When I found them all and their sky high plates of pasta and potatoes I was honestly like why have I been wasting my time spiralising courgettes and making broccoli rice when this lot are maintaining 3 stone losses on quorn nuggets and smiley faces 😂 soon realised it’s all a load of shit. Tonight I am doing grilled courgettes layered with some left over syn free arrabiata sauce I made on Saturday topped with mozzarella and having that with baked sea bass fillet 😊
You’re dinner sounds ace, I’ll be over for mine in an hour!😍😍😍😍😍

Seriously this is the food I like to see on instagram not a fucking freddo swimming in a bowl of porridge and chemicals skinny sauces

Glad you reposted this I remember it from the previous thread 😂

he defo reads tattle aswell because he was removing pictures when we mentioned it wasn’t he? Everytime he pops up on my explore I have a good laugh at him.

the picture isn’t even a good one- not one I would keep resharing anyway 😂
He made a account on here and commented on the post and then tried to mentioned someone else to move the thread along 🤣 I just wanted to re post as he is now calorie counting with re used pictures which he clearly isn't counting just adding a random calorie number 🙄 it’s all for the ££££

I could have written this! I didn't realise it at the time but finding all these accounts that had cheat days and big portions and tweeks stopped my weight loss. Finding tattle has made me realise that
Glad that people are realising this! Honestly, it annoys me so much that these 'influencers' make all these fake claims. They are a bad influence really! Stick to your own way with SW and you will be successful. It's easy for the Insta lot to give advice when they have got to their 10 stone target in other ways but need to keep up the pretence for all the freebies.

Counselling services would refer their clients with food related issues to Slimming world or Weight Watchers. Calorie counting has now had a lot of exposure through the NHS and is being promoted instead. I like slimming world as it was something nice for my daughter and I to do during the week together on her day off. We would join to lose a bit of weight each before an event. The community is very nice depending where you go and the majority of the consults seem very nice. I do think perceptions of Slimming World are being altered by these over-powering, fame obsessed characters you see on Instagram. I can’t say I have ever seen grand attention seekers like the ones you see on Instagram in real life groups.

I wasn't sure of the general attitude towards SW vs CC on this page so I've held off commenting.
Here goes; SW fucked me up. Big style. My mum joined SW, had previously been on WW but it wasn't working anymore. A colleague lost weight on SW so my mum decided she would too. My mum has always been on a diet. I have grown up around a woman who calls food 'good' and 'bad' and is absolutely obsessed with how much she weighs. My mum lost 3st initially which was great and I loved that it made her seem happy so I decided to join SW with her when I was 20/21 (I can't remember because, frankly, I don't want to)

I thought being 'skinny' would be the answer to all my problems. The consultant always went on about how 'happy' everyone will be once they are 'skinny' or their 'goal weight'. I lost 2.5st, eventually got down to 10st 8lb which should've made me happy. But I wasn't. I was terrified of putting ANY weight on. I was terrified to go out with friends, would turn down lovely, delicious food at my boyfriends house because I couldn't control how it was made or what the ingredients where. I specifically recall working all day Saturdays and not eating (I worked at Asda, very full on and exhausting) so that I could 'save myself' for going out and getting drunk that night. I was no longer in control, SW was. I weighed myself everyday, sometimes multiple times. Even the 'free' and 'speed' food made me feel this consuming guilt that I was eating 'too much'. There was an event in group in which people wrote 'inspirational' things (centred around losing weight) and stuck them to this big board. One woman wrote 'nothing tastes as good as skinny feels'. This quote is used widely in the pro-anorexia community and was famously said by Kate Moss during her battle with anorexia. That quote stayed on that board until I decided to leave SW over a year later. I went on holiday at this 'goal weight' and I expected to feel confident and gloriously happy, like my consultant promised I would.

