So glad I found this thread! I have been a member since last November and in that time had a major depressive episode and gained a stone, but made to feel like a lazy waste of space because 'no excuses!'. Sent my cancellation email to Ashbourne tonight and joined Preece nutrition, so thank you for the recommendation! I am another who thinks all is not well for Rachael, he is definitely controlling. I want to comment on their videos sometimes and say 'blink 3 times if you're being held against your will hun'.
You will be most welcome in the Preece Nutrition group. Totally agree about Rachael, he cannot possibly be a good partner when he is so controlling and blatantly lacks normal human emotion and empathy.

I think hes so controlling. Really regretting joining now. Have paid outtight so will follow plan but definitely not following their every move on fb. Its how he doesnt disclose what was said just how awful it is and how the fand rush to their aid despite not knowing them! Its how his personal life is splashed about and how he actually thinks tbe abuse and perfectionism as a result is a good thing (responsible morelling to clients there!). How when hes doi g videos its on rachels pglhpne and her mfp. I nust wonder how many boundaries rsxhel actually has. Poor thing. Hes a twat

If this was me, i would hate for 1000s of people to be told about this and showering me with Youre ao amazing platitudes as though they knew me - id rather forget the whole thing. Not have my twat of a boyfriend air my stuff in public

There are a few more people raising the point of free speecb and how petty it was and the potential consequences and how this is to be anticipated if you work in the public eye ... tons more richie fans arguing back but there are some sensible folk!

That last sentence sounds quite aggressive to me ...
He’s so aggressive. If he loves her so much why doesn’t he ever do anything nice for her? It’s all work, work, work, push, push, push. They’re always claiming they’ve had takeaways and stuff but there’s never any photos of that. Just of the veg they eat. 🙄

This has been such an interesting read. I follow RH and so many people recommend them but I think they have just been sucked in (probably through fear) I’m off to look at Preece Nutrition. I used to be part of Munro Fitness and really liked Jason. I lost over 40lbs and looked amazing. Losing weight is only done in a calorie deficit and once you know how to calculate it you don’t need to pay anyone.
I found it odd when he was talking about women’s periods stopping - team RH. It worried me that someone unqualified in the medical profession was giving advice.
I bloody love Liam from Rebelfit he’s ace.

He’s posted a message from someone asking him to address it. It’s so blatantly aimed at RH. I think RH and Rebelfit have had public debates before if I remember correctly. Good on him for having the balls to call out the nonsense.

The comments are very telling, loads of folk saying it’s obviously RH as the word “aggressive” was used. Imagine being able to be identified by that adjective, not kind, funny, intelligent, quirky or anything but aggressive. Definitely doing something wrong if that’s how people label you.

Aggressive is right
My main issue is this whole being trapped for a year
Even sw lets people cancel if they want to

I may be wrong but when there was the split with the affiliates. Big man allegedly threatened one of the affiliates that NN were going to sue them.as they had posted about another protein powder on their page.

The NN people liked one of her pics or commented (sorry my memory is not the best) so she dm'd him and said she was surprised they were liking/commenting on her post.and with the legal stuff probably best not to.

The NN people supposedly said wtf you talking about so she explained showed them.screenshots of what big man had been saying and they weren't too happy as they knew nothing about it and didn't want dragging in to it. (Not happy with big man not the affiliate)

If someone else was in the break away group and remembers it better than me they can add or correct me if I am remembering it wrongly.

I was a member and left after all of the bullying came out. I was always scared to ask for help in case he publicly shamed me with one of his ranty videos
The ''big man'' was threatening an affiliate to close her page because she started to promote someone who also teaches calorie deficit (He got contracts in trying to prevent anyone else trying to help the fitness industry, only he/they can tell the truth). He was his usual manipulative self pretending he does not want to get legal with her, it is Natural Nutrients that do. So when the affiliate spoke to Natural Nutrients, they had no clue what was even happening. To be honest Natural Nutrients are decent people and do not care about controlling what people say.

