she could literally turn her little patreon blog posts to vlogs, use them as things to talk about & maybe show or whatever. can’t believe people are actually willing to pay for that. i’m yet to check out the discord

edit: also not her talking about how she just subscribed to appletv, girl weren’t you allegedly struggling

idk, she’s talking about feeling excited about things again, so we’ll see

now that i’ve gone through her patreon & discord, i can’t believe the audacity to charge people those prices. i’ve only ever once been a member of someone’s patreon before; it’s an artist who posts original artwork pretty consistently & their lowest tier is $3, second is $6, and highest is $10, but you get a lot of perks, see behind the scenes process, can send in requests, etc.

people are just paying to chat & maybe to get a reply from her & then have a zoom meeting once a month.

i used to be a fan of her, but i can’t make excuses for her anymore

^same, she's totally ruined herself for me. I used to watch her old Vlogtober/Vlogmas series in the fall for nostalgia but now those aren't even enjoyable to me anymore. Maybe partly because I'm no longer at that college/uni stage in life but definitely also because I see that she was never relatable, and was always hiding part of her life intentionally.

honestly, i don't understand why she couldn't have come up with new video concepts. she wants to be a booktuber & occasionally post a vlog? that's fine, there's so many cool book video ideas, you don't have to only post your monthly reads & book hauls. & instead of creating discord threads/channels/whatever, maybe start replying to your youtube comments... it's not like she gets that many comments these days anyway, shouldn't be that hard to get back to people on youtube, ig, twitter, tiktok. but, i guess since there's no money involved with replying to these people, she can't be bothered. i'm probably repeating everything that has already been said here, but i've been away lol :D

could've filmed a cool vlog or two in the states, but nah

5 mill a year! That’s absolute madness.

The more I learn of this world, the more I want to retreat into a socialist utopia of my own imagining.

Right? A lot of the booktubers I watch have certain genres or series, usually fantasy, which she claims to love, that they revisit for TONS of content. There are channels that do almost nothing but content on like Sanderson and Sarah Maas books. She should be able to get more than a 3-minute summary out of each of her books.

Yes but that would require *effort* and *thought* 😬😅

70 hr weeks?doubt it at her level tho no doubt when younger/more junior. But not currently especially when you factor in her serious illness

No amount of work deserves five million pounds a year.
Yes but big American corporate law firms make huge amounts of profit, much of which is shared out between partners. It might not be fair but that’s life and the way the world works.

Agreed. She’s at a bigUS firm and was poached from being the head of department at a magic circle.

Don’t forget her step dad was also a very successful lawyer at the same magic circle firm as her mum (albeit now retired). Basically there is a huge amount of earnt wealth from 3 parents regardless of any generational wealth there may have been.
& if law firms are similar to accounting firms, you get a huge payout when you retire, a lot of them can actually make more money from retiring because they’ll go sit on the board of a company, turn up a few times a year and take a big pay