However, I still hid away because I still felt 'too fat'. Anyway, life progressed and I started to see through the plan. Things that didn't make sense, for example the blended fruit not being free and the Muller Light saga where they magically gained syns over night. I still went to SW, paid money to stand on a scale because my mum did. How could I explain to my mum that SW was impacting my mental health in such a way? We aren't the sort of family that talk about serious things like that. I don't even think my mum or dad believe mental health issues are real. Lockdown came, the first one, and I STILL did the Zoom meetings, still transferred this woman who didn't really care about me £2.75 (reduced fee) to weigh on my own scale and sit on a video call with women I didn't like who, actually, really annoyed me. Then the opportunity came, the consultant was leaving. And I knew, that was my chance to leave too. So I did, I said to my mum (terrified, may I add) that I was leaving SW because it was affecting me negatively (she still doesn't know about the borderline ED part of it all) After leaving I spent time eating food as I wanted, when I wanted and actually enjoying myself for the first time in almost 3 years. I did put all the weight back on, but that's fine! I would rather weigh more and be happy because being 'skinny' made me miserable.

A few weeks ago I decided, mainly out of curiosity, to look at how many calories I ate a day. I never intended to start CC. I realised I wasn't eating nearly enough for my body. Most days I sat at around 1000 calories which, I'm sure I don't need to point out, is extremely unhealthy. Because I always thought that the less you ate, the more weight you would lose. I did this for a week and then the week after I decided to weigh myself and start CC but in a lighter way, I didn't want to fall back into the SW trap and the control that had over me. I don't track when I go out, don't track my drinks (I mainly drink diet anyway) and definitely don't count alcohol. I'm not as in to the losing weight side as I once was and eat what I want mostly, just in better moderation. in 2 weeks I have lost 2.5lbs. I think that's pretty sustainable. SW was not the dream I was sold it to me. One day I hope to convert my mum to CC. SW is not working for her anymore.

SW does work for some people, but I don't believe that it is sustainable for long time use. I believe it is like a drug you need to wean off of, it's a safety blanked to go under when you lose trust in yourself. The woman with the Kate Moss quote quit SW and now does CC. I fully expect backlash for this comment but I needed to share my experience somewhere
I totally agree with you Slimming World messed up my head as well. I lost almost 4 stones in 6 months. I wouldn’t go out for a meal unless I had a salad or soup. I would starve myself before weigh in etc. I was restricting way too much. It was ruling my life.

Oh god I remember when SW Instagram was at its peak, ASA wasn’t so hot then so they were all pushing their spice codes and wanging on about crucial sauce, a certain chocolate brand 🙄 and water bottles.

some were rather preachy, piled it all on and then disappeared.

Oh and who could forget taste the rainbow JSG

i know a lot of people hate SW now but it worked for me, had a little to lose in 2016, kept it off and would never take a hard boiled egg to a hen night 😂
I remember them and lol Slamdunkthechunk . I remember her , "nail technician" when in reality they were so awful. She would always have that guy sticking up for her 😆 🤣 she was probably shagging him

Taste rainbow Jen who got outed by the 10kcal jelly advert...priceless

Anyone remember Spanjee? Always wanted to dip her in ship dip lol. She always looked unclean

She’s one of the worst, absolutely takes the mick with her food. Her grid is all food a young kid would dream of eating. She’s now posting calories and syns like all these other SW knobs, she hardly looks any different in her “transformation” photos and to add insult to injury she uses the word “lush” excessively which makes me sick in my mouth.

I do like slimming world but my consultant is an arse. I have to keep reminding her to send me certificates out when I hit a milestone, I don't attend the weekly shit zoom meetings or anything so she probs can't be arsed with me. I'll switch to online when the groups start again as no way I'm going to the god awful groups. Who actually enjoys sitting through a slimming world group?! Is there any body really!!

slimmingchelsx (can’t remember her old sw name) does my swede in with her swipe ups. She’ll link a loungewear set that ‘everyone needs’ but not show you on the story, so you have no choice but to swipe up to see what she’s plugging. The ad-aff notice is always as hidden as possible, makes me want to vom at the desperation for extra coins.

I can honestly say, I've lost almost 10 stone following SW, I've not begged once, used not one fucking discount code of any description.

