I’ve always found it a bit odd with slimming world how every one starting always has a massive loss in the first week! It’s defo rigged to make people think it’s work 🤣

My first ever week I lost 2.5lb which I thought was really good and my consultant said ‘try not to be too disappointed’ 😂 I think sometimes people have massive losses because they’re retaining loads of water the first week, it can’t all be large loss.

Exactly that, the bigger you are the more you lose and quicker and it is initially a higher water loss. So quite obese people can lose up to 7lb in 1 week but it might only be actually 1lb large and 6lbs water

As a reformed SWer who saw the light & decided to just eat healthy, calorie count & exercise like a normal person! I can recommend having a look at an IG page Soul & Courage (hope it’s ok to mention that) One of the girls is a former SW member who left heavier than when they joined. They are very anti diet club, but in an informative & educational way. They do a lot of comparisons like a syn free meal Vs a synned meal & show the calories in both. The logic in slimming world baffles me & no wonder it messes up so many peoples relationship with / perception of food (mine included!).

Yes thank you I feel I could follow at home but I definitely need to find some real help with my relationship with food, food addiction and general binge/emotional reliance of food. That has ruined me in recent years and I cannot let it happen again. I may speak to someone about it.
Not sure if it’s well known but there is such thing as OA a 12step programme for food addictions and issues a bit like AA and that would be free for you to access may be worth a look.

Egg???
I know the idea is to thicken but at what point do you think ribena and a bleeping raw egg is better for you than some crusha (which is super low syn anyway if i remember right)

This is usually the case with any diet though tbh. Whether it's calorie counting or what. My first week calorie counting and I lost 7lbs.
The rest of the time 1-2lbs, sometimes maintain.
My first week at SW and I lost 5 and the rest of the time 1lb or so.

The comment about milk makes me sad. It's bleeping milk, not lard.
Yeah I think lines like that are a really clear lens on the fact Slimming world is restrictive when it pretends to be this amazing way of eating. It’s not.

did anyones leader ever read them the poem Mrs IVY BeenGood? Annoys me so much just thinking of it. Such patronising bull.

Thanks for posting this. I’ll keep reading this thread because it’s helping me to resist being drawn in again! That whole post is waving red flags all over the the place; I wonder how many people who’ve signed up have ended up with eating disorders or disordered eating? Not to mention brittle bones!!

I used to syn cheese. As when I started it was only 40g of reduced large cheddar. I knew fine well that was never enough calcium to eat. Eat loads of cottage cheese to get more calcium.
Slimming World is way to restrictive. It’s not good for your bones. But you can eat as much white carbs (pasta, potatoes, noodles as you like). Why do they say that. Because to start with it works then the further you get down in weight the harder it is to loose. They don’t teach portion control.
I left in lockdown and never returned again.
Being asked if you were disappointed in a 1lb loss. I had to bite my lip and not yes now it’s a bloody loss ffs why the hell would I be disappointed in a loss.
That really pissed me off. Especially when I had had 3lbs the week before. Your body can’t churn out big losses. 1lbs it’s good.
The amount I have saved is a fortune.
Between the magazine, slimmer of the week basket, and paying to be weighed.
I use nutracheck it’s brilliant.

Slimmer of the week basket 😂 someone throws some mushy pears and apples in there and a tin of Tesco value beans. What an incentive!

I always put a melon or a pineapple.
Then I became wise and if I had won slimmer of the week all the crap tins you got I put them back into it. Lol

An extra 5g of oats can be the difference between a 5lb gain and a 2lb loss.
Remember, its not the 40 mullerlights, 17 mugshots, sack of spuds, bag of pasta, mushy pea gravy, 8 SW iceland quarter pounders and the whole KFC bargain bucket you flexi - synned you had this week that are the difference between a loss and a gain huns!
It's not measuring your healthy extras correctly and them berries you microwaved for 30secs that you failed to syn.
You're not the slimming expert, she is....
