As someone from central Scotland, house prices down south baffle me, £375,000 for a 2 bed flat down there gets you like a literal 5/6 bedded detached villa up here, blows my mind

The influencers buying west elm reminds me of Phoebe from Friends outrage that everything from Pottery Barn looks the same, and therefore everyone’s houses look the same.

Okay we are all here to discuss these people but that is just mean and uncalled for? We all have different shapes and different shaped heads? It's not an exercise matter and even if it was, at least she is trying to keep fit..
agreed! totally uncalled for

I first started watching Anna in about 2010/11 when she still lived at her parents house. I loved her long hair, her makeup tutorials, hauls and outfit style (which almost always featured those Topshop Ash ankle boots and MAC makeup). I really enjoyed her videos when her and Mark moved to the flat in London, and her content and the effort she put in to her channel/blog ('brand') was really good imo and I used to religiously watch her vlogs.

However, halfway through this I think she became massively out of touch with reality and her audience - as for this era of British youtubers (Anna, Lily Pebbles, that Amelia one, Tanya Burr etc.) who started channels in 2009/10 massively began to take off in about 2012/2013. They were receiving more lucrative brand partnerships and earning a lot of money. This is when the style of Anna's videos changed e.g. hauls almost always featured clothes from Whistles, her 'everyday makeup' was high end e.g. Armani and it really started to turn me off because she was not relatable anymore; I mean I knew I'd never be casually buying all my clothes from Whistles.

Since then it's just progressed more and more. Obviously nowadays the platform of Instagram has changed so much to allow people to forge a 'career' through this and most stuff is gifted or heavily discounted, but Anna in particular is so out of touch with everything now. It's also funny because she hardly wears Whistles now, it's all luxury gifted Ganni, Loewe and other obscure unknown (but highly expensive) instagram fashion brands. But that's also the same as every other youtuber/instagrammer.

I still like her, I don't engage with her channel or feed anymore, but I like the 'cleanliness' of her aesthetic if that makes sense? She has a bit of a Swedish style vibe. I also think her and Mark are adorable and they look like the truly adore eachother. I do however, wish she'd stop getting her hair cut above her shoulders (it really doesn't suit her face and bone structure which is quite squarish) and would sort her eyebrows out as it's too much and they're overpowering. I truly think she wouldn't care about that comment because it's her life and it's what she likes and I admire that to an extent, but how can you be in this 'fashion/beauty' world, mixing with top-end brands, designers etc. and no one has offered a bit of advice (particularly on the hairstyle - sorry but I just can't get over it!) Maybe she's going for a particular look so that she's more acknowledgeable (is that a word?) e.g. 'oh, I know who you mean, that one with the big eyebrows'. She had this whole 'English Rose' look a few years ago and now it's just a bit yikes.

The fact that she still believes her seasonal hauls are capsule wardrobes is kind of incredible because she has built an entire brand around that (it's when she started the whole Edited Life bs). It's the exact opposite of a capsule wardrobe imo, her buying over-priced "pieces" that she claims she will get SO much wear out for three months.

^ Each time you remind us how she looked before lol, I just can't get my head around what's happened to her in these last few years. I know styles, trends and preferences change but still...
I've been wondering who she reminds me of now with those ridiculous brows (imo) and I think it's Noel Gallagher.

I think of that woman out of dodgeball with the mono brow.

So yesterday she showed us a £50 pair of cycling shorts and today a £275 camisole. I probably don’t even spend that much on clothes in a whole year. How can she say she has a capsule wardrobe 😂

I was so into Anna’s message of the capsule wardrobe, buying less but buying better, being sustainable. Until I realised that buying better means £200 jeans, £300 silk shirts, timeless handbags worth thousands.
anything affordable is gifted.
I’d understand the higher price points if she really did have less but she doesn’t, she is constantly buying new items. So it’s not “buy less buy better” it’s “buy more than you need at more than you can afford”.

I mean who would buy £300 cashmere joggers?

it’s also a really shallow existence to put so much value into material items. I love clothes but I’d choose a house over having a drawer full of designer bags. I also want to wear my clothes and feel comfortable not fearful that I’m going to ruin them.

I think this is probably right - I think it says in the post 'contains loaned items'.
Bit sickening really. These influencers telling us to buy these clothes that cost £££ but they won’t part with their own money to actually buy the clothes in the first place. Disingenuous.

Just the words ‘edited life’ make me mad. Why are these bloggers constantly pushing this sanitised and unoriginal content/style/life advice. What’s wrong with a little mess, a little chaos and character. Nothing wrong with a minimalist approach (which is my style anyway) but ‘edited’? Bore off Anna.

I think the worst part is that the bought the 50 pound cycling shorts originally 'to only wear at home and not in public'. She spends insane amounts of money on clothes to wear just in the house.

Just watched her latest vlog. Decluttering, a Waitrose and Partners recipe and some £80 leggings.

She also has a lot of clutter and messy cupboards for someone who considers herself Brighton’s answer to Marie Kondo 😂

I’m sorry, I HAD to post this picture. It looks like she fell into an outhouse toilet. Were there no other colors available?!

Nearly $200 for “deadstock” sweatshirt and sweatpants is outrageous. I’m 100% sure whoever made this went to a thrift shop, bought up similar matching sweatshirts/pants for $20, cut out the tags (maybe sewed in their own ‘bespoke’ tag), and then dyed them using $10 dye and bleach. Anna, you’ve been BAMBOOZLED.
UPDATE: just checked the product listing and the set is 50/50 cotton/poly and from the brand JerZees (Fruit of the Loom) and can be bought at Walmart for $12. They didn’t even cut out the tag.

Did anna even leave the post regarding racism and the unjust killing of black people up for 24 hours ? I found the effort to be quite lazy tbh. And also I find it very weird how fleeting her obsessions are -makes me think that it’s a bit insincere. And part of the reason people prefer her to Lily is because she’s very smart and calculated with the things she shows us and tells us. She is very filtered.
Of course not, she is very filtered, she is 'smart' and calculative in the way that she doesn't show her true self to prevent backslash like her work wife Lily. Have we heard of Anna speak up regarding any social issues? No.

Is good that people are trying to educate themselves but I hope they are not sharing for the sake of sharing or it is trendy now... After all these, I hope something can really be done, action > words, people who shares including myself should hold themselves accountable (I am mixed race, my mum is from far east). First of all, I wish to see diversity actually happening in Gleam, at the moment is Dulux Pure Brilliant White.

This is what she's written on her blog: "with my current calculations I’m on to spend £324.33 per month on clothing during 2020. Now that is A LOT and a figure that I would like to not drastically increase, so I’m trying to find ways and methods to reduce my sending for the second part of this year in order to do that."

It blows my mind that she says she doesn't want the figure to increase, as though it's not an insane amount to spend on clothes every month (especially considering she gets free stuff on top of that). Here's an idea Anna, just buy less stuff. Easy.

Why is she always ‘having a moment’ and ‘here for that’? Those 2 phrases really piss me off and she says them both in every video multiple times. It fills me with rage 😂

The sponge cake. 😐
Plain, basic, kinda boring, nobody’s first choice.....
But safe 😐 you can’t offend with sponge cake.
However, nobody’s gonna rave about how great the sponge cake was 🤷‍♀️ It was kinda just there, nobody pays much attention to it. 🤣
I unfollowed Anna just before miserablily had her baby 🤣 I’ve also banned the words capsule wardrobe and glossier
