I don't know why anyone would want to be associated with that. The only thing that would motivate me to do is steer clear of someone so unprofessional, how else does this manifest itself in the rest of their business? If this is them putting their best face forward then what's their worst?
You don't need to have a high level of intelligence by any means but think before you post, think beyond the realms of your own train of thought. Take it Richie manages their IG account? Someone else should take the reigns.

Tough love shouldn't be used as a blanket approach. It only works for certain people & certain situations. It can't be applied to everyone all of the time. He doesn't know the members on a personal level.

There's a whole host of emotions involved when you're overweight, if someone is following a plan (your plan) & asking for help you give them positive encouragement & don't just reiterate what they already know in a harsh/humiliating manner. Without their members they're nothing.

I was at my peak health & fitness wise but after kids & chronic illness I'm the worst I've been. I had an abundance of time & energy to spend in the gym & prep meals. I don't have that luxury anymore. Kids come first & I come last. People's lives are bigger & more complex than getting your steps in & with all the will in the world, sometimes it just doesn't happen.

I was a member in the early days, it was a nice group. Friendly and nice and helpful.

Then things started getting weird, loads of affiliates, him and her both seemed to be power tripping, berating people who were struggling, basically if you hadn't done your steps or hit your targets you simply weren't trying hard enough or you were lazy, the crappy trackers everyone got refunded for.

I've seen messages sent from him to ex members who were having difficulty with their MH saying they weren't trying hard enough.

Then an affiliate left and it all kicked off, they were harrasing and threatening her. I know loads of other people left soon after.

What they teach is right and the plan works.. how they operate as a business and their attitudes leave a lot to be desired.

I’ve been tempted to join in the past but been put off by how unsympathetic they seem towards you not hitting the step count or how hard some people find it to follow a diet sometimes.

I have sat there in a SW group with my eyes rolling so far back in my head while someone has sat there in tears trying to justify putting on 3lb in a week and eating 2 grab bags of Revels on a 5 minute car journey from the corner shop to her house (defo wasn’t just the revels that did the 3lb 😂) and really just wanted to just shout oh FFS get a grip! But just always thought Richie comes across as lacking understanding of what it is really like to struggle with a weight problem, and with the best will in the world when I’m working I am in the car 4+ hours a day on average, eating healthily on the road is a proper struggle and like someone else has said I can hardly step on the spot in a meeting, I’m in sales and don’t think they’d have me back 😂

Had no idea about any of the money stuff though. My gym at the start of lockdown just said they were pausing everyone’s membership and not to cancel it etc. Haven’t been charged a penny.
In my opinion he is deep down a very unhappy person that has to control everyone and everything around him. He again in my opinion puts himself first in everything he does, he still diets at christmas, when unfortunately his family members are ill etc, whereas us normal folk will gain weight because we have a lot of empathy and sympathy for others, I firmly believe he has none of that deep down., he can't relate to people who put their children, family, partner, job before diet.

Rachael had left an abusive relationship when she met Richie. I fully believe she is now in another abusive relationship. He has loads of issues but so does she.

She looks amazing physically but I bet that is at the expense of all joy in her life.
He no longer drinks any alcohol and posted a sanctimonious and hate filled post about the evils of drink. Not just for alcoholics but for anyone else either. I would bet that Rachael is no longer allowed to drink either. ...even if she wants to.

He just sends up all kinds of red flags to me every single time he posts one of his rants. It’s like he sits at the computer with red vein throbbing and throws out all his anger and frustration. I would bet anything that Rachael tiptoes around him when he’s posting one of these rants.

His partner trained as a primary school teacher didnt she?? I bet she would have made a lovely teacher , but she didn't even get a chance as that cunt of a man convinced her to drop the career she had studied hard to do, for his fitness dream.
The fitness dream she didn't know she always wanted till he told her to :p. Look at her, all the affiliates (the ones there), they are all weak minded or need the cash in my opinion. Look at the affiliates and staff who left, all strong minded, with morals and were not in it for the cash, so could not get long term manipulated.

It’s not a ‘normal’ way to be. I am all about trying to be good 80% of the time to try and keep on top of my weight but like you say, other factors can and will take priority. I also have at the back of my mind too, would I rather weigh another 15 less lbs and lead a miserable and obsessive existence or have fun going out socialising and not be sat there with a side salad and a water while everyone else has what they want.

Finding this thread really interesting.

I’m a current member of Team RH but currently paying £6.99 a month for absolutely nothing as I realised very early on that it wasn’t for me. I was initially drawn to the common sense approach and I know a number of people who have lost work through the programme but the tracking and daily weigh ins felt OTT and were reminiscent of things I did a few years ago when I didn’t have a very healthy relationship with food/weight. I keep meaning to cancel my monthly payment but I can’t remember when I signed up and if I’m tied into a contract.

