What’s baffling to me is that you’re acting as though the far left has much hold on anything in the UK. They’re borderline missing here and aren’t entertained nearly as much

The far right are often encouraged and entertained by politicians with their statements or use of dog whistles or hints at their hints at conspiracy theories like the Great Replacement. We haven’t seen it as much this time but that’s mostly because Labour aren’t playing into causing the same divisions that the Tories did
I'm on about online misinformation and manipulation as well. People rightly call out disinformation from the right but it needs to be the same for people drumming up hate from the other side.

Maybe some people don’t trust the police to report this type of thing to. There seem to be a few alleged ex coppers posting under the #FarRightThugsUnite hashtag on twitter at the moment

Just because the police haven't had a report it doesn't mean it didn't happen.
If someone has been attacked by acid then they’d need medical attention. The NHS are duty bound to report any serious incidents or hate crime to the police. As nothing has been reported to the police either someone has been attacked with acid and hasn’t got medical attention or it didn’t happen, the latter being a good thing.

I would like to know examples of far left misinformation that has become popular and widely believed or caused similar issues on a similar level to the far right misinformation that is spread

Okay, I do not have the time and energy to do all that for you. Look at Twitter/x. I'm sure you will soon find unverified videos from different events claiming to be from this one and stories that have not been confirmed as true but because it's a good story and fits the narrative that's trending at the moment people will just engage with it, like it, share it.

It's treating word of mouth as fact. It's just as stupid when it's people claiming that the family were responsible for the genocide in Rwanda.

If a woman has had a substance thrown over her, that's absolutely barbaric. Even if it's not acid it doesn't take away from the fear for the women and I hope she does know that it is still assault and that she does report it.

Again, this is a male violence issue.

Adding this to show I don't like misinformation full stop, no matter who is perpetrating it.

I’m sure you’ll get the standard “do you own research” because they have nothing.

Why are we talking about the far left now? Who is the 'far left' in this scenario? I feel as though I've missed something.

I did try to find things and I couldn’t

If you’re discussing the post someone posted above then it seems to have been addressed by the police within a few hours.

Funnily enough the main accounts sharing it don’t seem to be “far left”

Though would raise the point that you don’t have to be far left or far right to be creating misinformation or fake news too

People spreading misinformation online under the guise of being left wing and actually caring when they are just trying to keep the hate train rolling.

To me they are not "left" wing people at all but opportunists seeing the violence that is happening and using it to their advantage.

That's why I tried to put it in "" because I don't really know what to call them but I know what they are pretending to be.

It’s hard to know what’s true and what’s not with everything that’s going on. Of course misinformation is going to be spread but it’s hard not to automatically believe that vicious attacks are happening on people all across the country when we’re all witnessing these riots first hand. In other news, I can’t believe these poor girls who have been killed and the girls who have been injured have been put on a complete back burner, they’ve hardly been mentioned atall since it happened 😢

That is true, I was putting it in "" because I don't know how else to refer to it but I know who their target audience is I suppose so labelled it left when I probably shouldn't have.

It's the disinformation I have the problem with, just because you come across something online which reinforces your particular viewpoint doesn't mean it's true. Even if you want it to be!

I had a quick look on twitter and I see the Hope Not Hate guy shared the thing about the acid attacks, is that who you mean? I think it's unfortunately all too believable, especially in the chaos of the moment, I don't think people are sharing it for nefarious reasons. Of course it will be jumped on by right wing accounts who themselves have been *knowingly* and *deliberately* spreading misinfo for the past week.

Yes, this is the truth here!! Those little girls and the women injured protecting them have been forgotten. 3 girls murdered but still 8 other children and 2 adults injured.

I think some are even still in a critical condition but with all the violence since then I haven't been able to get an update!

But it’s only a library, so I suppose it doesn’t really matter 🙃🙃🙃

😡😡😡
This has broke me today, the amount of people this will have affected. It’s not just a library it’s where people go to do training, a place where mums who are navigating life with a child with additional needs come together and support eachother, a place where people can go when they need help with food and gas and electric vouchers, a one stop shop to help people in need. Dirty rum 😡
