Anyone ever grown trees before? Did you plant them on your own ground or manage to find someplace for them?

I've managed to get 3 going now. Few years old, 2 acorns an a chestnut, however where I now am they aren't going to be able to go in the garden, it's not big enough that the roots won't reach the house

I'd love to have them planted someplace but not sure where they would be allowed or even where to go, be a shame to lose them after all the work to get them going an how they have come on

I had thought I'd be able to keep them but obviously now can't

They will come off, don't worry! I did exactly the same with some silver rings recently. I got a mould spray with bleach on them and there were black speckles everywhere. They faded after a few hand washes and showers.

Does anyone know if you can remove the “for sale” sign from your home when it’s sold subject to contract? I see a lot of houses have theirs changed to “sold stc”. But a house near me has removed the sign completely, but it’s showing as sold stc online. Is this down to the hone owner, or do the estate agents have rules about how long you have to keep a sign up for?

You don’t have to have a sign up at all, so it’s up to you to do as you please. Two of my neighbours put theirs up for sale, no boards and I only know as I’m nosey about prices so regularly check my area online.

Has anyone any advice for taking a child on holiday with a different surname to you? We go every year and it hasn’t been a problem I just get all our birth certificates out etc if they ask which they only have once but that’s usually when coming back form Spain this time we’re coming back from Turkey and Iv got in my head the uk border control will be stricter and maybe even the Turkey one will be too.. I mean it’s very obvious he’s British his pale white hair blue eyes (the total opposite of me) we go in 3 weeks and we have no contact with his dad and haven’t since he was born.. am I just over thinking it? Will 2 copies of birth certificates and notice of birth be enough proof?

Yes but you still have to pay the line rental fee, from memory i think it’s £17 per month. We don’t have a landline phone so just pay the line rental fee in with our broadband. I think a lot of people do that nowadays as every one has mobile phones, we’ve done it for years

That must be what I pay for as well, line rental, as I don't have a home phone. Its just a bit confusing. I should have a look at a recent bill. I don't think it's right though that they charge me for bt sport though which I don't want. I told them before but obv they didn't change it.

So I mentioned a while ago that my cat died. I had two and before she died me and the kids were talking about how we wanted a little ginger kitten. We were ready to have three cats. Then my cat died and we didn’t really think about it. My cat that’s been left behind is heartbroken still (understandably) they had been together awhile. The person who I got my two off has some kittens who were ready to go, last week. She’s offered me…..a ginger one. There’s quite a few “signs” pointing to this cat, if you will. However I worry about my other cat. Will she hate having a kitten around? Will it help her maybe? My cat is three so I am not sure how she will be with a small and tiny kitten around.

I was at the Asda, BUT this is my issue. Surely if I’ve hit a car my car would have damage on it? So I’m denying everything to my insurance.

It would be a very strange coincidence if it turned out you hadn't hit the car... after you'd already thought you had AND got out to check...

I have bumped into a car previously, their car had a big scuff on the bumper, mine showed barely anything to the natural eye. It wasn't until my bf shone a torch on it you could see tiny little scratches on mine.

Insurance claims can take months to resolve. My colleague had an accident that wasn't her fault in March this year, claimed on the other persons insurance and is STILL awaiting a new bumper to come into stock.

Hii, dont really know what imagination libary is butt i would get ylu are looking for books, as someone who is obssesed with reading , my town libary doesnt have that many books and my parents would never want to buy me really a new books, so i use Z libary, u bascially install app called Epub Reader and go to google and search Z libary and ylu dowland any book for free and it would show up in that app where you can read it.

So i just checked the website and its down for a moment, it does say tho that ist going to work again in few hours, and i never checked but i think they have children books

Me neice is too young for apps, which is why I want books for her, she enjoys having them read to her as well as walking about the house with them plus I'd rather not encourage things like tablets/phones etc when she's so young, and I'd rather not take the risk of her accidentally damaging library books

Imagination library is children's books that get sent out monthly which are all designed for the age of your kid, I believe it is free books if the child is able to be enrolled in the program but if not then it's £25 a month

Thanks everyone, I got a leave in condition spray from a salon, it smells unreal, can be used to refresh and was expensive enough so hopefully that will sort it.
Just with highlights (bleached) I want to avoid drying it out, my hairdresser would say wash it every 3 days but not everyday.
Also hopefully I won't be with this particular client for long.

Just burn it. Everyone gets junk mail through the letter box - we all have to get rid of it! Bin it, burn it, Chuck it in a black bag with general waste if you must.

Just looking for some advice as I’m not sure what to do or how to go about this situation. My friends in RL are split pretty 50/50 so I’m taking it to the Internet

So last night one of our family cats died. I have three children (6 - just turned 6 today, 8&10) as you can imagine we are all devastated.

The vets have said we can have her cremated and she stay with them. Or we can pay a little bit extra and bring her ashes home. I can’t work out how to handle this situation, weather it’s better to give the cat some form of send off. Allow the children to say their goodbyes etc. Or let the vets deal with the cat and leave the kids to heal in their own space and time. Today they seem much more chipper however, I think that may be because it’s my youngest birthday and We are out celebrating. I don’t want to keep bringing it up and hurting them all over again but also don’t want them to feel robbed off saying goodbye.

We have always had a send off for our pets. the kids really love being involved and put photos, letters drawings and saying our memories about the pet etc.

But others dont do anything except chat about it.. . I don't think there is a right or wrong way.

Is the embassy where you go when you lose your passport when you are already away on holiday?

