You've had literally rooms full of gifts in the 18 months or so of lockdown. Where do you put them all? You can't use all of it! No one could. Perhaps you can sell them on ebay or something to boost the charity money, althoughmuch if it has no commercial value. Or maybe you could top up the charity money with some of the patreon financial gifts, of about €35,000 a month? Maybe have a charity month?

I agree. The Fleuries tastes are much more refined and yet they are able to make decisions and progress at rapid speed, comparitively. What Lalande has is the medieval architecture and fields surrounding it as the allure over the Fleuries chateau. Now if you could mix the two together!

Lalande is not a medieval castle.

Its oldest part dates from the 17th century. Maybe some foundations can be found being from the 16th century but that's it.

The rest of the building has been rebuilt in mid 19th.

About the gardens being open to the public, they need to be historical and spectacular in terms of gardens architecture. Which is not the case at Lalande - even with Davey's plans.

There are many many châteaux in France with beautiful listed gardens open to the public. It would take decades to Lalande to reach the same result...

Watched another "successful" YouTube discussing her patreon page and how much she appreciated the support. If you are a successful reseller and have a successful business, why have a patreon page?

Fanny is in over her head and will fly the coup just before the property is seized for back taxes, or whatever the French do. BTW, in the US, the gifts Fanny receives would be considered taxable. Does France have the same kind of tax code regarding gift values?

My perspective on the charlataine exactly: there is no plan to advance, there never was and never will be. SJ remains lost in her own strategy games and nobody can tell where she's heading, not even SJ herself. Had she made a plan in advance it would have been easy to adjust when things happen (they always do) and priorities change (they always do), but her lack of an actual vision for the future piles up the wasteful behavior and meaningless completion of days, months, years spend in her HMN. Honesty has become the cumbersome victim: only lies can satisfy her assertiveness. You look beautiful, snorts the Cameltoe, while he swallows the much more accurate words 'just like my grandmother'. You are always so lovely and positive, warbles the guerilla granny, without consolidating the accessory creepiness that guides her fraud. I love you, declares a visiting friend, hoping to conceal their also bubbling hate for the constant filming and what it has done to the general atmosphere.

Oh, he still comes in, believe me. The Snorting Cameltoe has been told Potty can access whenever Potty wants to access and if Snorts has a problem with that he'd better find a different sleeping arrangement. Camelpants tries to lock the doors in search for a bit of privacy but that does not help much and only pisses off not only Potty but SJ too: she needs those doors open to stay connected to the drama of the moment, whether it is planned or random.

My husband delights me with just the strangest things:

Sweeping up dust bunnies and calling me in to introduce them by name.
Taking an inflatable swimming pool to a NASCAR race so he can sit in it on the campground and drink beer.
Sprinkling our neighbors with a hose hiding behind a fence to make them think it’s raining.
Stealing the antenna off his buddy’s car to make them think the radio doesn’t work. Three times.
Having conversations with our dogs before he goes out of town so as to explain where he’s going and when he’ll be home. He also gives them jobs to do while he is gone. He’s dead serious.
I told him once I didn’t like that he came home and didn’t say hello, so when he comes home he yells Bubba, Bubba, I’m home!!! (We’re going on ten years of this now).
My current favorite. He broke both of his ankles in the last few years and loves to buy shoes. After he gets the shoes he puts them on and lays in bed with them on to “try them out”. He does this while only wearing his boxers. I’ve walked in the bedroom to find him in bed in his underwear with work boots on, tennis shoes, dress shoes, and boat shoes.

I think I can add a bit of perspective. I initially was impressed by her little short story on how she ended up owning a chateau. My demo, 51, still pretty hip, always an early adopter trend-wise, love to decorate and antiques. Always complimented on my style. Always been told I will never be old no matter how old I get. Okay. So back to my initial brainwashing. I thought it was very cool that she had the pluck to do this. I also thought she must have made some money as an opera singer and she had determination. I also thought maybe she was a little bit cash poor, but her partners were helping things along. I was also still under the impression she worked some of the time.

I’m also American and we love us some diy. We don’t have much history over 300 years old. We generally don’t know the ins and outs of living in Europe. So in the beginning I’m very intrigued by all of this. Cut to Stephanie. She seems so down to earth! Not pretentious - she runs around in her housecoat with no makeup on. How refreshing! She must be an open book! This is disarming because she seems to be so happy and optimistic. She must be telling the truth, right? She has so many friends, and all these people volunteer to come help her, she must be really nice. You start to like her because she seems like a lot of fun. You look at the state of the place and you feel a bit sorry for her because she seems to need help. You think, oh I’ll give her a little money, I’d really like to see her fix that shitty courtyard. You find yourself wondering what they got up to since the last video.

