changed some info in case people i with are in the tread

So I work with this older lady, I would say she’s 50-60 year old. last couple of months she’s made comments about my face when the room is pack. I’ve explain over it being a common medical condition and it at times flare up but she still comments asks questions over this. I’ve never heard her do this to anyone else over their appearance.

This year a close family member went into hospital and nearly died. This happened when the lady was away and when she came back 3 weeks later she found out and started asking me about it i.e what hospital, what happened are the ok? I didn’t feel this was appropriate with how long ago it happened, I’m not close to this colleague and I only just started being settled after it happened.

I’ve been in care, not many people I work with are aware of this. I don’t like many people knowing this in case peoples behaviour changes towards me and feels sorry. However some of the comments this woman makes over people in care I don’t like. I maybe nit picking with this but it makes me feel uncomfortable but I don’t want to challenge it because i especially don’t want this woman to know.

I’ve had run ins with this person over the hospital bit. I feel like it’s becoming tit for tack as I’ve had to go to people over some stuff being wrong or not changed as she said she was going to. I keep biting my tongue because I don’t want an awkward atmosphere for my other colleagues and I feel like maybe it’s just me taking this stuff the wrong way. I try and keep interactions with this woman as minimum as I can to prevent this and I think maybe it’s personality’s clashing.

I wouldn't have denied it, quite the opposite. The whole time it went on I felt I was in a weird parallel universe where everyone seemed to think how he treated me was acceptable. I reported him multiple times to the police and they wouldn't even make him leave the house for a night. He used to laugh in my face and say I've done nothing wrong, all your friends/ the police think you're a drama queen. In the end after 8 years a work colleague I didn't know that well (who heard him screaming on the phone to me) said that his behaviour was disgusting, and that made such a difference. Apologies for the me-rail, I don't think about it much anymore (it was 15 years ago now) but when I do, I realise how much resentment I still have about it all.

For my friend, I agree, I'll ask our mutuals to keep an eye on her if they can (they only see her sporadically as it is, but maybe they can invite her to more things and see if she turns up), I guess for now we have to play it by ear - it may have been something sinister, it might well not be. She has still got parents/ family around but tbh they're not much use and she's probably even less likely to discuss it with them than with us.
I’m so sorry - it’s utterly vile what you went through - and the way it was handled by police sounds completely unacceptable- I hope they rot.

Where do people go after escaping the finance industry (that doesn't involve taking a pay cut)???

I have no advice on shifting it but I had this with walls in my kitchen when I was renting. The landlord and letting agents were utter pricks and wouldn't do anything about it. Contact the environmental health of your local
Thank you! I am hoping they will do something about it. It's right behind my bed so I think it's the roof but there is literal drops of water on my wall!!

I think people would expect food but be happy to pay for their drinks. Could the venue lay on a buffet? May cost the same as buying everyone a drink tbh.
Cost-wise that’s true. I just wanted it to be more like a night out and steer it away from formal feeling like some parties tend to do, I always think food creates a bit of a lull when people are drinking and getting into the swing of things 🤷🏼‍♀️

It’s mega easy. I do it monthly (order a lot for business)
I returned 9 items yesterday and Royal mail picked them up from my porch for free! They also do locker returns where you can select a local place with Amazon lockers, they give you a code and you take it and put it in for them to collect. Or regular Evri drop off (various shops) or Royal Mail Mail Drop off where you have the option to print a label and attach it or get a QR code sent that they scan at the post office so you don’t even need a printer.
I often get the refund notification as soon as it’s gone from the post office.
I know Amazon is the enemy being a tax dodging giant but their customer service is second to none.
I’ve been refunded small items without having to return, sent a new free 12 boxes of kleenex because I was only sent 11, had the return deadline extended because I missed it etc, (never had an issue when it’s dispatched from Amazon)
Good to know they are so good, am waiting on it coming down in price anyway, it annoys me Walmart has it almost half the price than what Amazon is taken but they don't ship to the UK, so hopefully it comes down in price over Xmas on Amazon an if they are broken then they can go back

Hi all, I couldn’t figure out how to start a new thread so thought it best to post in here!

A bit of a tricky one but my other half and I live in a flat which is quite old and has terrible sound proofing. Our neighbours seem like nice people who keep themselves to themselves. We just have one awkward issue. They have a baby, who based on when I first saw the baby as a newborn must now be about 18 months old. Our bedroom is on the other side of their bedroom. We’d rarely hear the baby crying through the walls even as a newborn but for the past 3 months or so, we’ve been woken up on a regular basis around 2 or 3AM by the baby squealing and crying. It’s so loud that we feel like the baby is in the same room as us. Even with earplugs in we sometimes wake up. We can hear the parents talking quite loudly too. We live in 2 bedroom flats so I am not sure if the baby sleeps in their other room and then when she wakes, they bring her into their bedroom. We don’t have children ourselves but I do sympathise if they are suffering with broken sleep. Is it awkward if I raise the issue with the neighbours however? I’m not sure if they realise how loud their baby is - it doesn’t even sound like crying, more squealing. I just don’t want to come across as unsympathetic and cause them stress but it’s really really annoying me now!
Like other people said I’m sure they are struggling too. Definitely look into these noise insulating pieces:

I have a medical-y question. I had a blood test (fasted) on Thursday morning and the GP practice called on Friday afternoon to ask if I was on my period when I had the test - and I was but at the end of my period.

