Salt of the Earth 100% natural Deodorant spray - received this in my subscription box. I don’t usually like “natural” deodorants because I don’t find them as effective but this was surprisingly good. The only reason I won’t repurchase is because it takes ages to dry and I just don’t have the time in the morning to walk around for 10 mins with my arms in the air! 😆

Liberty Maze perfume sample - received in my Beauty Drop box. Nice enough but it didn’t wow me enough to purchase the full size.

Lisa Eldridge Seamless Skin Foundation samples “Light Set 1” - I love Lisa and I was really hoping this would be “the one”. It was fine but again didn’t wow me. I have “Light Set 2“ to try so perhaps a different shade might look better on me. I do love her Seamless Skin Tint though.

I have also been having a clear out of my beauty products and have sold 3 items on eBay. Yay!
So, although not technically empties, they’ve left the building. 😁 (We won’t mention the 3 items that I’ve ordered in the Black Friday sales…) 😳

omg, I thought I was the only one! I bought this stuff ages ago an actually liked it, it worked to the extent that I expect a natural deodorant to work, but I simply couldn't stand the drying time. I think I gave up after the third bottle and never bought anything else from the brand.

1. Byoma brightening serum - was okay, didn't like it as much of their hydrating serum. Was a mini from a set, probably wouldn't repurchase.
2. Brazilian bum bum cream. Didn't love this as much as its hyped about online, the smell was OK. Did make my skin feel really soft though and absorbed well.
3. Body shop almond milk and honey body scrub. I love these body scrubs for the shower, make your skin feel lovely.

The last quarter of 2024 is (almost) upon us and I will do my yearly ritual now of aiming to use up several products:

  • Maria Nila Structure Repair Hair Mask (great but needs to be used up, has been open for ages)
  • Missha BB Cream Bright Beige (similar, I think I've had this since 2019 :censored:)
  • Maybelline Fit Me Powder in 115
  • Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in 03
  • Inkey List glycolic acid toner
  • Inkey List polyglutamic acid serum
  • Jean & Len Leave In Spray
Emptied the Jean & Len Leave In Spray this morning. Will not repurchase, it made my hair fluffy. Still in search of a leave in I like, as I'm not always in the mood of the eternal rinsing process of conditioner.

November empties!

Garnier vitamin c micellar water - felt like I’d never finish this! Fragrance was too strong. It stung my eyes if I tried to use it to remove makeup. I’ll go back to Bioderma.

Airyday Golden Glow spf 50+ Dreamscreen - really beautiful sunscreen, excellent under make up or looks super pretty on its own. No cast, no sunscreen smell. I’ve got another tube somewhere that I can’t find 😭. Haven’t reordered, (yet) because I wanted to try some of the new Naked Sundays offerings in their sale instead.

LRP Cicaplast baume travel sample - I’ve tried this before and didn’t get it, but now that I know that a cica balm isn’t a moisturiser and I used it properly, I really liked it 😂. Reduced redness and helped with sore, dry patches around my nose from having a cold.

Maybelline 24 hour skin tint - binned half the bottle. It looked nice when I first put it on, but always oxidised and went super orange over the course of the day. It would settle and get cakey especially around my hair line. Binned it to save myself from trying again. It had such good reviews, but I can’t make it work so it’s time to let it go!

Skin Physics 15% Vitamin C + Ferulic - binned. I know it sounds crazy, but it gave me night sweats?! I took me a while to figure out and I took it in and out of my routine a few times to test 🤷🏻‍♀️

Also used up a bunch of other little travel sized bits and samples

Just 2 empties for me.

Lisa Eldridge Seamless Skin Foundation Sample card Light Set 2 - I’m still not sure which shade is my match because I could wear all of them! At the moment I wouldn’t purchase a full size because I’ve other foundations to use up and I prefer her Skin Tint to her foundation.

YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils The Curler - it was okay. I didn’t think it curled my lashes more than any other mascara. I wouldn’t repurchase because I’ve several mascaras from beauty boxes to use up first.

Empties from the last week or so..

Ren - Ready steady glow glycolic toner, I really like it and I have 3 more as it featured in a few beauty boxes, The Lacura from Aldi one which is a Pixi
dupe is pretty good too.
Beauty pie Supercheek cream blush, lovely and lasted a very long time, I won't repurchase as I am no longer a member of Beauty pie
NARS - soft matt complete concealer, very good stuff with really decent coverage , lasted a long time, would buy again but I am using a Benefit one at the moment

2 more empties:

Aurelia Probiotic Concentrate. Received this in my subscription box. I liked it. My skin has improved but I’m unsure if it is down this or another product which I started a week after. At £89 for 30ml it’s not cheap but if it’s this product that’s made the difference to my fine lines then I would repurchase. I’m still using the other product so we shall see. Tbh I’m hoping it is this product because the other serum is even more expensive! 😬

1 Million Eau de toilette sample spray. It was nice enough but I have other fragrances that I prefer.

Geek and Gorgeous Stress Less serum. Good stuff, definitely did reduce redness and calmed down any angry and inflamed areas. Would purchase again.

- Drunk Elephant Lala retro whipped cream moisturiser - I absolutely loved this and so did my skin. I have other moisturisers to get through first but would get this again. Pricey but worth it.
- Kerastase Bain satin shampoo and conditioner - I’ve had so many compliments about my hair since using this, my hair loved it. A little bit goes a long way and whilst using it I was able to go an extra day before washing my hair. I was worried before trying I would love it and now want to repurchase but going to wait until a good deal comes up for it.