It has became dishonest in my opinion that one moment they all say one protein powder is the best, but then drop that and push another when that becomes their agenda.

I came across a video of theirs the other day, and after a friend said it, I have to agree that Rachael has lost all her sparkle, absolutely not the same person in my opinion.

Yes think you’ve got it spot on. Now lo and behold they’re peddling their own protein powder!

I was always scared to ask anything too, he’s a horror. No one should make anyone feel like that, least of all people who are paying your wages! He’s had issues with way too many people now for it to be any of the other party’s fault - definitely not the mr genuine he claims, just wish the sheep in his group could see it!
It is cult like, we were all like that at one stage. But yes you are right, there are way too many issues for it not to be his fault.

It actually never occurred to me til I’ve just read these comments that his examples were always women. He definitely has some mum issues for sure. He’s probably getting ideas for content by reading here! I genuinely think the ex affiliate is speaking total truth, even when threatened with legal action she stuck to her word, then James Smith’s legal team got involved i’m sure.

This thread has opened my eyes a lot. I joined team rh 3weeks ago and have lost 6lb so far, and tbf its not the plan im finding fault with. The plan itself of counting calories, protein and fibre goals and walking lots make sense.

Its tje attitude surrounding it i dont like. This week richie put a post up lambasting people for sayinf eating healthy is expensive. Cue people agreeing and telling us how cheap aldi is, how much lentils cost and its all laziness. I posted around how for some people eating healthy is impossible- food deserts, food and fuel poverty,,etc. I posted how the cost of porridge is beside the point - im lucky i can either walk or fund transport to a cheap shop, am lucky i have the fuel with which to cook, am lucky that if i screw up a meal its only for me and ive not got crying toddlers amd no food in the cupboard. I pointed out that most of us are ok cooking dahl for hours as aside from having the momey to do, we can look forward to netflix and a warrm home, our comfort can come from things other than food. I signposted george orwells the rd to wigan pier and why if youre poor youre more likely to eat junk. Got not 1 like but people sharing how chesp lentils are got a personal reply off rh.

In the members fb group theres a member with a poorly toddler who is knavkered after a 12hr shift and who is desperate to fall asleep bit instead she 'stops being lazy' and stands next to the sleeping childs cot doing her steps. Lots of replies saying how wonderful and dedicated that is snd how easy it would be to give into the laziness. I posted advising it isnt laziness just exhaustion and sleeping is important but no reply.

'Making up steps' whixh makes it sound like ot cant be fun. Ive been in to doing sat down workouts in between work calls and my focus isn't on work but on weight loss which is bad.

Someone posted about doing their ankle in and wanting to get steps in - i was the only person who advised rest and to not try and workout. Others were saying not to drop your steps.

Apparently white bread, wraps, mayo etc ate shite! And if youre having wine and choc of an evening thats 20pc shite you cant have mayo on your chicken wrap. Ffs.

The whole calories in va calories out yet if youre not loosing its cos youre not hitting your protein or fibre.

Im all for going for walks which i actually really enjoy, and even a lunchtime sat dowm workout is fun, but stepping up and down mindlessly or getting up at 6am to do walkie talkies? Nope.

I hate how its always laziness, no it isnt. I actually posted this in the group and got shouted at 😂 by other menbers as i said its easy to tell someone to work harder and do cyz when the person saying this has few commitments themselves.

I posted how scanning every single thing cor lunch was taking too lomg (usually whack veg in a pan, atir thru grains, whack in halloumi, seperate inyo 2 bowls then halve ingredients. So if 88g halloumi in pit i halve it and 44g per portion). Been told thsts wrong and i need to spend 10mins creating a convoluted recipe on wfp. When in reality the food is getting eaten accross 2days so does it matter if its 50g on both days or 60g and 40g? Apparently, yes it does

Richie doesnt seem to listen to membets who dont sgree with him either. Ive not looked st the fb groups so much as it was getting to me tbh

Ive paid f the year so im gonnakeep going and see how ido asi have already lost , but no counting medications or obsessing over fb
Christ, sounds like it's got worse 🤦🏼‍♀️ if that's possible! They are really toxic. Denying yourself anything is literally diet culture, the very thing they take the piss out of. I stopped using his ridiculous methods of stressing over fibre and protein, I have counted my cals 100%, without walking a million steps a day and I'm losing weight very easily on a good budget of 1600cals. A lot quicker and a more pleasant experience, than his suggested 1800 cals and a bare min of 5000 steps.

