Thanks so much @MaineCoonMama for directing me to this fabulous thread. I have just had the best time, mixed in with some sadness, looking through all the posts. My goodness, so many beautiful cats, it's a joy to see them, especially as, through the volunteer rescue group I'm involved with, I see horrendous things all the time. I'm so glad that there are people like the wonderful cat lovers here who help to restore my faith in an increasingly brutal and dystopian world.

This was my late, much lamented Bunty. I took her on when she was 15, and she astonished the vets by living until 23! She was a real fluff bucket, but unable to really clean herself due to arthritis and a lack of gnashers, along with the merest hint of dementia; so she had to have a kind of lion cut every so often to keep her from mats and discomfort.
As an insomniac, she was my companion of the night hours, squonking away at me between her naps and treats.
Adorable girl. A real softie.

23! That's truly amazing and she's a real beauty. We all have that one cat we never get over, mine was my Pooh Bear. He's the tabby in the photo here cleaning my girl Susan's head. We lost him at 12 due to kidney disease and I miss him so much, he was my best friend.
He just loved to love everyone.
Such a beautiful photo of your beloved Pooh Bear grooming Susan. So precious. It's so hard to lose these beloved companions, they're family and mean the world to us.
When my late Mum was terminally ill with catastrophically treated ovarian cancer, we had a darling black and white rescue cat, Claude, and he was so loving and affectionate, and so gentle with Mum when she was suffering badly. He suddenly became very ill with cancer himself and had a traumatic end due to an inexperienced vet's incompetence when it came to euthanasia. Just horrendous, and Mum and I were completely grief stricken. Not long after, Mum had a grim death, and she and Claude stay together in my mind. They had such a close and special relationship.
I remember you telling me about Pooh Bear on the other thread, and I fell in love with his photo and character, he was undoubtedly a very special boy x
Oh my word. My mum had a cat called Bunty, lived till she was 20 my mum was a teacher and found her in the playground as a kitten so brought her home. Brings back so many memories and lovely to see another Bunty

This is my lovely Beau, who died a couple of years ago at 18. He was the sweetest, gentlest fellow.

It's spring here, apparently we're in for a hot summer so I spent a lot of money ($360 AUD) on some good quality clippers for the cats.
Neither my husband or I have ever clipped a cat before so it will be interesting to see how they turn out.
We also have a new air conditioning unit so perhaps won't be doing the full lion cut, perhaps just along the sides to keep the mini-bears a bit cooler.
