Loving this thread. I have pretty much decided on all my skincare and hair favourites so now I'm using up all the 'also rans' before I'm allowed to purchase my favourites again.

Have finished up:
- two Aldi day creams, both had active anti aging ingredients which I don't want any more as I use prescription tretinoin in the evening and want something very bland for the day.
- two conditioners, one was my son's strawberry kids stuff that he thinks he's too grown up for now one was Mane n Tail. Have repurchased my favourite, 'Bond' from Aldi (Olaplex dupe).
- one multivitamin with collagen, will repurchase but not until I've finished the half empty bottle of normal multivitamins.
- looking forward to finishing a greens powder that I'm adding to my smoothies. It's ok but not as nice as the chlorella greens I purchased afterwards. But doggedly working through it so I can go back to the nice stuff !

Still to go: lots of body lotion! Why did I buy them when I never use body lotions?

Ouai Chill pills- Don't waste your money! they hardly had any scent and for £26 for 6 you want to at least be able to smell something. You might as well just treat yourself to a Lush bath bomb!

No empties for this month but I did declutter some items.

ELF Blush Palette in Light - I got this as a GWP and have only ever swatched it. I have so many other blush I actually use, it just doesn't make sense to keep it.

HnB Cosmetics Soft Focus Loose Powder in Banana - Another GWP. This looks far too yellow for me to use, I'm very fair, so I'm going to pass this on brand new.

Revolution Soap Brow - Another GWP. I really don’t understand this product so will be passing it on brand new.

The Saem Mood Up Duo Eyeshadow in Mellow Pink - This eyeshadow due was in my advent calendar. It's a nice duo but the matte pink has a weird grey undertone on me that gave dead vibes and the glitter eyeshadow ended up everywhere. Will pass it on.

Etude Dear Darling Water Tint in Cherryade - Another item from my advent calendar. I've not tried it but swatches online make it look more strawberry red, which look awful on me, so will be passing it on.

All of the above items have been sent to my MIL to pick through alongside her nursing colleagues.

Barry M Waterproof Eyeliner in Gunmetal - A nice gel eyeliner pencil in a deep grey. Unfortunately I'd not used it in a little bit and the lead fell out so in the bin it went.

I had a declutter of my MAC single eyeshadows and got rid of the following shades; Brun, Coquette, Cork, Espresso, Folie, Handwritten, Mystery, Romp and Swiss Chocolate. These were all old, some the texture felt extra dry, and shades that are too dark for my tastes now. In the bin they went.

End of quarter 1 review... I have decluttered 18 products and used up 10. I have bought 3 new replacements for a total of £8.48. I've also hit pan on some makeup products so feeling like I'm making progress in the stuff I'm using up. Not too shabby!

I’ve finished my second bottle of Garnier shampoo, and I must say, this line is fantastic for normal to dry hair. It leaves my hair feeling soft while preserving its natural oils. I definitely recommend it!

Finished this, don’t know if I’d repurchase, it felt nice and smelled lovely, but wasn’t very hydrating for an oil, plus it feels really mundane compared to my l’occitane almond shower oil, so I’ll probs pass on this next time.

That's one I was considering, I'll pass then if it doesn't compare to L'Occitane. Rituals is another one I'm looking at,
I've read Aldi has a "great dupe" but can't find it instore. Can anyone confirm? I feel like the idea of 'dupe' has been diluted though, people use it for anything that's the same sort of product but cheaper when really it should be for things that are pretty much identical.

Recent empties: boots version of corsodyl which I swill after water flossing just in case I buy this as it’s cheaper than corsodyl. I have sensitive teeth/gums so only a few times a week as it does stain apparently?

Avene eau thermal - love this, will buy on repeat forever to hydrate between layers of skincare.

eucerin 5% urea original - on my nth repurchase of this as it is fab for the many stubborn dry patches I get

nyx brow pencil - on my nth of this as well, exactly like the Anastasia one and 1/3 the price if on offer.

Just finished a Ouai hair mask, lovely mask tbh, but not for me. I prefer other ones more

for some reason, this whole process has made me realise:
1. How easily influenced I am
2. How much of a harsh critic I am

so basically I buy a lot of shit but I’m never happy with any of it. The idea of it always seems better than the reality!

It’s so true, you can have 10 of something but as soon as you see the 11th you think “hmm maybe THIS is the one” I did this with brown mascaras, bought them and disappointed they looked black on me. Kept repeating the process every time I saw a new one to keep being disappointed

I've also get seborrheic dermatitis and the Aveeno wasn't good for me. It also did nothing to make my hair look or feel good.
I can use H&S fairly long term and Vosene and BS Ginger for a month or so at a time. Selenium Sulfide Selsun is my go to if I get a flare up and it generally clears it quickly, it used to be on prescription but now you have to buy it on Amazon. Betacap lotion helps if it's really bad.