It IS a cult and his members are so desperate to be part of the cool kids, not many will pipe up and say how they really feel.

When I joined a few years ago I was given 2000 calories based on 10000 steps and day and three workouts a week. Seemed do-able, the calories seemed very high when I was used to about 1500 when in “diet mode”. I got going but felt so sick from all the protein after a few days I couldn’t hack it. Had to start eating less in the end and now do a 6 diet days out of 7 approach to keep me motivated.

The pressure I felt when logging onto their app was ridiculous, trying to get a gold star. Ridiculous when I think back! It was far more pressure than I’ve ever felt at the numerous diet clubs I’ve attended over the years.

I probably am someone who appreciates the no bullshit approach. I used to roll my eyes at slimming world when we were clapping people who had put on three pounds but “done their best” despite eating three takeaways and a box of roses but he has really taken it to the extreme. I’m still in their Facebook group (they clearly never delete anyone) and the brainwashing that is going on is astonishing! Also those walkie talkies are just a massive pile of cringe.

They have made a hell of a lot of money from preying on vulnerable dieters and it’s worrying how unregulated it is.
Yeah i also appreciate the no bullshit approach too but...... theres a massive difference between telling it like it is and just being damn right nasty to people!
I left the Facebook group seeing all those people massaging his already inflated ego made me feel sick!
I remember once him doing a live in his kitchen about macros with his top off!! Really loves himself!

Exactly the same story.
Signed up in Feb. Shocking App. Shocking quality of videos. Facebook Lives lasting ages to get a simple message across.
Cancelled DD after a horrendous time trying to access the app.
Now Ashbourne is asking for £28 to cover the payment and their fee. When it bounces again next month, will they demand another £28?

Thankfully on James Smith Academy now and learning (and losing fat) so much more. On his live video yesterday somebody asked if he gets on with Team RH. He said no. They have blocked him from all platforms without any explanation despite no interaction.

Anyone with any advice around Ashbourne not affacting my credit score? Took years to improve and now rosea nosed twat is ballsing it up for me. 😡

Team RH gave me their email when I wanted to cancel.
I'm getting all sorts of shit on Instagram for calling them out. I have no morals apparantly. Because I wanted to get into shape after having a baby I'm not enjoying him being a baby and I jumped in too soon.
That’s shocking
It’s like a cult
If they don’t stop hounding me I will have to publicly call them out on their social media
Which I didn’t really want to be bothered doing but needs must

I want to know this too. I'm considering signing up with Preece, what's the plan like in comparison to Team RH?
I found them pretty useless. Can use mfp & watch better exercise videos on YouTube for free.
I signed up to Preece Nutrition earlier this week after being a TeamRH member and first impressions are that the Preece Nutrition group feels a lot less chaotic, it just feels calm, and everyone is supportive and helpful. I never posted or commented on the TeamRH page because I didn’t feel comfortable doing so and didn’t want to become the subject of one of Richie’s rants, but I’ve done both on Preece and I’ve not even been on there a week yet! Peter is lovely; he says he’s available between 9am and 10pm (I think) but when I first signed up (late at night) I sent a message and he replied at 1:30am! Said he saw it before he went to bed so thought he’d just reply. I’ve messaged a couple times since and he’s always replied personally by voice note; you’d never get that with RH unless you were one of their favoured members maybe.

