Yes! There is a real trend of outdoing each other with the breakfasts! If your baked oats don't have a chocolate bunny and drowning in syrup or biscoff in does it even count 🤣 battenburg is ridiculous.

I have a bit of a SW v CC with myself atm.

mom nervous to “take that leap” with CC if that makes sense and really nervous to try something new.. anyone that can give me advice with this?
I don’t want to just go back to SW again as I don’t stick to it longer than a week and it causes me to binge massively which I’ve never had before starting SW..
2 weeks tomorrow for me since I jumped on calorie counting and I’m loving it.
Still mainly eating from scratch as I’m grateful to SW for that and I enjoy eating healthy but I feel excited over food again and not restricted.
Eating everything I love including houmous, nuts, peanuts, avocado, brioche buns - all this on SW I’d feel guilty or restricted or have had to use a HEB or syn it.
Honestly I’m gutted make the switch sooner

My friend has always been pro slimming world and anti calorie counting. I have been more calorie counting but I eat some SW meals. She is now doing flexi SW/calorie counting. Seems mind blowing to me how you can do both basically to pick and choose what suits you on the day!

There's a girl in my class who did that. Came in 2 weeks before she had her son, second week she claims she was in labour while she was at class and had him the next day. Next week in she comes having lost 1.5 stone or something ridiculous 🙄
The lengths some people will go to for the Slimmer of the Week basket! 🤣

The new 'cheesecake' Easter eggs are doing my head in. Again, nothing Slimming World or in fact cheesecake about them. I would have been told off as a child for filling up an Easter egg shell with a load more crap and I'm not about to start now :ROFLMAO:

When’s gemma.b going to tell the fans how much weight she’s put on then
And itsdaniellesjourney what actual size her denim jacket is 🤣

I remember going to group and I had lost a pound .. The consultant asked in front of everyone , what went wrong ? I said nothing I’ve spent years putting on so to loose a pound and be able to live my life . I call it a successful week !! . He soon shut up and moved on . Needless to say I didn’t go back .. sitting in a circle to confess your sins is not how any adult should be treated especially if u have low self esteem due to your weight to start with .

That is starving yourself to keep at such a low weight. Which can lead to loads of problems. Like periods stopping and stuff and not having enough calcium for bone density etc.
You would feed more food to a toddler.
My young kids get more than her it’s insane recently she’s proper dropped her food intake and exercises daily, someone commented on Instagram and her SW crew rushed to say she’s eating fine and we are basically fat shaming but other way around 🙄

Hello all.. I’m wanting to do CC but just don’t know where to start and unsure how to go about it.
Any advice?
Download the Nutracheck app, it’s not free but miles better than MFP and more user friendly. Then google TDEE calculator and follow the instructions. Calorie counting is hit and miss, start on higher calories and then adjust as necessary. Don’t compare your calories to anyone else’s, we are all different. A women who’s 5ft2 and weight 120lb will be on less cals than someone who is 5ft 8 and 200lbs. Before you start calorie counting for weight loss, I’d eat normally for a week but track everything. You will see how much you are eating and where you can make swaps. Good luck x

I can’t stand those really high contrast colour edits people do of SW food...🤮 and all those skinny syrups and sugary shit makes my teeth itch just thinking about it 😬
Urgh same. Was in Home Bargains the other day and saw a fluorescent green one called ‘Alien Slime’ was like what is meant to be appealing about that 😂

Did anyone follow Amanda and Claire? They were awful! Always making weird shit out of blended porridge oats like chocolate eclairs! They’ve disappeared now and I can’t find their account!
Their account is still on there but they haven’t posted since Dec 2019. Their portions were grotesque. I didn’t like their food at all but I know one of them had serious health problems and hope nothing terrible has happened ☹

Anyone on here follow gemmab_slimming?
Yes she absolutely infuriates me. Every single day chocolate piled high for breakfast and then a giant chocolate filled dessert?!
She’s always so smug and clearly is not in the real world. She does a couple of hours of uni, lives with her parents, goes on a giant walk and does a long workout every single day and then preaches to everyone that it’s a sustainable lifestyle change? Yeah ok love, can’t wait to see how sustainable you find it once you get a 9-5 desk job and have bills to pay!

The problem with SW is that it has been bastardised by social media.

6+ years ago, you’d bang your veg on the plate, follow the plan properly, have a nice loss, then listen to Fat Susan talk about her all inclusive cruise in class. The meals weren’t pretty, but they were honest and got you where you wanted to be. No fuss, no wannabes, no Beggy Mitchells.

These days, it’s all about tweaks and likes. Tower burgers that are about 7 layers high, porridge with ridiculous cake decorations on, and dickheads with a different comparison picture every day, tagging the shit out of SW in the vain hope that they’re not enough of a munter to appear in the magazine.

