I just can’t see it being a publicity stunt - why have pap shots of him smoking and looking like bored? And what’s in it for her - for people who aren’t SCD fans his rep is, as a DM comment brutally put it, as a ‘fanny rat’. So for her to be linked to him is a very mixed blessing.

I suspect it’s his usual pattern - love-bombing (he looked very into her in the final hug, invited her to the birthday party), got bored, and maybe didn’t think it wouid make the papers. I don’t think he’d have started something with a co-star if he wasn’t into it.
Now, if he’s been a dick to her, he has to negotiate both her and the others in the cast..

I've got the feeling Strictly were strong armed into hiring him for some reason at this point.

I think both the network and the show want to keep it as diverse as possible and I get the impression from looking at couples in dance competitions that there is a lack of black ballroom/latin dancers and they struck gold getting Oti & Johannes. Many Asians and some from Latin American backgrounds but not many from Africa or of African heritage. So their options may have been limited and they might have taken a gamble on Cameron thinking he'd grow into it. Even DWTS in America has struggled with this.

I think Cameron and possibly Michelle are not included in this years line up. But who knows?

I wonder how Michelle went down with the show last year. She did participate in many of the numbers and was on tour but not sure she really made an impact. Not sure she really has the 'it' factor to be a main pro with a celeb (though she & Tyler would have been a good looking pairing).

Now Lauren I think made a bit of impact but if she comes back and wants a partner then I don’t think she can continue (next year) to tour with Gio - as ideally wouldnt they want a new pro who will do either live tour/and or the professional tour. I hope Luba gets a partner.

The episode I saw I thought Gio seemed semi-detached from everything - he didn't seem to have a massive personal investment in anything they saw but he is also quite an odd personality so maybe that was it, as well as him leaving at a young age.
I honestly preferred Alan and Amanda, even though I'm not a fan of either of them, but they did seem to have some investment in being in Sicily.. I guess the final episode has his family in it so maybe that will have the big personal aspect.

I also found the 'intimate chat' while camping about settling down quite fake - it also seemed knowingly juxtaposed with the arrival of his one true love, Rose (even though Rose was giving off big 'bestie' vibes)

I find the whole N&K love story extremely cringeworthy and Jowita and Giovanni lasted less time than a tv advert. He is incomprehensible when it comes to women.

God LL posting reviews like a proud mother! (only the positive ones though).

I thought it was interesting that someone said that Gio doesn't actually seem to have a strong connection to Sicily: he left home when he was a teenager, and barely goes home as far as I know. (Last year I remember he went home after wining with Rose and stayed for like 3 days before he and Kai went off to that Saga holiday in Portofino..).
Meanwhile Graz is never away from Italy, and Vito is always at home too and is always going on about being Neapolitan..

Does anybody know who that strange elder lady was who flew kai and Gio away? I have read various rumours- one being that they were escorts ( not in the typical sense, more just young men she could spend on) for her. Nonsense I’m sure of course

I think Gio should just embrace who he is (a manwhore who vaguely wants a girlfriend but loves instababes with big tits and the thrill of the chase/like button). Might not make a very good BBC series though..

In Dan Walker’s book there is a chapter on Nadiya and her mum committed herself to supporting her dance career and travelling with her, whilst her dad went and had an entire second family behind their backs. How delightful

ETA: from everything I’ve heard about Shirley and Corky and their marriage, living with them sounds like an unholy hellscape.

Supposedly she is married to a wealthy UK businessman and Gio is friends with the family and has stayed with them before and gone on their private plane. It was probably us who suggested they were escorts (I remember suggestions that they would be forced to dance to 'You Can Leave Your Hat On' at midnight)! More likely they got a few nights free stay at the hotel Nonna and her family were at, which just happened to be full of older people.

I hope Kai has a good security team for that Donaheys girl. Though I reckon behind that sweet facade Nadiya could drop-kick her if needed.