As someone above said there’s different plans, relaxed (calorie counting only) and lifestyle (calorie counting and macros) - I didn’t see an option of a third plan though? - and you either pay £4.99pm or £49.99 for the year but no contracts, though I’m not sure if they’d refund you if you signed up for the year then cancelled, I didn’t check as I’ve signed up on a month by month basis for now.

Agree completely. There are very few people who take it off and keep it off using the slimming club method. Just because RH and co aren’t doing it Little Britain style doesn’t mean they’re any different.

Im glad you 'saw the light' before it was to late!! Really awful person
I cant understand what the affiliates get out of it apart from a few quid?? Its mind boggling!
When your whole life becomes about maintaining weight loss, what better way than to work in the industry? Many times I’ve wanted to do the same because it gives you a higher level of control and legitimacy for your obsessive behaviour. “I have to do all these steps and calorie count everything it’s my JOB” helps them normalise it all.

The more team RH post, the more pissed off I get. He seems very negative, unprofessional and a general knob head!

I’m so glad I didn’t sign up in the end.

So sorry to hear this. The calories they set clients are ridiculous. Depending on a persons height, weight, gender, activity levels 1400 calories may be required for weight loss. It is not dangerous. So many people shout about being in ‘starvation mode’ when this isn’t something we need to worry about. I believe that they clients huge calorie allowances to draw them in ‘no starving on our plan, fill your boots’. To lose weight it is all calorie deficit. You could do it without working out (wouldn’t recommend it though, exercise has many benefits and shouldn’t he used just for weight loss). I’m a qualified nutritionist and weight management consultant and bouncing around 24/7 in your living room whilst deep throating a banana is not required for weight loss. Just know you gave it your all and did everything they asked x

As a current member, I have felt so fed up with the group! Finally, somewhere where you can discuss issues and not get shut down for having an opinion that differs from the cult of TRH. I do feel it’s become like a cult, full of sycophants and woe betide the non believers.

*Long Post*
I do not have any issue with the concept of the plan. I think it’s obvious to state that every individual burns calories at differing rates and requires a calorie deficit specific to them for it to work.
My own experience was that I had been diagnosed as pre- diabetic, whilst not grossly overweight by most people’s standards, I was classed as obese by the NHS for my height. I managed to very, very slowly lose weight using MFP but still had a stone and a half to lose. I’d watched Richie and his page for many years and decided to join up.

I was set a calorie amount which I thought was way to high but I thought, maybe I’ve been eating too little and that’s why I’ve stalled? Set my steps at 10k and workout 3 times a week. Off we go...
I put weight on from the very first week. I upped my steps... they upped my calories... I upped my workouts and they wanted to up my calories. After 2 months and no weight loss.. ( bearing in mind I’m now half a stone heavier than when I started), I asked for help. The help was forthcoming but it wasn’t err, helpful. I spoke to a coach, their ‘top coach’ who went through all my data on MFP and the app. I had been the perfect client and tracked everything and she couldn’t find fault with anything apart from I’d added a slice of brown bread but hadn’t weighed it... twice. She told me tracking generically would cost me a lot of calories long term doing this. She also told me there was nothing wrong with what I was eating/drinking/ exercising and to stick at it. I explained I was legitimately concerned I’d gained weight and it wasn’t budging. I was also worried that I was in fact now maintaining considering all the exercise I was doing ( well over 15k a day on most days). She said it was likely muscle gains. She told me to trust the plan. So I did.
Cut to just after 3 months and now working out 5 times a week ( resistance training), 15k a day steps. No weight lost. Muscle definition coming through but my waist is getting bigger and so is my stomach. I contact the coaches and as I’d done progress pictures, I felt the undeniable truth was there for them to see. I was told they could see a difference. ( Yes, I’d got fatter!! ) When I asked them to specify where they saw physical differences in the pictures, they didn’t answer me. They told me to do more steps... and tried to make me up my calories and I refused. I pointed out I was now back to my dangerous pre diabetic weight and i had concerns about my health. I told them I’d had to buy bigger clothes as I couldn’t fit in old ones.
I felt the responses were literally cut and pasted from a data base of TRH material. Look at this video... follow these rules... absolutely felt like they didn’t have the expertise to address my very individual concerns. Found out that the coach is not qualified. Just someone who uses TRH and works out a lot by the look of it. No one ever said.. go and get checked at your Dr, this is unusual or anything remotely like that. Just stick to the plan. I had to negotiate to drop my calorie amount down to 1400 ( lowering my exercise days and steps) and when I said I wasn’t losing I was told that it was impossible not to Lose weight at 1400 calories, and Equating this amount to something a 7 year old child would Eat. So I was told to stick at it and get back in touch in 2 weeks.
Well I haven’t, I am so utterly disillusioned with their approach. I am doing it on my own again. As someone who gave it their all for 3 months I feel as though I didn’t fit Richies data “algorithm’ and no one could tell me why. Still
Paying as a member.
Due to his controlling nature I couldn’t even find members to speak to for their experiences, as he squashed the calorie clubs. His ego is out of control and I can’t bear to read the POD posts. It’s so false.

