God forgive anyone commits the crime of thinking the wrong things.
I’m assuming you think it’s correct that we have a police section dedicated to counter terrorism and extremism though? Because effectively that’s targeted those people that do think the wrong things and go on to commit violence out of it…ya know, like those people that genuinely thought it was ok to try set fire to hotel with people inside. That makes whatever “point” they’re trying to make, mute.
Would you support a way, if possible, to intercept these people even earlier? At the point they’re being radicalised? Or the person spreading misinformation that causes this indoctrination? Because I would…a lot of crime, especially that against women and children stems from an underlaying misogynists opinion.
The fact that a lot of these rioters/protesters present at these incidents had previous with police and some for domestic violence…so no, I won’t believe that they genuinely were there because they cared about those children or “our women and children” as they shouted at that hotel when half of them commit violence against women themselves. It’s more likely that racism drove those behaviours.
Of course you can think the level of immigration is unmanageable and things need to change. That doesn’t mean you’re “far right”.
Just like pointing out what that the current asylum system covers isn’t being “far left”. It’s explaining to people that a lot of this is already in place so what else can we do?
Some people have offered some really good suggestions from both ends of the argument on here, but the arguing and sniping isn’t enjoyable