I'm desperate to find something 'off the shelf' that doesn't scream "dry scalp" from the bottle and smell/feel medicated but spend a fortune on things that used to work or that'll work for a week then flare me. I might give this Garnier a bash for the price, I remember the conditioner being alright

The Aveeno didn’t work for me either. The only one that helps me is Keratase dermo calm. Pricey but it lasts me at least 4 months.
Empties for me this week:
The Ordinary hyaluronic acid: I found this very gloopy. The inkey list one is better so I won’t be repurchasing
M&S apothecary calm body wash. Absolutely loved this, have purchased more of the range to try
BeautyPie Japanfusion cleanser: I’ve repurchased this about 15 times, I can never be without it and it is the sole reason I have a beautypie subscription. I absolutely adore cleansers but this is a firm favourite

So? Bali breeze body butter - I wear the body spray before perfume and I really really love the smell (I’m sure I should be embarrassed about this) - gift set was cheaper and the body butter turned out to be nice too (trying to resist buying another gift set)

Philip Kingsley elsaticizer mini - one of many finished up over the years (advent calendars and hairdresser freebies) and I’ve another in the cupboard - it does leave hair very soft

l'occitane verbena shower gel mini - used in the bath with some oil, I felt fancy. I’ve a few things from advent calendars to use up, excited to try almond shower oil

Collection filter finish in lightest shade - love this stuff and I’ve got the next shade up ready for summer. When (if ) I ever get through my other base products I think I’ll just use this and concealer

Collection pressed powder - powder foundation is just not for me

Peach dr paw paw lip balm - I stupidly bought all the colours a while back. The colours don’t do what I want and they aren’t smelling the best so trying to power through them in the house (I also got a gift set for Christmas). As an aside I am enjoying the overnight mask (advent calendar) even though it’s a real challenge to extract from the tube

Perfect thread for today - finished my pot of Righteous Butter body moisturiser! Used a little bit extra to finish it up so now I'm in my PJs feeling WELL moisturised

Dettol antibacterial soap my only empty this week. This has been crucial in dealing with my body acne and I suffer with hyperhidrosis so this just makes me super clean smelling fresh. Just opened a new bar.
It’s very drying so I have to whack a load of e45 on afterwards but worth it.

I second what @Codiaeum said, it’s good stuff. Or if for any reason you have red, sensitive or reactive skin the LRP Toleriane is really good but more expensive.

I think if you’re only going to cleanse one a day better to do night that morning, you skin does not really get dirty whilst you sleep but in the day all manner of pollution and diet will get onto your face.

Oh god don't. Not sure I'm team cup anyway, not gonna beat myself up for hoarding san pro. Tbh cups should probably come with more info on pelvic floor etc. Anyway, we move.

It's disappointing for a product aimed at solely women to miss out on providing that much needed information. It's a failing on part of the company imo.

Quite a few empties this time…

Ouai Scalp & Body Scrub travel size - this was a GWP. It smelled lovely. I didn’t use it on my scalp but was nice on my body and left my skin smooth. It’s £36 full size so I’m unlikely to repurchase.

Odacité Soul Soothing bath soak travel size - a beauty box item. This again smelled lovely and was nice in a relaxing bath. At £27 full size I’m unlikely to repurchase.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer shade Vanilla - this was fine. Concealed well enough but there are others I prefer so I wouldn’t repurchase.

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day dry shampoo - another beauty box item - this was very good. Unlike cheaper ones, it didn’t leave a white caste on my hair. I don’t use dry shampoo very often but this worked well. However at £25 for a full size I just can’t justify spending that much money on another.

Templespa Toning Essence Mist - I received this in my subscription box. I wasn’t keen on the smell of this - it was too “herby” for me. I don’t think it made any difference to my skin either so I wouldn’t repurchase.

StriVectin Tightening Neck Cream - a subscription box item. This made zero difference to my neck and at £49 I wouldn’t repurchase.

Freya + Bailey Peep! Eye cream - subscription box item. I wasn’t keen on this for 2 reasons. Firstly, one pump dispenses way too much product but you can’t do a half pump so a lot of product was wasted. Secondly, I hated the smell. It reminded me of “Loveheart“ sweets - sickly sweet and not a fragrance I want on my face.

Paradox Repair 3 in 1 conditioner - another subscription box item. It was a conditioner, I don’t know what else to say really. I’ve never found a conditioner that has “wowed” me and this was this same. It did what it’s meant to do but nothing exceptional. I did like the silver pump dispenser though. At £20 I’d not repurchase.

Soaper Duper Shea Butter Body Wash - bought this years ago and it got stuck at the back of the bathroom cupboard. Wasn’t keen on it - it looked like melted chocolate so it looked like I’d done a dirty protest in the shower! It’s discontinued now but I wouldn’t want another anyway.

So 9 items and not one repurchase! Although I would buy the Living Proof dry shampoo if it was on offer at a more reasonable price.