I have had loads of them in my life but this is the first time I’ve ever been asked! I’m so sure I have had tests when I’ve been on my period before too. Does anyone know if there is any particular reason they would have asked? I really hope they aren’t going to ask me to do another one..
Am not sure but I guess maybe your period could affect them like maybe a drop in iron levels?, an they wanted to clear it if they felt your iron was low, it's not something I've ever been asked about when getting bloods done

Was it a newish doctor? Sometimes I feel the newer ones cover every question in the book where as the older ones miss a few because they know themselves having been in the profession for years

I brushed my teeth last night and went off to bed, woke up a few hours later with the most disgusting taste in my mouth. Like a kind of ear wax and stomach bile mix. Had a drink of water which made it worse. Jumped out of bed and brushed my teeth again, it settled it a bit but not fully. Went back to sleep, woke up and the taste was in full force. Brushed my teeth, had breakfast, trying to get the taste out of my mouth but its still there. Its affecting everything I eat or drink. Google isn't very helpful. Any idea?!

Have I been rude?
My daughter 23 is currently downstairs with her boyfriend of a few months watching TV. I went down to get a drink from the kitchen.. She shouted through to me coukd I come to help with the TV.. I said I couldn't.. (I had no bra on lol.. Was only running into kitchen) the house literally stunk of a v strong garlic smell.. I knew they had had food delivered earlier.. So I called through to her asking what the smell was.. Saying its really strong garlic.. They both answered that they didn't have garlic... So I asked what they had ordered as it wS really strong smell.. She said chicken strips!
So I went back up to my room and mi utes later I get a barrage of texts from her saying iam rude and embarrassed myself and her.. That I shouldn't act that way in front of a guest.. That usually she would bite my head off but she wanted to play it down to her boyfriend.. Etc etc.
So now iam sitting upstairs wondering if I was rude? I didn't say it in a mean way or anything.. I was just asking.
She said what if he tells people what it's like here? What does that even mean?
All because I asked about the garlic smell?
I felt like I can't trust my own judgement anymore?

Does anyone know how to see a skincare specialist without going to GP? Never been formally diagnosed with rosacea but pretty sure I have it.
Pretty sure your GP can give you creams or low dose antibiotic to treat it without seeing a dermatologist.

Hi
So a guy who’s blocked me on WhatsApp 18 months ago has suddenly started to block and unblock me but the past two weeks he’s been adding my friends on Snapchat and Instagram and messaging them asking if they know me when it’s clear they do and I’ve even mentioned these friends to him when we were talking. The weird thing is his Instagram use to be private and public now and he’s clearly with his girlfriend but his posts his him devoting his love to her.
I don’t know I find this odd as I told him when we were talking that I don’t want a relationship with him and I’ll oviously always care for him but won’t let him get as close again.
I don’t know what I want from this maybe just a vent but me and my friends are confused over this situation

Has anyone here taken out the floor part of a fire hearth, the bit that sticks out? Was it easy or hard?
I have this hearth that comes out into my room and takes up space and would like to put my table and chairs there.
The fireplace isn't used and never will be. its two bricks high with ties ontop

I would say it depends. Why are you failing? If it’s just that you are struggling to get the hang of it then I would rethink it.
It’s the gear mainly. Tried automatic, didn’t like it.

Would you consider doing an intensive week long course? A lot of people have a success with that.

in any case, I didn’t have anyone to do lessons with except paying my instructor and I passed on my third go.

Towards the date of the test we did 2 hour lessons twice a week to get me really test-ready.
That’s reassuring, thank you.

I haven’t thought about a week long intensive course but I will look into it.

I've got no imagination, help me out?

Looking for a gift for someone who really loves a bath but no toiletries to go in the bath (no soap, bath bombs, etc - she's v particular).
I've thought about a bath pillow or one of those tray thingies that go across the bath for your book/ device/ wine, but idk if those things go mildewey/ the novelty wares off.... Any ideas or recommendations?

I just got a missed call from a number and they left a voicemail claiming they’re from my bank and they want me to call them back? Is this a scam? It wasn’t my branch’s number but just a random number
Highly unlikely it’s your bank. Scam scam 🚨

My Instagram account has been suspended. When I get to the 'confirm it's you' page, it always refreshes automatically so I can't tick the box or click continue. I only created this account last week and hadn't posted anything, so I don't see how it could have broken any guidelines! I keep having these sort of issues with Instagram. Anyway, I can't make an alternative account because I'm still logged in and unable to log out. What do I do? 😬
