She is a piece of tit. And what she wrote was bleeping disgusting and shameful.
But I'm torn in that I don't think prison is the right place for writing one hateful tweet. Yes if there is a history. But prison? I'm not sure.

She hasn't been sentenced. It may not be prison. But she tweeted to burn the hotels and a few days later people had set hotels on fire.

I don't have a particularly strong opinion on whether she deserves prison or not and I'm not sure I'm convinced her tweet was directly linked to the arsons, but I hope people become mindful of what they say.

We've got to a really weird place where people say some of the most violent things online for anyone to see, but think it's not that serious because it's social media.

I think the thing is we all sometimes say things we regret in the heat of the moment. Did anyone actually go and burn hotels because of this woman or did they get caught up in the group they were on?

My personal view is the majority of these rioters are stupid kids and they need to be lifted off the street at the time, not a few days later.

There’s a lot who weren't stupid kids, rather adult men and women.
There was a large element of organisation by the more extreme groups. Outright neo-nazis in some cases. Although not everyone was in that catagory.
I did see some older men directing a group of young boys to do the physically violent acts. Using them as cannon fodder, which was shameful.

Might this have something to do with what has happened?

I keep seeing headlines about "riots this" and "riots that", but I'm yet to see anyone actually charged with riot - or get anywhere near the 10 year sentences people got in the Bradford riots.

On that point, I'm sure the police are grateful for the overtime (like they were in the Miner's strike) but if it is a riot, the Police Authority will be liable for the cost of the damage. If it is just a violent disorder - or as Jess Philips famously said, "a normal night in Birmingham" - insurers will pay out for the smashed windows, or a burned out Citizens Advice bureau in Sunderland (which is probably only there because the local economy is so weak that a viable locally owned business isn't possible) - or any compensation due to people being injured (providing they don't have a criminal record, as under the Victim Support scheme the criminal classes are not entitled to compensation for their injury).

We needn't go into the educational results in some of the areas (particularly in the North East) and particularly among white working class boys, that has been flagged up for years in report after report - all of which have been dismissed as 'racist' - but perhaps the left prefer the white working class in a Ken Loach film, or singing about Mrs Thatcher at a miners gala.

Oh and btw, since I'm on the subject of far right thugs and how everyone is loving them crying in the dock and pleading for their mum - I did notice that two Asian gentlemen appeared in the dock, charged with affray, in connection to what the local police described as a 'largely peaceful protest' in Leeds.

Those worried about two tier policing, will be pleased to know there were also two 'far right thugs' sentenced - one for writing something on the internet and the other for racially/religiously inflammatory gestures - though he may have been shouting these but I'm pretty sure it was gestures.

But don't worry because Church of England Racial Justice Group has issued new prayers to bring healing.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but there is a guy going around the flower memorial both in the town and hart street, literally on tiktok live for 12 hours.

Just seems really weird to me, he’s claiming he’s donating the gifts but I’m not too sure, just feels really wrong.

Would there be a way to look at what he’s been gifted so far?

English is not my first language; I interpret that as a confession made by Tommy Robinson that he instigated the riots, and also that it was his supporters who rioted.

I support green/eco principles, have done for years, but I’m extremely disappointed in the woman Green Party supporter who was clapping and cheering the ‘slit your throat’ comment.
I’ve been put off voting for them. Kind of narrows the choice really.
I wish they’d stick to actual Green issues.

I’m so glad you pointed this out because this was my first thought this morning reading back over this.
We’ve got people shouting “two-tier” policing all over the place but then make statement like this….

anyone that incited violence whether it was in person/online deserve to have consequences. I completely agree with the other poster that says we seem to live in a world now where people think they can post what they like on social media and get away with it because “it’s only social media”

Seems he can’t see the wrong in his actions, worryingly.
A judge sentencing someone said he’d reduced the sentence by a third as they’d pled guilty.
Think they got 20 months, the judge said they’d serve 50%, if they behaved themselves while inside, but would be on licence on release for the full duration of their sentence, so could be recalled if they didn’t behave on the outside too.

I’m also interested to see what sentence is given for the tweet.
I would also think that the fact the guy was a counsellor (?) that it will hopefully mean they’ll take that into account when he does get found guilty at trial (because he will because as you say, it’s on video) as in, they’ll come down harder because he would be seen as being in a potential position of influence/power spouting hatred.

As I said, I think everyone involved in these riots, even if it was rolling a bin towards the police or stealing a gingerbread man, needs to be punished and ought to be punished.

That said, I don't think all these folk didn't 'care' but that many had absolutely zero trust or hope in any of the options.

Normal decent kind people are desperate not to offend. You sound the perfect person that would be offended by absolutely anything. I hate what has happened with the knuckleheads rioting but I believe there is a problem with mass immigration and any body just rocks up to this country without checks. I feel

This is whats bizarre on the political spectrum I'm liberal moderate , that means equal rights for women and girls, social mobility programmes. Equality of race , Innovation science. , freedom of thought ,Collectivism, secularism working together for a better future but I must be a fascist because I don't think some beliefs are compatible with the country I want to live in. Then the SWP who infiltrates a lot of things wants the overthrow of the west they see it as imperialism and for some reason see the religious nutjobs as allies. SWP run the Stand up to Racism marches that's why some of the speakers aren't peaceful.
Same with Tommy Robinson I find him an odious man who is a criminal really and farage. You can absolutely not believe in the SWPs agenda and be a liberal moderate. Politics have gotten too extreme if it carries on I will leave the UK.
