has a great site on the Alhambra, which is probably the best place I ever visited. Or maybe the great mosque of Cordoba....
Alhambra is on our list of places to visit, so beautiful.

Very sad. Is his dump near farms? I hope not. The farmers will not hesitate to shoot or poison dogs that threaten their livestock. I dislike him even more now than I did before. I really get my hackles up when people treat animals irresponsibly. Daggers to Dan! 😡

I’m not sure, something on the small side that I could manage myself, whilst not bringing unwanted attention. Maybe one of both of the little blue & white (Spode?) fish hanging on the wall in the kitchen?

They would be quite cool to have. Real trophies
I wonder how long it would take for Despicable fanny and Thrush to miss them...

I really, really don’t want to go back and rewatch, but I’m pretty sure Thursday’s CD had a nanosecond of Andie in sales’ mode and with her prints spread out on a table beside her. And possibly there was a fleeting glimpse of Michael Potts doing similar with his photos.
What about Ye Olde Squirrel Shoppe?

I've seen no mention of the Lalande Grift Shoppe. Why wasn't Snorts holding court there?
Sorry, just saw your post😀

Thread nom 🧵Fanny won't spend money, unless she can wear it, drink it or sleep with it.

I thought this is one of the nicer looks she's had recently. I thought the color and silhouette were better than the voluminous large floral prints for sure.
Better but not good
