Ah that's so hard. Perhaps instead you could say " I think the best way is divide and conquer so I wanted to put myself forward for X part of the project?" And see if people follow suit?.
That’s a good idea, I could say ‘I’ll do this bit, who’s gonna do that bit’. Because I know they won’t offer out of nowhere! The petty part of me wants to be like ‘all of you did FA for a year so you can sort it out between you and I’ll have the next part of this project off’, but that’s only when I’m ranting in my head 😂

This actually will work really well! The first bit I mean 🤣 ‘The next stage is to divide the work into 5 more manageable chunks so I’ve done that here (show or read them the list)…….I think that covers everything (gives them the option to input so they don’t think you’ve gone rogue thinking you run the show)….I’m happy to take Chunk B if that’s ok with everyone, who is for Chunk A, C, D, E’

The idiots who lived in my house before me used gorilla adhesive to stick a mirror that isn’t shatter proof. Cue me trying to remove said mirror and ending up covered in tiny shards of glass while the majority of it is still stuck to the tiled wall.
Any thoughts on how to get this off? I’ve covered the back wall in wd40 and white spirit in the hope it dribbles down, but it’s not worked.
Quoting myself here to say that I tried all your suggestions plus others. The only thing that worked was steaming it. It’s left remnants of the gorilla adhesive, but I’m covering it with a proper mirror so it’s not a problem. Thanks for your help!

Not to brag but just saying the way the police woman spoke on that call the reaction to it all lives rent free in my head 😂

but to be fair I thought it was a bit unprofessional with her saying I’ve got a lucky escape I didn’t think they were allowed to say things like on like give an opinion on stuff
You ARE harassing them. They SHOULD call the police on you and id be making sure charges were pressed, damn! Harassment is any form of unwanted behavior. Which YOU had continually done.

Could really do with a thread for homeware, like decent finds and bargains, where to go for good quality etc, for example my DFS sofa is 14 years old and we love it but it’s time to change and now I hear only horror stories about the brand, but have got no idea where to go for a decent quality and comfortable sofa these days!

We bought a DFS sofa about a year pre-covid and it’s shockingly bad. Paid nearly £5k for it - 3 seater and l-shaped 4-seater in leather.
The 3-seater is terrible, really bad but Mr Lolz didn’t want to make a fuss because it took about 3+ months to arrive

actually this reminds me i know someone who’s sofa is all misshapen after less than a year so mixed review

Bought furniture village 8 years ago and if it wasn’t for having a cream sofa and children it would look brand new - cushions and seat pads still in excellent condition.

Quoting myself here - please disregard this. It was Furniture Village! Our previous sofa was from DFS

Think it just depends on the area tbh, we have always gotten ours from DFS an it's been fine, never had a problem with them but I have also heard the horror stories from others, I think it's going be the same from everywhere really, all will have both positive and negative reviews

I had a sofa from Next 2 years ago (not long in the grand scheme of things) but it has lasted way better than my previous SCS sofa.

Anyone done much camping? Considering it for a number of reasons but wanted some general advice about what to expect/buy/not do?

thanksssss

Fun! Start small with an overnight trip. Something to sleep in and on, something to eat and a way of preparing it. Build your list each time of things you need to remember to take

I'd get a good air mattress (I have an Intex one and an electric air pump to go with it) or at least a thick iso mat - sleeping badly will take all the fun out of it. There's loads of self inflating ones too, those are pretty nice. Nevertheless, iso mats are a plus so you can isolate the ground bc that will make your matress cold.

Warm sleeping bag, small pillow, and a battery operated light source that you can charge beforehand.
Lighter, camping stove, a small pot, a bowl, cutlery.
Tent of course.
A hammer for the tent hooks is a must have imho.

I'd borrow from friends / family as much as you can for the first time to see of you even like it. Most people have a tent and sleeping bag lying around.

Today at work a woman (same level of seniority) of me sent a teams message meant for someone on her team, to a group wide teams chat I’m in, making derogatory comments about me. I’ve not worked with her for over 9 months and they were irrelevant to what I was doing at the time.

I have to keep working with her, any suggestions how I move forward?

Step 1: screenshot and save
Step 2: go to HR

I'd take it to your manager in an email with a screenshot and ask them to be a mediator and to arrange a meeting between you two. Then I'd state clearly that you a) expect an apology, and b) would like to know where this animosity is coming from as to clear whatever issue is between you two.

I would not make a "big deal" out of it (even if it is) in the sense of taking it to HR or taking it further than an email to management as not to seem like the one causing drama. But you can be calm and professional about it, accept any apology (even if fake from her) with grace and then pretend like the whole thing didn't happen.

Have you screenshotted the messages?

I would report it to HR if it is derogatory.

Does she know that you’ve seen the message? And that it was to a group chat?

as it was in a group chat you must feel very upset about it.

if she hasn’t apologised yet I would definitely suggest talking it through with your manager or a senior person that you trust on best way forward.

i think I would book a catch up with her and show her the screen shot, ask her to explain herself and tell her that you would like an apology. OR you can ask her manager to deal with it, but past a certain point of seniority I would expect colleagues to work things out between themselves.

if I were her I would be squirming so much. She’s made herself look like a massive twit.