You see her thrift shopping - she talks about sewing curtains - she shows old renno pictures and talks about her father dying. Her mom is mowing the lawn. Poor girl, you think, CoVid is going to wreck her business. She’s so excited to receive things from people and seems really grateful. Some of those things are used or worn even. You’re getting invested and go back and watch videos from before you found the channel. Cue to a couple weeks or months later, you start to think of her and the others as a friend or company. Just like you do with a TV show (Friends, Sex and the City), only this is cooler, because they are real people. Then, you start to notice things…….

Couture gowns come out for a cocktail party (“it’s vintage” sure, Vivienne Westwood?!, Versace !?, Manolo’s). She took 12 vacations last year? Hmmmm
My father bought me a murano chandelier (huh?!).

BUT, she’s driving a bombed out car left there by a volunteer, she’s giving hotel soap for Christmas presents, she’s begging Potty to buy her art at a gallery.

THEN, she’s going on vacation and staying at a 4 star hotel, and then she goes on vacation, and then she goes on vacation, and then she goes on vacation, and then she goes on vacation, and then she goes on vacation…………….

The thing that did it for me was the $200 candle. I was like, what the actual fuck lady? After that I watched just to try to figure out what the hell was going on. I am not unfamiliar with the finer things in life. I’d see them pop up now and again and I thought maybe her parents gave her nice presents. Then it became ridiculous and I started to wonder if she was a hooker. I’m not kidding. Really weird men were showing up to party, and when she dressed up she looked like a hooker. She went off with Mason on those trips and I seriously wondered if he was paying her.

Michael’s first crying video sent me straight here. I googled her name and scam and here I am. I came in around thread 19. Thank goodness for Clara, because in as much I’d decided she was full of shit, Clara really laid it out, and it’s even worse than I expected.

She’s no different than a junkie lying to you to get you to fork over some cash because they need a little help. Only in her case she runs off and buys Soleaido and $4000 worth of wallpaper instead of drugs. Oh and she doesn’t ask in person, she uses YouTube to get into your house and ask for money.

I only watch now because I want to see her come apart. I don’t care about that old building. I don’t care about her or her greedy, lying, mother. I like a few of the regulars, but I absolutely hate Snorts.

My only fear is that when we do break her, or she gets caught out, that she’ll just disappear and we’ll never get to see it.

So yep, I did, I gave her money and I’m not a granny. I hope it paid for a dinner that gave her diarrhea, or a bottle of liquor that gave her the worst hangover ever.

After watching the latest Chateau Diaries last night, I was appalled. I was a patron but stopped late last year. I was the 20.00 tier. I am also a controller for 10 dental offices. I cannot believe the show she put on last night. In Texas here we have a saying. Lipstick on a pig and that was the entire show.

1. Nothing happening with Chapel. There is a lot of chapels in France, he cannot be the only restorer. She did 3 windows, that took over two years.

2. The pergola should of been done ages ago, like here in Texas we do them in a weekend, and its cheap, used her own wood and Dan and Amaury is doing the work.

3. The Moat, she barely spent $1000 on labor if she spent that much to clear the sides.

4. She was gifted a chicken coop, so no money spent there.

5. She spent money on the tree surgeon, here in Texas we have tall pines and its not cheap.

6. Billy spent 4500 on a Rothchild library, that is going to be nice when set up, she spent 25K on paneling that is coming apart

7. She said she set up a carpentry studio, um no she did not, it was his studio over in England and he brought it over to do the Grand Salon

8. Downstairs loo not done, so stop saying it is

9. The pink bathroom, please tell me that is done, because either they do one piece a tile a day or something.

10. Why start a renovation on that marquis suite where the expensive wallpaper and not have all the materials before you start the job so you can complete something.

11. Do not get me started on that "Wedgewood" room. The people who sell Wedgewood are sick over it I am sure, who glues things to a wall, seriously?

12. What I find funny we were constantly seeing her in her office she created with the freaking peeling wallpaper and now her desk is back in her bedroom, I am sure it is for one of the shows on the DIY or she got to many complaints about how ugly it was and how much she spent on that goofy chandelier and chair/ottoman combo thing.

Last night was like she was talking to her patrons who apparently she things are stupid and will believe anything coming out of her mouth. She just disgusted me last night. Also why not fix up that room you clean dishes in but the damn dumbest thing she said was about the heating. Lady you get 30K a freaking month and you cannot fix your heater and you want to walk around with water bottles like at idiot because you rather spent 4K on ugly ass wallpaper than keep people warm and take care of the Chateau properly

She needs to get rid of her enormous ego and go back to the way she was in the beginning and at like a normal human being. The whole thing disgusted me.