For all Richie knows that guy could have been a sole earner with kids to feed / rent to pay. Actual trolling is horrible and I know far too well about being bullied but if it was so bad that it was in dangerous territory then he could have gone to the police and filed a report. If I had a partner who went behind my back to someone's employer because of a message about me I'd be fuming and would be rethinking the relationship.

Also that post about not drinking pop - he posted this on the 15th...

View attachment 444664
He literally makes up nonsense rules all the time. He’s a pseudoscientific fool with no qualifications other than “smash it”

That is absolutely DISGUSTING!!!! I am furious at that post! Why has everyone not unfollowed him there and then? That is fat shaming in my book. Fatty bum bums? If he said that to my face he certainly would never ever type that again.

Is the term ''fatty bum bums'' not fatshaming? I am someone who is not wet behind the ears and it takes a lot to offend me, but I find that absolutely vile! They wonder why they get stick on social media, no the wonder!!!

He is a dime short of a dollar, yet has the power to influence over 250k followers, very scary!

I think personally someone will kill themselves one day due to this man, not the company or the plan, the man who runs it. All the ingredients are there. He is happy to go wreck someones life revealing things to their employer. At least if he revealed what was said there could be some empathy, however knowing him, someone has probably said Rachael's lipstick didnt match her shirt and world war 3 has occurred.
Apparently another nutritionist regularly gets people in their inbox saying how they are suicidal after having worked with real rh. I was getting body dysmorphia issues and panic attacks from being with them. It’s a horrible atmosphere.

I’m sorry, but this isn’t professional at all!
And yet, when you get to your weight loss goal, they encourage you to put fat (and muscle 🙄) back on but change the language to “fluff” instead of fat and make it out to be a good thing.

I’ve done team Rh and just paid for the year too. To be honest I thought I’d have to cancel or contact them at the end of the year but i just received an email with a cancellation date and it was easy. I think if you sign a 12 month contract and then stop paying after 2-3 months they they are within their right to seek the full payment. How they go about it is a different matter though.

Imagine employing a mortgage advisor and their advice was for you to (to quote a Richie special) "stop fingering your arsehole and stop being a lazy bastard"... if he wants to be taken seriously by people and throw legal threats and contracts around, he needs to sort his shit out himself. Pretty sure I'd have been sacked if I spoke to a client who was paying my company for my services... and told them they're talking a load of bollocks. I think people have every right to cancel if they feel threatened or upset by him!!
Exactly, it’s not as though anyone is getting a particularly decent or professional service - his manner and language are disgusting, most queries are answered by unqualified “coaches”, Richie and Rachael aren’t qualified in nutrition, the app is rubbish and the calorie clubs (where people actually got a little bit of support) were stopped so he could control everything. Therefore I would say it’s totally fair that people cancel because the service is not what was promised! And yes people sign up to a contract but if he’s such a good guy and not in it for the money then why not let people cancel without crazy fines?
