I'm up in the frozen north so it's not been too bad. It got to 26 today though. The designated kitten room only has french doors and no window and we can't open the doors obvs. His horizons have therefore been widened today so that we can get some through air from the east facing front to the west facing back. He's therefore been expanding his chaos but been enjoying the non carpeted floors in the front. Again, can only have the windows on the little latch so I'm glad it's not too hot. I really feel sorry for everyone having the high temps. A colleague was sharing his poor cats photos today with them stretched out looking for somewhere cool :( I think we are dropping back to 24 tomorrow. The temp today has been the highest of 2026 here.
I have a spare room that is totally unused atm, full of junk I'm.sorting out so dark, cool.etc. thought cats might like it as they seem boiling. Put them in there (with the door open) the hissed and ran outside

Same.

Downstairs is a comfortable temperature but, no, Jimmy and his mass of floof must go up to the bedroom where it is roasting and stay there. I switched on the fan for him which he didn't like so lay on the bedroom floor instead.

Ive put the fan on Cleo, she's currently lying on the living room floor as she seemed quite hot. Didn't help she was sitting on the windowsill with the sun beaming on her 🙄

Given how much cats hate wind, how is she dealing with a fan? Any cat I've had would put it's paw in it and lose a few toebeans!

She was liking it! It wasnt directly on her but she was getting a slight breeze. She fell asleep for a bit.

My boy has finally worked out that the indoors is better than the outdoors in this heat but he is of course sleeping on his favourite woolly blanket rather than the nice cold floor, refusing to drink any water etc etc.

Cats gotta cat, I guess!

I relocated my sheepskin rug from the family room prior to baby boy's arrival. However now he has the run of the downstairs he's taken up residence.
Aw. I remember our cats when I was growing up absolutely adoring a sheepskin rug.

The only thing I would warn you about is how traumatic it is when the cat pukes on the rug...

I spoke too soon. 30 degrees here and rising, and he's gone out. Just hoping he's under a nice shady bush in the breeze.

This is a recent replacement, the original is packed up in the loft needing a clean. I've researched how to do it but not done it yet. You can apparently pop it in the washing machine on a wool wash and dry it flat in warm air but not direct sun. But it's a quadruple rug and I have a standard size machine. We bought it when my children were babies and it's survived them and a cat from kittenhood onwards and is still in decent condition. Brushing with a pet brush and a good shake seemed to work.

He's very very good about using his tray but will not go in it if it's the slightest bit unclean, he will meow and touch at it and let you know that he wants to go and he already peed in it 5 minutes ago  he hasn't puked at all yet 🤞 Lucy wasn't a sicky cat so maybe he wont be either. I've had others in the past that loved a wee puke down the back of the sofa!

6 degrees here (sorry.) Perfect snuggle weather but Sue's in her angry box and Thor's sleeping.
Pooh would've been hanging off my arm like an old lady's handbag, bless him.

Boss#3 has been sleeping beside me in the chair most of the day. But this evening, she was on my desk, watching the mouse on my pc move. Then she climbed onto my lap!!!!!! 😻 I'm so happy 😸 she is on my lap right now 💝 She hasn't done this before. She has been with us 4 months now.
Also she is scheduled to get spayed early next week, all going well. I took out the kitty onesie we used for Boss#2 and it's so cute and seems like it'll fit Boss#3 purfect!!!!!

We live in a two bedroom flat, and have no kids. 20 years ago when we moved in, we thought "Wouldn't it be lovely for our three cats to have their own room?"

Um, nope. The little buggers pooed and peed all over their room. Despite having several litter trays throughout our place.

They had the full run of the place, but as I now understand, they were clearly trying to establish their own territory in a new house. They were only a few months old when we moved In.

I still miss them. Our eldest of the litter passed in 2023 at the grand old age of 18.

Apologies for the miserable trip down memory lane.

Our current three cats are amazing (and crazy.)