Final empties of the year!

Torriden Dive-In Soothing Cream: I like a gel moisturiser for daytime as I find it works better under makeup. This one had a lightweight texture and it sunk in quickly. I don't think I'd repurchase it as I didn't find it hydrating enough for me.

Revolution Ceramides Hydrating Cleanser: This was the third bottle I've used of this product. I liked the initial bottle but it had been reformulated and wasn't the same. I won't be purchasing it again.

I managed to use a total of 46 products in 2024.

I started doing some decluttering as I plan to really pair down my makeup collection in the new year.

Barry M Bold Waterproof Eyeliner in Black - I used up three quarters of the pencil but unfortunately it dried out before I could finish it. The lead literally fell out 😂 It's a great affordable black eyeliner, easy to use and nicely pigmented.

ELF No Budge Matte Shadow Stick in Vintage Suede, Cool Beans and Thrift Shop - These were nice matte eyeshadow sticks that worked well as eyeshadow bases and as eyeliners. The Vintage Suede colour looked a bit like baby poo on me though. Sadly these all broke out of the packaging.

ELF No Budge Shadow Stick in Magnetic Pull, Champagne Crystal, Perfect Pearl, Rose Gold and 2x Bronze Metal - These were all nice, smooth metallic eyeshadow sticks. The only one that was a little chunky was Champagne Crystal. As with the matte ones these all broke off in the packaging.

I tried to depot some Nars products as the rubberised packaging had gone all sticky and nothing would remove the stickiness. The packaging was also crumbling so it really put me off using the products. I used the pin and dental floss method I remember a friend raving about years ago. I did have some casualties though. Namely single eyeshadows in Coconut Grove and Bombshell and duos in Brousse and Cordura. Fortunately I wasn't too fussed about any of these shades. Going to try out the ones I did manage to depot to see if I want to keep them or declutter them.

JVN Complete Pre-Wash Scalp Oil - Absolute crap, do not buy. It would rinse out of my hair and it got weird chunky black lumps in it way before the product use by guidelines. Yuck.

JVN Complete Nourishing Shine Drops - Made my hair considerably frizzier and unmanageable whilst also making it greasy.

In total I decluttered 41 products in 2024.

2025 will be a no buy year for pretty much everything, converting to a one in one out once I've used up some of my "stock". Here's hoping I can beat this year's numbers! 😊

Only thing I’ve found works is scraping the sticky away with a blade. But, I feel like once it’s past this point it’s probably for the bin anyway. Just helps if it’s a makeup brush grip.

I chucked a bunch of stuff recently, lots of Palmers I can’t stand the smell off and can’t see past that even though they’re great products, some MUA eyeshadows that had gone, I don’t know, like they’d got wet? Rate them highly though. A floris fragrance empty I adore but is too expensive to buy again - “Cefiro” - it’s the cleanest fragrance, like CKOne on crack. Lots of “The ordinary” actives I used alongside each other and inconsistently so never really knew what worked. A “Tropic” body cream I was given but never really used, nice enough but not nice enough to compel me to use and I’m anti MLM products.
I want to streamline going forward but lots more to chuck. I do need a good body cream though.

Rubbing with surgical spirit on an old facecloth definitely works. I used this method on my old Naked Basics pallette, it takes all the coating off back to the hard shiny plastic.

Sad to read about the Revolution Ceramides cleanser, I've been enjoying it as a second cleanse.

I tried everything, nothing worked. Then whenever I opened one of the compacts the plastic started crumbling and the metal hinges fell out. It put me off using them so depotting was a last ditch effort before they went in the bin.

The Revolution Cleanser is a weird one. I loved the initial bottle I bought so went and bought another two on sale. Unfortunately the reformulated version just wasn't the same. It was thin but clogged the pump. The longer I used it, the more difficult it became to wash off.

New year resolution - Once I've used up all my skincare and makeup, I'm just going to keep 1 good quality thing of each at a time. I despair looking in my drawer and there's 4-5 face moisturisers half used, serums, I've got 4 foundations on the go, body moisturiser and hand cream coming out my ears from christmas gifts 🤦‍♀️ can't wait to use them up and get rid of the clutter

First empty of the year! Greendoor deodorant creme, which lasted almost exactly to the date one year :D I bought it January 4th and it claims to be enough for six months, so this is a really good turnout. I always thought it lasted longer with my previous jars but now I have proof. Was my third jar of it, already have a new one lined up, seriously one of the best deodorants I have tried.

I'm going to try this as I always seem to be replacing deodorant.

i can really recommend it, not only because it lasted me such a long time. I've tried spray and stick deodorants for many years and always got smelly after some time, didn't matter which brand it was and whether it was antitranspirant or antiperspirant. This Greendoor stuff is a natural type, so it doesn't stop you sweating (which I'm okay with most of the time), but it genuinely doesn't smell on me after a few hours, which always happened with the other stuff.

473ml bottle of Cerave hydrating cleanser. I really rate this stuff, think this was my fourth bottle and they last ages, however I hate the pump. Impossible to get the last inch or so out without diluting it and then it’s still a mess. I also wish they just sold a refill pouch. Haven’t repurchased because of this reason and will try something new.
