Single by Choice

Someone close to me had a relationship end recently. He is very upset because he thought things were going well and really liked her. The reason for the breakdown in the relationship? She has orthorexia and her commitment to it was being adversely affected by their dates,eg a meal out, cinema treats, a cocktail, or a coffee with cake, meant macros/calorie aims were being compromised. So she chose the orthorexia over a boyfriend. Its very sad actually. Sad too for my friend who is now very disillusioned with the dating scene, but singledom for him will be very lonely due to his having a very small friend group 🙁

while i’m sorry for your friend, i’m not sure that this post is for this thread given that it’s about being happily single by choice! i feel for him in terms of being disillusioned by the state of dating right now, but i wouldn’t recommend that he views it as her choosing a condition over him. she obviously has a lot of stuff to work through on her own. singledom can be lonely, but try to encourage him to break out of that mindset when he’s ready.

i think it’s being obsessed with eating “healthily” and calorie counting, but i could be wrong!

Hi singletons! I'm off to a gig on my own this evening (which starts at 10.30pm!! madness lol!). Going to grab a couple of bevs and drink them whilst getting ready before heading on down. Saturday will be spent sleeping in and then maybe a nice walk while it's still dry here.

How are you all spending your weekends? 😊

I’ve sometimes thought about going out on my own.

I’m going a nice walk early tomorrow morning then some Xmas shopping at bluewater and cook a nice meal sat night and watch strictly with a few glasses of vino 🍷🍷 Sunday swimming then chores around house/garden. That’s the plan anyway. I do usually see family and friends at the w/e but not this one but have a few really busy ones coming up next month so I will enjoy the peace while I can!

Currently on my second holiday on my own. First one was an easy weeks' beach holiday This one is a bit further afield with some travelling involved...

Haven't been on holiday for a couple of years, and last time I had an ear infection and the weather was crap, so it wasn't exactly brilliant 🤣

Did meet some ... interesting characters in a local pub in Penzance though.

Just come back from the longest trip I've ever been on - I did about half of it completely alone, the other half on a small group tour which was a great balance that I'd recommend to any other female travellers. It involved quite a lot of travel in completely new places all on my own so I'm proud of myself!

Where did you go? I just had a solo staycation (Highlands), which was generally nice but the terrible weather and obligation to sight-see all the landmarks means I feel shattered rather than refreshed by it. I want to go somewhere warm, accessible and peaceful.
