It seems super weird! She must get a lot for the ads that she does, and probably had help buying the house from her parents. I'm curious to whether Zack contributed to buying the house or whether it's completely Jess', or even owned by her mum though I'm assuming it's Jess'.

I just find it so odd. He's v lucky to get to live her lifestyle, though maybe his family have money too. I wouldn't want to be that dependent on my partner - first living in her mum's house where Jess has her own floor of the house, then moving into this new house which is having major expensive renovations done, and now also being her employee? I know we don't see much of him but I get the impression that they seem happy (though I have nothing to base this on haha), but I think being in a relationship, living together and working together is a bit much.

Also giving up his chef training to work with her is crazyyyy. Especially when she said he was asked by the head chef to be his apprentice? Seems like a good opportunity if it's something hes serious about, though maybe he was tempted by the easy life working for Jess. Guess he will have a lot of downtime while she's napping and reading ..
That’s the part I found post peculiar that he was willing to give up apprenticeship to work with Jess? She was obviously paying higher than they were

Does she have a mortgage
She does have a mortgage - I remember her mentioning it a couple of times in vlogs.

Once when they were initially looking at houses, she said that part of the reason they wanted to buy at that time was that interest rates were low, so it was a good time to get a mortgage. Another time she mentioned that they (meaning her and Zak) had mortgage payments now.

I was surprised tbh - I also thought that her parents had probably bought the house in cash and that Jess and Zak were paying for the renovations.

A couple more pics have been uploaded to Instagram. She’s wearing baggy clothing but then again this girl has always loved stuff oversized. What we thinking guys... pregnant or not pregnant?
I don’t think so. I’d be surprised if she was

Bookandquills housemate, Rosianna does great book reviews too. It’s hard to find booktubers that don’t read YA, think that’s why I still always watch Jess’ reviews even though she’s just pouring out goodreads opinions.

Urgh.

She lives of her parents money, got the best education money could buy, supported through uni, then a masters, was taken on amazing educatonial holidays and repays that investment by doing sweet fa all day - she is a lazy parasite leeching off others hard work.

She gives nothing back to society or to her viewers and will continue to be a leech as long as she can, she should be working as an able bodied adult, contributing to society in some way. A job that might not be for monetary gains but to help her community or to help the arts that she claims to love.
Can you really not see that?
I find her lazy attitude absolutely disgusting, her parents must be shocked and saddened that all of their time and all of their hard work to educate her has led to this apathy. How can you not follow that train if thought and only come back with you must be jEaLoUs.
Seriously?
Disguised and disappointed - yes. This woman had a lot of potential and so many privileges and opportunities not available to the majority and chooses to rot away in a bathtub with a paperback.

Amelia liana also has filthy rich parents but churns out the cheesy cheery content on a fairly regular basis, even does the odd bit of charity work to give back. Jess could have done a podcast om books, apparently a passion of hers, but instead plops for half arsed book reviews heavily comprised of stealing other people's reviews off goodreads. Just like stealing a degree by paying others to write essays for you.
Do the work yourself.

I do know a little of AU healthcare, not as much as you will living there but it is veryyyyy different to UK healthcare, especially now. Individuals in the UK simply cannot choose any health treatment here, maybe in theory but the reality is different. Advantages of paying through the nose for a private birth is seeing the same consultant throughout and having them (hopefully) at the c section. They will helpfully guide you to a c section, it's more convenient for them as they won't be dragged back into hospital at 3am, and as a bonus they can charge more for it! I am angry at the huge gap betwen private and public healthcare yes. All of us in the UK should be horrified at the lack of investment in it, we will probably all use it at some point.

Lastly moving forward you might consider writing 'people' who give birth, to be properly inclusive.

Thanks my loves, if anyone read this.
This is the weirdest thing I have ever heard. LOL. All women are people.

I know it's completely not the case but I get 'scarcity marketing' vibes from Jess. I LOVE her book content but it's so scarce it makes me super impatient and super excited for it haha. I know that's not her reasoning but it works for me

Her life doesn't stop because she's becoming a mother, she could absolutely pursue a PhD in a few years if she wants to. But maybe she will enjoy being a mother and won't feel the need to do one, and that's fine too.

She seems happy so I'm happy for her and Zak! I also hope that her mom's health gets better and better, I'm sure that she's very happy to become a grandmother.
I wasn’t suggesting it would end. Just that I never ever expected her to be a young mum

She moved back in with her mum and stepdad, did a master's, bought a house that's being renovated. That's pretty much it! Zak became a chef for a bit and is now unemployed as he's helping Jess with whatever the hell she does... Bit of an anomaly!

Edit: oh and her mum was recently diagnosed with lymphoma.
was he unemployed as a result of covid? Thats awful news if thats the case and incredibly awful about her mum.

im astonished that she hasnt done anything with her degree and masters or gone on to do something great. Back when I watched her at uni i always got the impression she would go on to do great things and be successful

what is it her mum does that means she can fund jess’ lifestyle

If this was a typical weight gain, wouldn't it show on her face, legs and arms too? Idk, it sort of looks like a pregnant belly to me. She also sounded out of breath a few times in the vlog.
Depends where she gains weight, she may well just gain it there, plus with the size and shape of her clothing, we wouldn’t be able to see the growth in her arms etc

There must be some sort of guilt element on the parents part? Or else why would they just let her sponge off their money pretty much doing nothing. In the end though if she ever has to work it will be through a connection to mummy or daddy. She’ll just fall into a well paid job anyway. Connections eh

Their house decor is easily searchable on the internet. The company that did their design posted pictures.

You know this isn’t a tribunal deciding on Jess’ future right? We all know our opinion will have no bearing on her life lol.
I’m stating my opinion, just as everyone else. No one is talking about this being a “tribunal”.

Credit where it is due she seems to be one of the few white influencers who appears to be thinking and communicating seriously about BLM.
Yes, and she has been doing that for years, way before this situation. She has been saying it has been a systemic and societal problem, it was because of her that I have read some black authors. If she hadn't recommended that, I would have never know

I think it’s sensible to criticize Zak’s career choices as it’s relevant to him as an individual person, but there are certain ways (again, not to dismiss all criticisms) of judging on the basis of their relationship that rely on gender norms that really don’t do anyone any good.
That's fair. I'll reiterate that I have no issue with Zak performing a 'househusband' role. I think mostly there's genuine curiosity around the choices Jess makes because she's so guarded about her personal life.

Quite frankly - as with her ambition, work ethic and career choice - I think people on here often have higher expectations for Jess than she possibly has for herself.

It's really not the type of book I see her reading if she weren't expecting...

I'm honestly baffled at the thought of her being pregnant. She has never given hints about wanting to start a family soon, so this came as quite a shock to me. Guess 2020 really is full of surprises.
I can’t imagine her with a baby because she already thinks her life is ‘busy’!!
