i actually saw a tweet where Tice was blaming the left elite for pretty much everything. Yeah Richard, your voters have so much more in common with a couple of public school educated multi millionaires, you must really appreciate how the struggle is real.

These rioters need to realise they have much more in common with the people they are railing against than they do with the Reform grifters.

I think there’s a bit of a fear to use certain language by some politicians/ministers/whoever to describe these people as they are because they completely lose their minds the moment you say it. Pushes them more into the far right groups and ideologies

The problem is that by avoiding calling all of this what it is we’re just entertaining it a little bit too much

I’m also going to go ahead and say that I doubt many average concerned local people would go to these protests or stay once they get violent you can address the riots and still recognise that there’s a discourse to be had with people who aren’t down that far right ideology hole yet

I just read that when the Fire service turned up at Spellow Library last night, the mindless thugs started attacking them and broke a window on the fire engine

Exactly. There seem to be loads of middle class appearing people losing their tit over this thinking Keir Starmer has called them racist when, if they weren’t actually throwing bricks at a mosque in Southport, he did nothing of the sort (as far as I can recall)

Yeah, I believe he referred in his speech to the far right wing involved as the small or tiny minority.

Sickening! I read that the library is near houses. So they were potentially allowing fires to spread to people's homes.

Yeah County road is also a residential area aswell as having shops- some people live above the shops too.

Do they not realise the bill for this clean up, policing, hospital care etc is going to come out of the public purse? Everyone will have to suffer.

This makes me ashamed to be from NI. The anti racism rally massively outnumbered the other lot yesterday and members of the public successfully protected the mosque so I’m trying to focus on that.

I doubt those people burning buildings etc last night were middle class. Wonder how many of them will be getting a visit from benefit fraud this week?!

Keir did say he would go hard on people he labelled as right wing. He may have meant the actual right wing but maybe some of those people initially protesting weren't right wing.

All this has done is derail from the fact that 3 little girls were murdered and others seriously hurt by a crazed individual that was carrying a weapon obviously intent on doing harm whether he meant for them to be his target.

Who knows what is fueling these idiots into destroying communities, maybe it is Russia/Iran, the far right, being pissed off by ineffective governments, maybe they feel ignored and fed up etc. I do feel there is something big coming, it feels unsettling at the moment and has done for a while.

My two cents: Russia is not the main reason why we have far right rioters attacking mosques, burning shops of poc or attacking them physically. But Russia does give money to far right european parties and use bots to help misinfo and hateful rhetoric to be spread on the internet. Russia has been interfering in our politics way too long. Russia wants chaos in Europe because it would help greatly its geopolitical goals. We should be aware of this and be suspicious of what we read online.

This doesn't exonerate ourselves from the current state of affairs. Social tensions and economical decline are the results of policies edicted by our own governments.

So there’s supposedly a “peaceful protest” being held in Middlesbrough today for the girls who were killed, but when you look at the person who has organised its profile- they’ve been sharing a lot of racist rhetoric he’s a big fan of Tommy Robinson and shares a lot of the posts of places getting smashed up, cars being set of fire etc and that “white men need to take back our country”