I don’t know where exactly they’re from but I think R & R are fairly local to me. I actually saw Rachael in a supermarket once and she is teeny tiny in real life. I couldn’t resist having a peek into her basket and as you’d probably expect, it contained loads of fat free yoghurt, chicken and other forms of protein. Utterly joyless! I was dying to sneak her a pie and some doughnuts! 🤪

I used to really like TeamRH and followed them for about a year.

However it became more and more of an irritant when it was clear Richie has no joy in his life at all.

My final read of them was a few weeks back when he posted something about "how to treat your woman". It was all about Rachael and her weight journey etc.
To me so many red flags were popping up with relation to coercive control that I could barely finish reading it.

From that point I blocked them but I do worry for Rachael as I think she's in an abusive relationship without knowing it.

Well said as always!
Imagine employing a mortgage advisor and their advice was for you to (to quote a Richie special) "stop fingering your arsehole and stop being a lazy bastard"... if he wants to be taken seriously by people and throw legal threats and contracts around, he needs to sort his shit out himself. Pretty sure I'd have been sacked if I spoke to a client who was paying my company for my services... and told them they're talking a load of bollocks. I think people have every right to cancel if they feel threatened or upset by him!!

I never went on any of the groups, glad I didn't as that sounds awful. Kicking someone when they're down. That could deter someone altogether.

Guys like him are 10 a penny in the gym.

One thing I found distracting when R&R were doing a video together was that when she was talking (from a script) he would be silently mouthing all the words beside her 😂
There’s definitely something about their relationship that doesn’t sit well with me. I could be wrong but he seems very controlling of her and always has to profess how supportive he is of her, usually if someone has to big themselves up like that the opposite is true. She seems a bit like a Stepford Wife, she’s very beautiful and very lean but she cones across a bit like a robot going through the motions. It’s like he’s the puppet master and she’s a beautiful little blonde meek Pinocchio!

So glad I have found this thread. I have just decided today to give up on TEAM RH as it just does not work, the amount of calories I have to eat and targets or protein and fibre is just not sustainable at all, never mind the fact I have lost the grand total of 2.5lbs and when asking for help on numerous occasions got told to come back when I have completed a full 14 days on the plan at hitting all targets (even though I explained that there is no way I could eat all the calories that they said I have too). Also he is so rude and forceful to overweight people I am not actually sure how he gets people to sign up

My problem is not with Team RH as such, I have found the fitness plan they promote works fine for me so far. Apart from the fact that they pretend they care so much and are not solely after your money, till you realise they sneak into their terms and conditions that they will sell unpaid memberships on to debt collection. Can't say I ever had that with WW or SW.🤣🤔

I have a big problem with the debt collectors, sorry "management" they have instructed to collect on their behalf . Ashbourne Management are the most horrific company I've ever encountered.

They have absolutely no customer service skills, ignore genuine requests and questions, cannot provide vital documents unless it's a generic forward from their files.

They have tried to charge me random amounts of money with no explanation.. eventually told me a figure was worked out pro-rata after many emails back and forth. But still didn't explain why the amount was being charged.

Ashbourne Management were brought to court on 2011 Google it, it's all there to see what they were reprimanded for. Seems like they haven't changed their ways!

What makes sense is a calorie deficit. It’s their approach that I have a problem with. Berating people who don’t want to/can’t do “enough” steps... debt collectors. Their advice is questionable at best, and in some cases downright dangerous
If you like them, good for you. Myself and many others don't. The actual "plan" is fine enough, the people running it are rotten, money grabbing bastards. Exactly the same as Slimming World and Weight Watchers. Though I can't say I've ever had a threatening email or a bill for extra charges from these other slimming companies!
Yes exactly. Calorie deficit is probably the most sensible way to lose weight but they didn’t invent it so I have no idea where his God complex has come from. The way he talks down to people is disgusting and the debt collection stuff is just the lowest of the low. He’s also now basically encouraging people to develop an eating disorder to lose weight, as counting calories in medicine and lip balm is 100% eating disorder behaviour. If I’m right I think one of his affiliates also posted recently about logging medication, and lots of her followers were commenting really worried about the calories in medication they had to be on, it was awful.

I actually hate these fuckers.
They've put up a post asking if people remember to track everything - tea, coffee, sugar, and a 14 year old comment about sperm lololol.
People comment saying ooh, I've actually not been tracking tea/coffee etc. Some joke comments.

Then a few hours later they post AGAIN. This time mocking people who commented saying they didn't track everything 100%.

