I just started playing Stardew Valley last week 🥲 I’m a total noob but really enjoying it, I’m addicted.

Does anyone have any tips for a new farmer?

Don't try an keep up with these "speed run" yt videos, I made the mistake of trying to get everything done asap when I first started playing it because every yt video I watched was like "by day 1 I done this, by day 5 I done that" an it kindi ruined it for me

Just take your time an relax with it, don't rush into the mines, an remember your crops are one season so watch how long they take to grow an make sure you have enough time to plant if your near the end of the month, it can feel a bit overwhelming at first but once you start to just relax with it then it's much better, there's no time frame, if it takes 3 years to do the greenhouse then it takes 3 years

I definitely agree with @Snippysnips!

I used to panic and look up guides and make mad notes to ensure everything was done asap but after a few different saves, I’ve realised I like taking the relaxing approach and just doing things at a calm pace and if I miss something or don’t catch a fish in that season it’s whatever! The game years are endless so don’t stress 😁

I also just play at my own pace.

My tip would be to buy the strawberry seeds at the spring Fayre and plant them that night. I till and water the land before I go so they just need planted.

Thanks guys ☺ I did the strawberries! And sadly yep have already lost a load of cauliflowers due to me not knowing how long the seasons were haha

What are some of the best ways to make money? I have cows and chickens for daily eggs and milk currently

Cheeeeeese. I think cheese is my favourite thing in the game. Great for a mining snack, decent money and if you have a few lovely moos easy to stock 😊
I haven't played for a while but I have hundreds of hours in this game. Across my PS4 and my daughter's Switch. It's so chill, I love a good hibernate with Stardew 🧡

Cheese is great, also eggs are a loved gift for Alex, but pigs is the money, once you start getting the truffles you will get good money but you will probably be into your second year by then

Yeah, I need to craft the cheese machine! I think I’m missing some of the items so I’ll try and get on that asap. And get some pigs 😁 thanks guys

Have you made kegs and jars? Wine & preserves from those can make quite good money. Also if you get a fish pond some of the roe from there is quite good too once you preserve in jars.

Seriously considering picking up Stardew again now thanks to this thread. Although I'm debating buying it for the Switch. I know, no mods, but Stardew gives me cosy curled up on the sofa vibes and I can't game like that on my PC :ROFLMAO:

I was just about to post something similar! I want to start a new farm but the beginning feels so slow!

I have it on both switch and PC, I had it on PC first because I had a laptop and liked playing in bed but a switch is sooo much more convenient for that!

Happy 10 years of stardew!
Has everyone seen the new marriage candidates? Sandy and Clint 🥳
To be honest, I’m interested in neither because I rarely go to the desert and Clint is just Clint 😅
Hopefully he gets a redemption arc and isn’t as much as a weirdo

In fall of my second year of my Four Corners farm. Originally started out with a co op farm with friends, but then there was a glitch where the game kept running in the background, we came back to find that a year had passed, our farm was completely overgrown and all our animals hated us (understandably as they’d not been fed for a year) 😅😂 Along with festival glitches where we couldn’t start/ end them, we just went solo in the end! Which was a shame as it’s a cute game to play co-op, but it’s been good doing it the second time round having used the Co-op as a practice run! I’m currently collecting walnuts on Ginger Island, some of which I’ve found on my own, but many through watching YT videos! I don’t know how anyone could find them all on their own!

How dose everyone have the attention spam to play years 😂 I made it 3 months and got really bored of the same routine

I got to year 5 on a save once as I did 100%! I had lost my dad in 2021 and I needed something that I already new so didn't require too much brain power ☺and wanted to have a goal to get 100% on my switch which I did!
It's a very special game for me. 💚
