My every day Is now discontinued. It is white...Athena by Johnson Brothers My weekend, dinner, entertaining, special occasion is Greenwich by Minton. Also discontinued. I was surprised to see it some time ago in an ad for Downton Abbey....in a dining table setting! Probably will start using it for everyday. Why own it, and not use it?!Ohh how lovely! Those platters are gorgeous! My day to day plates are a pink set of Johnson Brothers for Laura Ashley petite fleur pattern mixed with a bunch of Dansk cafe blanc as well. Since it's just me, I'm not fussy about things matching. Hubs picked up the Johnson Bros. set at a yard sale for $25 incomplete. I've certainly gotten my use out of them. Recently I picked up a small stack of vintage Fiesta ware accent plates...they're clear glass with stripes painted in different colors on the bottom...I think they'll make nice summer dishes. Not dishwasher safe but since I'm the dishwasher, no biggie. I've got some bits of Spode, but picked them up at thrifts & auctions years ago, some even before the advent of YouTube.

By the way, I am a Greektologist as I love the place, know a lot about it and worked as a courier there in the Ionian Islands for two seasons. I don't think discussing money is uncouth but I agree with the second statement. I personally feel uncomfortable when people get so invested in things that they start digging stuff about "private" people. It somehow feels a bit violating. I would get it if Amoury would have his own vlog where he begs/trics money from people and uses it on shady purposes but he isn't doing that. Yes, he is playing role in her vlogs but how willingly, I would question that

I think Manor and Maker is a straightforward vlog of their new life in France. They are a rather dull couple but seem pleasant enough. I understand them getting stick a while back as they tried to generate interest in upcoming events at a chateau they didn't even own yet (shades of the unicorns), and for putting up critiques of local restaurants when they had only just moved into the area. But they seem willing to take criticism on board, and I'll give them a bit of rope until they start down the begging line. Sara doesn't profess to be anything but an amateur 'sewist' who is showing her learning progress online. I get the impression their making workshops were for mutual support, rather than either of them proclaiming to be expert tutors. But I do admit to fast-forwarding through the vlogs and may have missed some shady behaviour.

The Dutch version of "The Voice" (the original concept that started the worldwide talent shows) has been suspended pending an investigation into sexual misconduct allegations, cover ups and gross abuse of power. I haven’t been following the revelations lately, but can sort of paint the picture without knowing it all.
I seriously think SJ’s situation is not much different from the accused Dutch orchestra leader (apart from the fact that he admitted guilt and resigned): she has been warned for sexually inappropriate behavior with employees/volunteers before (and was kicked out as a host in the workaway program for it) yet just kept going as if nothing had happened. She was worried, she claimed, about the age difference between them and how that would be publicly perceived, but stayed completely silent about the unequal distribution of power in her relationship to the Cameltoe of Cameltoes. I believe however there is no room for interpretation: legally everyone at her HMN must be able to work in complete safety. She has proven time and time again she has no regard what so ever for appropriate behavior. Her patrons know this, but apparently it doesn't scare them off. Yet.

When it comes to SJ and company she lies about money all of the time. She deserves to be called out for her antics. Her patreons support her lifestyle. The reason why she can't keep staff on for very long is because people get sick of it. Why on earth anybody would want to volunteer there and give her their free time is beyond me.
I've got some real steals over the years at Emmaus. Pre covid, our local one used to do a twice yearly sale of jewellery that was donated I've picked up some stunning silver pieces for under a euro. Used to go every Wednesday afternoon (first day open to the public each week). I've also donated loads too! I confess – I’ve been tracking the Christmas Cadeaux episodes - I know, boring - but my interest was piqued, so I took one for the team. There have been 8 Christmas Cadeaux episodes, totaling 6.2 viewing hours and to date they've opened a total of 71 boxes and received 427 gifts.
The total number of gifts is a very close approximation, because 1 gift box can include multiple items, although I've tried to identify each item separately as much as is possible, and maintained a detailed breakdown of each Cadeaux via excel spreadsheet. (ex: vlog dates, sent by who, from where, patron status, description of gift, designated receiptient, any interesting side note)
At this rate Lalanders will receive thousands of gifts during the year. It’s all excessive, vulgar and a huge waste of money, time and resources. The value of gifts received far outweighs the monthly charity donations. Not to mention the cost of packaging & postage. Clearly there are a lot of people who are lonely, and their loneliness has been exacerbated by Covid. As much as some people may derive pleasure from watching the Chateau vlogs and wish to thank SJ and gang, this gifting nonsense is simply grotesque and escalated out of control.
SJ should stop Cadeaux and instead ask people to donate their items, money and time to local charities. SJ could lead by example and begin doing local charity work in her own area. Sadly, I don’t think she will because she’s addicted to the gifts and adoration.
