Lol! I forgot about Sicily @moronglace She mentioned Venetian dialect too! And I thought the same as you --they do understand standard Italian. It's not like people, esp working in tourism in either place, just speak dialect to people obviously not from there. Sure, she probably doesn't understand some conversations around her, but she probably doesn't understand Italian either.

Case in point...your mentioning trying on the dress. Lol

And she’s lived in Italy at this point for what, over a year? And living with an Italian significant other? Even Zoey Arielle, dreadful pronunciation and all, speaks more Italian (albeit she likes to speak Italian as a way to seem sophisticated and smart).

I think it's year 2 right about now. That's what kills me, just speak with Dario. He's the best "supplemental learning" she could have.

Exactly, I understand wanting to understand "dialect" (I say dialect like this because for me they are totally different languages, a few words here and therenwill not help) when you are really fluent etc but at the point you don't even know standard Italian...also her friend's amazing teaching account..do none of her fans realise she clearly is advertising 2 competing things?

Do either of you get the sense that Kacie's not really into Italy for Italy itself? Like instead she's into it for the way she can make content? For me learning the language (apart from my general love for learning foreign languages) came from my enthusiasm to understand Italy and its culture... which, going even deeper, was inspired by my relationship and my desire to better understand my partner and the world he comes from.
It's clear that Sofie has a strong emotional connection to Italy through her relationship.

By the way, I do find it odd that Emilio doesn't want to be on Sofie's social media... I remember one video where she was doing the "speaking Italian for 24 hours" challenge, and when she talks to Emilio at one point, you can hear him say in the background: "I don't wanna BE in your video!!" and she brushes it off by scolding him for not speaking Italian.

I wonder how much they fight about him coming on camera and why he doesn't want to be in the videos. I totally get not wanting to be seen on camera, but sometimes he won't even speak. I always thought maybe he is insecure about his voice.

I guess I never really thought about his being on camera. I've seen him a couple of times and just assumed he was camera shy. I can't remember the last time I heard him. Maybe making fun of Hailey Bieber's cooking in some IG story. Lol.

I agree Kacie doesn't seem into Italy at all. She doesn't seem to have any natural curiosity or desire to inform herself about anything. Then when she "discovers" something, she just does that annoying "woooooooowwwww" and, of course, uses it as content.

100% thia about kacie, if you want to live in a country really to live there you want to learn the language as a first point, regardless of how difficult it might be. She has a lot.of free time to do so and isn't really making the effort imo. When I first moved to Italy mine was awful but I always lived with italians and even though they spoke great English I always spoke Italian with them espexially becuae jt was me, one natice english speaker and the rest not, it seems like she doesn't make the effort , I personally would feel bad making everyone speak another language to make it easier for me

It seems like aside from her lacking fluency, people see her (she looks very foreign, I mean) and speak in English and she's either too lazy or unsure of herself to try Italian.

Also, it's a known rule simply "thanking" and tagging any business that gives a freebie or discount doesn't cut it. I highly doubt Sofie and KR paid for their rooms. I'm just shocked they were both gifted this tbh, Sophie seems ve constantly complaining about her lack of engagement (or is that just her youtube?) And I doubt either of their American followers would end up going to a Venetian carnival event? (Or maybe I guess this is a next plan for kacies group trips?)

That's what I was asking myself too. I can't imagine a foreign follower of either really going to Carnevale as a particular holiday. But maybe they are counting on all the study abroad students who love Kacie? They tend to have money to burn, to boot.

Another tragic shooting in America and she has to do the thing where people say “why can’t we just love each other”… but make it Audrey.

Love is great but this kind of message is just trying to put a bandaid over the real problem. Better to just not post anything, I would think. I know, damned if you do, damned if you don’t… but posting this kind of stuff just comes off a naïve.

That reminds me though! I remember when she got COVID (the first time) back in TX. She was SO SHOCKED "because I've hardly gone out." Girl was out one to 2 nights a week (based on her IG) at that "authentic" Italian place she found in Houston. Because...Texas. While many states were still in full Stay at Home ordinances and much of the world still in lockdown, I remember rolling my eyes so hard at that. "I have no idea how I got it, so embarrassing." Girl, please. Lol.