Oh ok, I wasn't aware of this tradition. Well, I am 25, currently trying to pursue career in law. English isn't my first language.
I stumbled on Michael's channel first, during first covid quarantine. And after seeing his "detective videos" with Stephanie, I started watching chateau diaries too. And since she is more consistent with uploading new videos, I kind of abandoned his videos. Now I watch hers, Billy's and Dan's videos mostly. Well that's it
I found this blog after her latest video, it didn't make sense to me how all projects are just left unfinished or didn't even start(Chappel for example) and how slow everything is.

I wasn't sure wheather I should post the link to the ranting lady or not. But now I'm glad I did. I found this lady some time ago when reading through the comments on one of SJ's videos. She posted there a slightly critical comment and I found her name worth clicking on. That's why I found her channel. She posts videos on a daily(?) basis speaking about a lot of stuff. I especially thought it interesting to hear her ranting about English people that complain about so much in France, but on the other hand live in France themselves. And then there came this video....

So, Who am I?
I'm a 70 year old retired teacher, married, one son, four cats, loving to knit, crochet, read or sew while listening/watching a broad variety of YouTube videos.
So one day - I think it still was 2019 - I was recommended her channel. I liked it and watched all of her viedeos from then on and backwards. Soon I was recommended MP's channel that I really loved by then (the very first videos to be clear). I subscribed to him, too. Then I stumbled about all the other chateaux-channels and was sucked in, like an addiction. I even stopped knitting etc, my eyes were only glued to the screen - for months and months, in fact years I just realize.
I really bought into the poor girl scam and believed it. One day - I can't remember when - I thought to myself: Wait, there is something wrong. She says that she hasn't got any money, but then she buys Fortnum & Mason? Wasn't that this expensive tea that I can't afford? I looked it up and yes, it was. Hmmmm, strange. She stays in a London flat that she owns? No, that must be wrong. I must have misunderstood all of that (I'm not a native speaker). What, she travels to Egypt and the Far East, (Vietnam/Kambodia, or what was it)? But she doesn't have any money. How can she do that? Oh, it was all a gift. Okay then.
And then there was all that gifting. She praised the gift as the most beautiful thing she had ever seen, to say the same thing to the next nearly identical gift by another sender. I thought that was quite rude.
At this point I started to read comments, which I had never done in my life before. I wanted to know if there were other people like me who found her behaviour strange. But there were none. It was only praising her in the highest tone. So I thought, okay, it's just me that is strange not her. Little did I know by then.
I even considered to join her patreon and help her out. But they asked me for my credit card details. And being German we older Germans are very reluctant to give somebody our credit card details. Now I'm so glad that this saved me from giving a very rich person my money.
Well, and then there was MP's D&A video. "She stole my design." And I bought it. By then I had started to read the comments and found the mentioning of a special site. I didn't understand the word, so I googled and found tattle. I wanted to read myself what this bad site was writing. The more I read the more my eyes widened, because everything that sounded strange to me was voiced here. I felt so good, no more "I am the strange person who things that is wrong". AND I learned that the video creator could delete posts!!! I didn't know that. Now it made sense to me why there were only positive comments and no critical ones.
After having read here for a few days I joined the site, but until now never had the guts to post. Though there was a time when I was so mad at her that I composed some postings to tattle (in my mind) while cooking dinner but never put it in here. It was the video where Dan got a packet sent especially to him and only to him and she robbed him of some of his gifts. That was the moment I unsubscribed on all chateaux channels. Well, I re-subscribed to Lalasalle, Ferté, Honfleur and Dan again, because I think they really do work. But all of the rest - I don't want to give them my - indirect - money via subscribtion.
Regarding previous threads: I started reading at the end of the #20s till #30. Then I thought that I had to start to read from the beginning. I read #1 to #4 and thought: Let's look what is written up now in #30 - only to discover that you were at #34 already. That's when I decided to stop reading the old threads, because I couldn't keep up with you any more -reading the old AND the new one.

Well, that's my story. I'm sorry that it's a bit long. AND I apologize if I used a word that might have offended you in US or UK (like somebody did unwillingly in an earlier post). As I stated I'm not a native speaker and my English isn't that good.

Welcome again and there's absolutely no reason to apologize, your English sounds pretty perfect to me. So does your story, very relatable for many of us and I would like to add that even when you would have met her in person, you would have still fallen for her stories because she's that good at telling them. I'm just really happy there are many more people like you who still have a mind of their own and can tell when things are off. Hope to read many more of your posts!

I totally agree with you, I used to be a patron but the videos haven't felt the same for a while, they seem forced and fake. I stopped watching the gifting as it became the same lines being trotted out. I now find Dan and Amorey more genuine and Dan can churn out more video time in a week with all the work he does than someone who doesn't work and produces much less in a week.