My fave memory so far? was it buying 2xl tops instead of 7xl tops? no...

was it buying 42 inch jeans instead of 60 inch? no...

it was asking beggy ben if he has parkinsons after he followed and unfollowed me about 15 times in 10 minutes 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This cracked me up 🤣🤣🤣 and is exactly why I come to this site. Some lockdown entertainment

I proper pissed off my SW consultant’s sidekick the other day, she put a post on the group Facebook saying what you can have instead of 400g loaf or cereal of all these fancy overpriced HexBs like the promise rolls and gluten free wraps that cost a bomb so I posted screenshots in the comments of Morrison’s 49p wholemeal muffins and Aldi 69p oat rolls 😂 there is absolutely no point spending £2.50+ on a special bread if you’re not gluten free. Plus I remember when they first became all the rage actual coeliacs couldn’t get any because of bloody Prickard and the like stockpiling them 🙄
😂 people must have money to burn paying that for a plastic tasting roll! Give me the 49p wholemeal muffin any day with a bit of lurpak spread on! It's so irritating, do these people think the scales will clock half a stone if they don't have gluten free? I just don't think these big accounts are a healthy way of encouraging people, if anything they encourage a relationship of being terrified of most foods and trigger eating disorders. Using the SW name to basically make money put of things like 10 cal jelly (which is not filling and probably full of sweetner).

It’s about being sensible and using common sense as well. We live in a society where food is plentyful. I just had a bubble tea (my absolute fave and the kind of thing that on slimming world would blow and entire day because I didn’t know the nutritional info) however I have enough common sense knowledge to know that it’s probably about 500 calories and I shouldn’t have it everyday - if I do treat myself to one then if I listen to my hunger cues I will naturally have a lighter lunch and dinner. The high street/ Deliveroo etc make it easy to indulge in nutritionally devoid, yet high calorie things which become a habit and end up at the point people are having several large meals a day and frappachinos, huge desserts, etc on top. This is just not healthy but it’s become weaved into our culture. I read an article once that said just by getting into the habit of ordering a latte and a muffin into your commute you would be adding about 600 calories a day - over time this adds up and will result in weight gain - yet it’s so easy to do because the marketing and temptation is all around us

The other thing I found is exactly what someone else said above... I would be craving something (because all my food was dictated by a plan rather than what my body was really craving.) Inevitably I would use all my syns on having a ‘treat’ often quite mundane and shit going by the plan - eat it reialise it hadn’t hit the spot and binge. If I hadn’t ‘banned’ certain foods then I may have had a donut, or a pitta and humous, or some chocolate, but just had a bit and been satisfied and finished - instead the on plan off plan mentality makes it seem logical to have a period of plan (binge) which you make the most of with a constant arbitrary date that you will ‘get back on it’ before falling off again and repeating the same cycle again and again.

Even with a psychology degree and deep understanding of human behaviour it’s taken me a long time to challenge my own thinking and free myself from ‘the plan!’

I've just ordered it!

When no food is ‘off plan’ and you recognise that you have the freedom to eat what you want..... funnily enough it’s not all that attractive anymore to eat an excessive amount of junk food!

I have never used any of the spices mixes they all flog - I just think it’s really overpriced for what it is, spices are cheap as chips anyway especially if you buy the big bags of tumeric etc. I have a cupboard full of old jam/sauce jars labelled ‘cumin’ ‘garam masala’ ... 😂 not very Insta worthy but it’s the same stuff!

ETA my name is not anything to do with spices or mixes it’s a Futurama reference 😂

The whole FM / MLM world is crazy, and I’ve noticed that a lot of slimming world and weight loss accounts are now also flogging MLM crap exploiting their large following. For Emily it’s worked out and she seems to be doing well, but she’s had to dupe >700 people into joining her ‘team’ and the ethics of that don’t sit well with me because she’s essentially conning all these people. She’s already dipped down to part time on her proper job, has got the car and is constantly buying crap online. MLM’ing isn’t a sustainable long term career so if I was her I’d be saving the extra she’s making now or investing it into overpaying my mortgage, not wasting it on posey influencer crap as the income won’t be forever.
