Let people wave whatever flag they like, but I think a huge part of why we're seeing Palestine flags is because the instigators of these riots (Tommy Robinson, Nigel Farage and co) have criticised the pro-Palestinian protests for months for being extreme, violent and hate-filled. But actual racist riots are just people voicing legitimate concerns 🙃

We’ve had counter protesters in Scotland and we haven’t had protesters.
Amassing outside a refugee hotel. Is that a good idea?

I’m more surprised that there is a Mosque in Ards than I am about deterrents not working here!
Why? There’s Mosques all over!

It’s not a good idea so why are the police not putting cordons round the hotels?

The amount of ex police officers giving interviews to certain strands of the media saying that two tear policing is very prevalent and they have experienced it as really opened my eyes one explains it as this in terms of time demographeric the black community is treated the worst by the police they always go in a abruptly the white community is treated a little better but not much better but the Muslim community are very much left to police themselves with little involvement from the police and they are told to treat each side of these communities in a different way

Councillor guy seems like a SWP supporting Trot who should not have been in the Labour Party, let alone a councillor. I think local Labour parties remain full of these types sadly
Yep plenty of communist flags some of the rallies. That's the SWP idiots supporting communism which is responsible for many deaths and still is all over the world.

Excellent point.

I was quite far left in my youth and the number of men and women who were in the Labour Party who were just out and out bigots, homophobes and chauvinists was unbelievable and I have been very hearthed to see that change over the years. (not saying there aren’t some still there but it’s definitely different to when I was young.)

I also couldn't get over the people in the initial riots who had Nazi tattoos and some were also wearing poppy pins, help for heroes t shirts, I mean, really?

Ricky Jones was encouraging a crowd to murder people …clear as day and all captured on video! It’s incitement. Also the woman in yellow clapping and laughing is representing Amnesty U.K. ! She and the crowd all laughing and clapping in agreement as Jones advocates slitting the throats of those whose politics he disagrees with 😟. Also as an aside what has Palestine got to do with this all the chanting and flag waving in this crowd …
There are a few reasons why I believe the Palestine flag has made an appearance in some of the anti-racist protests.

1) the killing/treatment of Palestinians appears to route from the views/opinions that they’re not people/humans worthy of living/living unpressed. Therefore, since a lot of these far right people view Muslims as the “enemy” the two kind of go hand in hand. I think if the far right has only targeted black people (and not Muslims) you might not be seeing the Palestine flag in some of these counter protests - but that last part is just my opinion

2) the Palestine protests have been happening for months (largely peacefully) with all walks of people coming together to march. A lot of these counter protests are being filmed by the media so this is just another way to get some exposure to the cause as such.
Likewise I imagine that is why some others decided to bring out the Israeli flag - they will want to draw expose to the poor hostages

I’m not getting into the ins/outs but I just wanted to explain the reasonings behind why you may see them in the protests

edited just to add - the fact anyone is standing on the racist side of the protests and raising an Israeli flag is baffling to me: the far right will likely turn on/be abusive to those that are Jewish too. A lot were doing the nazi salute and have nazi tattoos

That’s a very reasoned post but in Belfast it is probably a bit more simplistic. If themmuns like one thing then ussuns will like the other and vice versa. These new policing measures are interesting to me being in NI because disorder happens more here for various reasons so I’m waiting to see how it all plays out,

Well, we are very aware of attitudes to women in some areas of the force. I will always support the police and of course they are in a minority and give the rest a bad name.

Stephen double barrelled last name man of the people and his “just done a workout guys” when he posts, promotes this white man should be king in his own home, protect his woman rit.

Know what little Tommee Tippee cup, I’m six foot tall nigh on and I certainly wouldn’t need assistance from a midget wet wipe with a Napoleon complex like you if stuff went bits up. I’m with my husband because I love him, not because I need his protection.

Yeah sorry I wasn’t specifically referring to NI I was just more on about why people are seeing the flags within the counter protests etc

Both flags are sectarian in NI waving a Palestinian flag signifies the Catholic/ Nationalist /Republican community , Israel the Protestant/Unionist / Loyalist community these demos are opening up old wounds it’s not only race relations under pressure that’s what’s concerning lots of people.

I think there are widely acknowledged cultural issues within the UK police. With misogyny and also institutional racism. Note the met police were felt to be unable to comprehend the concept of institutional racism so kicked up a fuss about it. I know some dont like being asked to treat some minority communities with respect esp, when they’re arresting them or feel at risk themselves. I’ve heard of some avoiding communities for this reason

Yes, I agree. I do think the police and system in this country needs to be looked at. I’ve witness firsthand how they deal with black youth or men and it always Very abruptly and over zealously white men/youth are not that different within the way the police deal with them. I haven’t really got a clue what they’re like with the Muslim community but from what I’ve heard they get treated the best also some areas are a no zone for the police, so that doesn’t help either.

This is the thing as well, those on the far right like Farage are known anti semites. Led By Donkeys covered his school days and what he was like, no one would be walking down the street singing Hitler Youth songs if they weren’t anti-semitic. He also held a hatred of Jewish pupils at the school, it’s quite frightening how he’s managed to pretend this part of his history doesn’t exist