Give me Fat Susan any day...
It was Fat Joan in my group 🤣🤣

Tbf there was a lot of 'tweaking' going on before....the obsession with using Smash for anything or cous cous plus all the cake making with gallons of sweetener and egg whites. Oh and making crisps out of lasagne sheets were a big fad too I remember 🤢 Thankfully SW have clamped down on most of these now but some folk still take the piss. The Insta lot is a whole new level of tweak!

Glad that people are realising this! Honestly, it annoys me so much that these 'influencers' make all these fake claims. They are a bad influence really! Stick to your own way with SW and you will be successful. It's easy for the Insta lot to give advice when they have got to their 10 stone target in other ways but need to keep up the pretence for all the freebies.
When I found them all and their sky high plates of pasta and potatoes I was honestly like why have I been wasting my time spiralising courgettes and making broccoli rice when this lot are maintaining 3 stone losses on quorn nuggets and smiley faces 😂 soon realised it’s all a load of shit. Tonight I am doing grilled courgettes layered with some left over syn free arrabiata sauce I made on Saturday topped with mozzarella and having that with baked sea bass fillet 😊

Is it a thing to write what's in your photo in capital letters before saying what it is? Like MALTEASER BAKED OATS or ROAST BEEF DINNER?

Are they shouting what the meal is?!

The instagram page for snaresylad_sw really grinds my gears. I have never seen one person spout so much tosh in my life.

yesterday he had a "flexi syn day" because he went over his daily allowance but he said it was ok because he was within his calories.

WHAT???
Whit?! Either you're following SW or you're doing CC. Mixing and matching so you can eat whatever you want doesn't work. Reading through his replies to questions people have asked shows he doesn't have a clue. Says he's following SW but then if he wants to be "flexible" I.e. eat shite presumably he'll do CC. Maybe he'll blame Boris again for putting on weight 😏

I use Nutracheck. You do pay for the app but I find it much more user friendly than MFP. You get 1 weeks trial but if you like it after a few days they usually offer it cheaper. I waited til the week was up and it was slightly more expensive for the yearly cost.

Use a TDEE calc dont just go on the 1200 /1400 calories that your tracker tells you.

Also with Nutracheck you can choose to allocate your calories differently for each day and it does it for you rather than manually. So if you know for example youl likely need more calories on a fri & sat then you can do that. Your calories can be spread throughout the week. You dont need to have the exact same amount every day.

Weigh your food and input it, its really as simple as that. It does seem tedious at first but most humans tend to eat v similar things so once youve tracked it once it becomes quicker to do it. I also track everything that I can. Even days where I know Ill be in a calorie surplus as when you look at the whole week its often for the week not a surplus.

The psychology behind weight / fat loss is the biggest thing imo. Learning that to actually gain 1lb or lose 1lb you need to have had a calorie surplus or deficit of 3500 cals. So yes standing on the scales daily (if you know you do that) your weight is gonna fluctuate up and down and just cause its went up or down doesnt automatically mean its fat gain or loss.

Learning to trust that actually being in a calorie deficit consistently will give results, you just have to stick with it. Will it give results every week, it might not especially if youre a woman. Tracking your weight and your menstrual cycle can be helpful as youl start to see patterns.

When you have been attending SW/WW for years and in that diet culture cycle you do expect to see a steady loss week on week but true fat loss isnt like that and the hardest part for me was getting my head around that and understanding I wasnt doing anything wrong.

It will take you time to find your feet if youve been used to SW or WW. Initially you may struggle with calories and be way under or way over your calorie target and thats ok. It took me a while to find my feet and find how many cals would suit me for each meal. When youre used to feeling like youre not allowed certain types of food you avoid them but with time you realise that you can have them.

Its taken me such a long time to get over the quirks shall we say of how I ate on SW. Its taken me just over 2 months to lose 1 stone but I can hand on heart say Im not disappointed with that. Ive enjoyed every meal Ive eaten, Ive not missed out. Ive had meals out with my kids since restaurants reopened. Weve had Mc Donalds, Ive made proper pancakes not made out of eggs and oats or eggs and bananas. I feel like this is my life now and I know that some days if I do go over my calories its fine. Ive not ruined anything. I dont need to start again tomorrow or the next week. I just carry on as normal.

I feel like Ive rambled on but feel free to DM at any time. ❤

I follow some lovely genuine SW accounts who share really great recipes and are not making any money from it (definitely not as they're not using anything branded most of the time). I know calorie counting is the new thing, and I used to count calories myself and successfully lost weight but I find it takes over your life even more so than SW - we were not put on this earth to count calories in broccoli. Plus half the time it's just easier to eat processed stuff cos it's easier to input the calories. Even though I follow SW I do look at calorie content still just as a guide cos some stuff is bat shit like a whole tub of Onken yoghurt with over 200 cals having 1 syn but an 80 cal dessert will be 4 syns.

Did anyone used to follow target_and_beyond? I found her when I first started SW back in 2018 and I did like her to start off with but then started to find her very smug and a bit annoying, she was in the magazine around that time I think. Anyway her Insta is still on there but she's gone AWOL and hasn't posted since the very beginning of 2020 - wonder if she's put the weight back on.