How anyone can idolize these bastards is beyond me.

I'm sure he did a fiona fat flaps something too. It's always women he uses as "bad" examples, never men
And it’s always “Sandra sitting on her arse watching Corrie eating crisps” not “working until 10pm at night on board reports because she’s career minded and working her arse off to get ahead”

This thread has opened my eyes a lot. I joined team rh 3weeks ago and have lost 6lb so far, and tbf its not the plan im finding fault with. The plan itself of counting calories, protein and fibre goals and walking lots make sense.

Its tje attitude surrounding it i dont like. This week richie put a post up lambasting people for sayinf eating healthy is expensive. Cue people agreeing and telling us how cheap aldi is, how much lentils cost and its all laziness. I posted around how for some people eating healthy is impossible- food deserts, food and fuel poverty,,etc. I posted how the cost of porridge is beside the point - im lucky i can either walk or fund transport to a cheap shop, am lucky i have the fuel with which to cook, am lucky that if i screw up a meal its only for me and ive not got crying toddlers amd no food in the cupboard. I pointed out that most of us are ok cooking dahl for hours as aside from having the momey to do, we can look forward to netflix and a warrm home, our comfort can come from things other than food. I signposted george orwells the rd to wigan pier and why if youre poor youre more likely to eat junk. Got not 1 like but people sharing how chesp lentils are got a personal reply off rh.

In the members fb group theres a member with a poorly toddler who is knavkered after a 12hr shift and who is desperate to fall asleep bit instead she 'stops being lazy' and stands next to the sleeping childs cot doing her steps. Lots of replies saying how wonderful and dedicated that is snd how easy it would be to give into the laziness. I posted advising it isnt laziness just exhaustion and sleeping is important but no reply.

'Making up steps' whixh makes it sound like ot cant be fun. Ive been in to doing sat down workouts in between work calls and my focus isn't on work but on weight loss which is bad.

Someone posted about doing their ankle in and wanting to get steps in - i was the only person who advised rest and to not try and workout. Others were saying not to drop your steps.

Apparently white bread, wraps, mayo etc ate shite! And if youre having wine and choc of an evening thats 20pc shite you cant have mayo on your chicken wrap. Ffs.

The whole calories in va calories out yet if youre not loosing its cos youre not hitting your protein or fibre.

Im all for going for walks which i actually really enjoy, and even a lunchtime sat dowm workout is fun, but stepping up and down mindlessly or getting up at 6am to do walkie talkies? Nope.

I hate how its always laziness, no it isnt. I actually posted this in the group and got shouted at 😂 by other menbers as i said its easy to tell someone to work harder and do cyz when the person saying this has few commitments themselves.

I posted how scanning every single thing cor lunch was taking too lomg (usually whack veg in a pan, atir thru grains, whack in halloumi, seperate inyo 2 bowls then halve ingredients. So if 88g halloumi in pit i halve it and 44g per portion). Been told thsts wrong and i need to spend 10mins creating a convoluted recipe on wfp. When in reality the food is getting eaten accross 2days so does it matter if its 50g on both days or 60g and 40g? Apparently, yes it does

Richie doesnt seem to listen to membets who dont sgree with him either. Ive not looked st the fb groups so much as it was getting to me tbh

Ive paid f the year so im gonnakeep going and see how ido asi have already lost , but no counting medications or obsessing over fb

I joined for a couple of months but didn’t really feel like I got much from it. Once you have watched the exercise videos there weren’t any new ones The calorie tracking uses My Fitness Pal, which is a free app.

My particular annoyance was ‘El’ and her marching on Facebook, who is she, she is irritating as!

When I joined a few years ago I was given 2000 calories based on 10000 steps and day and three workouts a week. Seemed do-able, the calories seemed very high when I was used to about 1500 when in “diet mode”. I got going but felt so sick from all the protein after a few days I couldn’t hack it. Had to start eating less in the end and now do a 6 diet days out of 7 approach to keep me motivated.

The pressure I felt when logging onto their app was ridiculous, trying to get a gold star. Ridiculous when I think back! It was far more pressure than I’ve ever felt at the numerous diet clubs I’ve attended over the years.

I probably am someone who appreciates the no bullshit approach. I used to roll my eyes at slimming world when we were clapping people who had put on three pounds but “done their best” despite eating three takeaways and a box of roses but he has really taken it to the extreme. I’m still in their Facebook group (they clearly never delete anyone) and the brainwashing that is going on is astonishing! Also those walkie talkies are just a massive pile of cringe.

They have made a hell of a lot of money from preying on vulnerable dieters and it’s worrying how unregulated it is.