Yes but there are some in the UK where you can go and get a passport in the day, generally in big cities. I know there is one in London where you can get a Uk passport there and then. The ones abroad usually only issue emergency travel documents to get you home.

Maybe a bizarre request but maybe someone can help? I walk a lot during my commute and it is wearing down my decent shoes. I don’t want to wear gym trainers on my way because it looks odd and easily makes holes in my tights by the heel. What other comfy trainer type shoes can I wear? I don’t want something clumpy, but definitely a trainer as opposed to shoe as I feel like my feet aren’t supported and hurt if I wear regular work shoes. I was thinking converses but I was wondering if anyone had any better suggestions.

I'm in a similar situation and have been considering my options too. I currently walk in some very light trainers from tesco which are pretending to be Nike tanjuns. From wearing these I know that my upgrade needs to be at least somewhat waterproof because once my feet are cold and wet at work, the day is significantly shitter.

Maybe something from Sketchers? They're dead comfy, light and supportive and some designs aren't even terrible.

I have a silver bracelet from Pandora - nothing fancy it just means a lot to me as it was the first bracelet my partner ever got me years ago. I’ve kept it in good condition until now where I’ve accidentally forgot to take it off when using a harsh chemical spray. Unfortunately the spray has got a few specks on the bracelet and there are now just circular specks all round the bracelet. Is there anything I can do to fix it or make it better or will I just have to suck it up?!

My sister had a scan and found out her baby may have a genetic disorder. She’s currently in limbo waiting to find out more information and weighing up whether termination may be the kindest thing. I’ve never felt so useless in my entire life and my heart is breaking for her. I’m trying to be as supportive as I can to her but I can’t possibly understand what she’s going through, I struggle to find words to say to her. This waiting is killing her piece by piece and it’s so hard to watch. How do I keep her going? What kind of things are helpful?

What a horrible situation. I think just being there for her is probably enough. You don't need to say anything except acknowledgement of how shit it is.

The only other thing I can suggest is more a what not to do. A few years ago one of my children had tests for suspected Lymphoma. The wait for the results was torture. I spent a lot of time on the internet researching. Journals, studies, scientific papers, anything I could set my eyes on. Somebody told me I should stop reading things. Reading things was the only control I had and their comment infuriated me. So I suppose my advice would be let her do what she needs to do, whatever that is. Just be close and ready to listen.

I can’t seem to get to the side or the door as it’s staying firmly locked but it’s more than likely that. It is a really cheap old wooden door. Lucky it’s not much added security to the house. As it is the first porch door but to get to the house is PVC proper door. (If that makes sense) So if I can get it off that’s okay as it’s likely to need replacing anyway.

So.

I was driving at Asda last month, i think I hit a car (scuffed it) but when I got out to check I think it was just the post and not a car and I’ve had an email / calls off my insurance saying someone has claimed.
Now - I’ve not admitted I’m at fault cos I’ve just said I’m not sure if I was there, the Asda they’re talking about is a while off me and I wouldn’t generally to unless I needed something urgently. please nobody have a go, I don’t want to admit I might have scuffed it cos I genuinely thought i hit the post. My car didn’t have any damage on it.

All they’ve got is my reg, and not sure if they’ve got any cctv either. They’re waiting for more information. I really don’t want to lose the 1 year of no claims I’ve got, 2 in October….. my insurance will go up to around £800 again. Has anyone been in this situation? Thank you x

If you think you hit a car, and the claim has now come through then chances are you did hit the car? I'm not sure where the confusion is.

Is there any way you can try to resolve it outside insurance? If it's a tiny scuff then chances are it will be cheaper to pay for it to be resolved yourself, that way you keep your no claims bonus too..

I have a hairdresser’s appointment on Friday to finally get my usual color back. I haven’t been to the hairdresser since the start of the pandemic and my full hair has reverted to my natural color which I hate (jet black). I haven’t sported my natural color in more than a decade and don’t feel myself when I look at the mirror. It makes my soft features more harsh and masculine.

I’m still debating whether I should cancel the appointment because I don’t see the purpose in getting my hair done if I never go out and work from home most of the time. Getting my hair color done would be more of a confidence booster but I honestly don’t see the purpose as my life is BS at the moment (death of a parent a few months ago, work stress, detesting my job with and coworkers).

I don’t know if it’s worth it. It’s within budget but I’m thinking of other things I can do with that amount. I’m torn.

Go, do I feel you on this one. Story of my life - I find it hard to justify the time & expense of haircuts, certainly colours, and other stuff like exercise classes and new clothes, just for myself. Like you, I think about what else I could do with the money, and I'd hate it if at the end of the month my family were skint and I'd just got my hair did-I'd feel like such a dick.
That said, not feeling like yourself isn't really worth holding back for, even if you do wfh. As others have said it might be one of your first steps to beginning to overcome your recent set-backs and barriers. You could ask your colourist for advice on a low-maintenance colour, something that you could enjoy whilst knowing that you've not got to have super regular visits to keep it looking OK.

Mine will be thin I think.. she said my sight just needed sharpening not for long distances but for reading and driving. My PC monitor is my TV and it's about 7 feet away from me. I think that is where I shall benefit most with as reading posts etc makes my eyes tired from that distance I can still read numberplates from distance but at night trying to focus in on door numbers etc is a problem.

the reason I'm not getting separate glasses is I know I will lose them if I don't wear them all the time. I need things to be a habit.
I might take the antiglare off my order then. I was told it was £10 online but my bill jumped up by almost £40 when that was added.

You are about the same as me then as that's what am like but yeah I didn't bother getting the antiglare put on my new ones this time just because of how useless they were an it wasn't worth the cost
