I think it's more of this and not more police that are going to stop this. There doesn't seem to be an equivalent to these guys on the other side.

I agree all violence is disgusting. That was done in error so my apologies for that.

Sorry fair point. I was very clumsily trying to say that there didn't appear to be any leadership with the rioters or anyone who could calm them down. You're totally right - there have been loads of people out cleaning up and saying it doesn't represent their community.

Something really has to be done to prevent any more of this. Perhaps curfews in the places where there's threat of action? We can't keep going like this, it's only getting worse.

When Jess Phillips gave her acceptance speech on the rostrum at the general election, she was heckled and jeered by supporters of the ‘Independent’ candidate (much like the above). She was visibly upset and revealed how she’d been harassed and disrespected throughout the campaign. Her campaign workers were intimidated and threatened daily and tyres were slashed.
The losing ‘Independent’ candidate refused to shake her hand.
I know this because I sat up and watched the results. I was shocked by what I saw. Perhaps more so as it was directed at a female.
Perhaps Jess Phillips knows what some people are capable of. She doesn’t seem the type to scare easily but…
I should imagine the footage is still available.

I saw this and I agree. Jess seems pretty tough and not someone easily intimidated but she said it was the worst election she'd taken part in, in terms of bad behaviour of other candidates directed particularly towards women. I watched a lot of the coverage and didnt see anyone else being heckled nearly as badly as Jess was when she gave her speech. We're a democracy and that kind of behaviour is shocking.
