Rose and Giovanni - stunning. The last lift, I had no idea if it had gone right or wrong! Noticed she was counting more than she’s done since the early days - nerves? She can’t do wrong in my eyes. But…did Shirley actually say she BLOCKED OUT the noise and chatter of Rhys? I think she meant for everyone else but you could’ve worded it better Shirl!
i agree with you on all counts but especially about the lift. i gasped because i was positive it had gone wrong as it looked, to me, like she misjudged the speed and so hit the floor heavily on the first spin. but no one mentioned it and they replayed it on the way to claudia so who knows! she was incredibly brave for doing it, i would never.

Rose and Gio are so confident they will get thought they don’t even story to ask for votes .....
The Sun saying Aj and Kai confirm romance. Yes I know it’s the sun !! 🤪🤪
I quite like that they dont beg for votes after the show...
I found it quite irritating from AJ and Kai tonight (they're the only ones I follow so don't know if the others did it...)

Just getting caught up on tonight's show, I reckon a Dan and AJ bottom two with Dan going...Rose and Rhys were both absolutely fab tonight and I wish Johannes would stop trying to outdance John, it's getting tedious now!
It's almost like an insecurity of his. Every other Pro can dance down so I'm not buying he just gets so excited excuse he is making that choice consciously.

I'd quite gadly through myself headfirst at Giovanni at any given moment (crashmat or no)

I’m catching up, but it almost felt like Johannes was sabotaging their dance?! John danced really well, I’d love to dance with him! Johannes was manic 😬
Johannes makes it all about him. If there is such a thing as a ham dancer, like there is a ham actor, then he is the very definition. He is so OTT he just looks like a parody of a dancer.

Like the Paso it was created outside choreographers, I wonder if they get a bit excited to show of their work via AJ that the throw everything at it forgetting she needs to be able to pull off the dance on the night whilst keeping her nerves in check.
When it's entirely Kai's choreo she really shines and seems so much more comfortable with the dance.
Why did they have external choreographers for their paso? I thought it was only the speciality dances outside of ten dance that they brought those in for (salsa, AT, Charleston).

Kai was a junior Latin champion so I’d have hoped he could put a decent paso together. ☹

Completely agree

I also think johannes is an awful pro, he is so caught up in his own story and performance he doesn't focus on his partners. He never does, he puts himself first and doesn't adjust his performance to his celebs level.

I like Johannes but agree he does do this. I first noticed it in his Charleston with Catherine Tyldesely (which I still loved) and I see it all the time now. I felt bad for her and I feel bad for John.

I think it's harsh to say he's awful - he does overdance but he has a delightful personality, has forged a great relationship with John with some really good routines and is doing something really difficult: choreographing routines for another man to do, when he's always been competing solely with female partners during his career.

It was never quite explained, it came across like they wanted to do something NEW so they sent the in house choreographers to meddle. Whilst Kai is on ITT saying he still wants to keep the traditional elements, I got the impression he lost the battle. Hence the total mish mash of a routine and theme. I didn't even realise it was meant to be set in a Desert!

Having seen almost a full series of Johannes with John, I wonder how Catherine Tyldesley would have done with another pro. She looked like a potential journey candidate on paper but just didn't get anywhere. I take Caroline out of the equation as she was likely a difficult celeb to work with.

Johannes has his place on the show and is generally popular but unless they recruit another Ashley Roberts style celeb that can fully match him, I think this will probably be his one and only year going really far.

When Jason Gilkison was interviewed on It Takes Two the other week, he said that the dance team were around to assist the pros if they needed it or wanted someone to bounce ideas off, so it happens. I'm not sure where the idea that the paso had outside choreo comes from, but have seen it mentioned a few times so maybe missed where they said so

He can learn, also. Giovanni used to do this in early series, but now he's absolutely pitch-perfect. So to speak.

There were photos/videos of them training with the team far more in-depth than the choreo team giving them a pass by. Pretty sure AJ and Kai thanked them too.

Catherine LOVES Johannes though. She’s always posting about him during Strictly. He must be a nice person to work with at least!

I love him & John. They get my votes most weeks. I really don’t get the hate at all. That said, I want Rose to win 😂 & I want Rhys & Dan to go.. I don’t care which. Given Rhys dance this week (fair play, it was good but I think mostly from Nancys incredible dancing), dear god can we get rid of Dan. His tango was dire 😭

John and Johannes - I think Johannes is an amazing dancer and has choreographed some great stuff for the show but agree with most here - he HAS to stop outdancing his partner because it's having the opposite effect to what he wants. It makes his partner look poor - look at someone like Giovanni, he's not the focal point of any of his dances, he always lets his celebrity shine and choreographs to their strengths. I don't actually watch him that much when they're on the dancefloor, I watch his partner (and that's saying something). You can be a fantastic dancer but a bad Strictly pro, I think Johannes falls into that category.

Rhys and Nancy - I canNOT see what other people see in this guy. I thought this was so pedestrian?! Even my other half watching (who has all the dance knowledge and grace of a pregnant wildebeest) thought it was rubbish, not dynamic at all. Totally overmarked.

Giovanni and Rose - I smiled ALL the way through, it was just so light and lovely and perfect, I was furious that Craig didn't give this a 10. That lift! To be fair, if Giovanni asked me nicely I'd dive headfirst through a window so I can understand how she got up the courage, but it was still a real heart in mouth moment.

Dan and Nadiya - crap, got halfway through and skipped it.

AJ and Kai - just tried to fit way too much in. Some of it was great but it all got a bit manic and frantic, like some of Rhys' dances have been. I know that salsa is meant to be a party dance but it needed way more control, some of her arm movements were wild and as Craig mentioned, the landings from some of the early lifts were really dicey. I really hope she doesn't go out off the back of that performance though, I still think she's fantastic and deserves to be in the final.

Giovanni shines because he lets his celebrity shine.

Johannes is fabulous and one of my favourite pros and this is the first year that I have felt he’s outshined but perhaps that is because in comparison - John is actually brilliant technically dancing so in that sense you want to see him being the star cos he is capable of it. I think a lot of it has come from the fact with Johns physique it’s meant he’s leading a lot rather than decorating the dance how Johannes does. I hope I make sense saying that 😂

I don’t get Rhys & Nancy either @majestic26 .. Nancy completely carried that dance. She danced around him magnificently!

I give you, the Memorial Gio Samba Spins, while Laura Whitmore stands like a divvy in the corner! 🤣
