I’ve been pretty put off by her since her doc, she seems like a mean girl. Rumour on the street is that she was trying to make a song with that Chainsmokers guy (the one she was seen with a few times but denied dating this(??) year) but she was too high and drunk to make anything of note and started coming on to the producer. Called him up a few days later to apologise, asked him to go bowling and magically there were paps there and she was drunk again. This girl really has the best PR in the game honestly, they’d have you believe she’s an angel

It makes me now think of the times she’s come across nice and genuine was that just an act. Yeah her documentary I thought she came across quite rude at times and playing the victim a lot. I get that everyone no matter how rich you are we all have things we battle with and go through hard times including Selena but she sometimes she sounds like moaning about first world problems and it doesn’t make her come across well.

That rumour with the chainsmokers guy and her allegedly coming on to the producer that wouldn’t surprise me at all if it’s true. A few years ago there was a rumour that Selena was messaging and slept with Justin Theroux right after him and Jennifer Anniston split up and Selena and Jennifer were supposed to be great friends apparently and somehow Selena was able to convince Jennifer that didn’t happen so Jennifer believed her and they’re still friends. Yeah there’s a possibility Selena was being honest but I wouldn’t be surprised if her and Justin Theroux agreed to keep it secret cause Selena does have a sly streak. Apparently her friend Francia who gave her the kidney got mad at her for drinking a lot and that’s what made their friendship not be the same anymore. To be honest there have been videos/ clips of instagram lives of Selena were she looks and sounds tipsy /drunk and thing is if she wants to drink that’s her choice I get that but I wonder if she drinks to distract herself from how unhappy she is cause I think this whole “oh I’m so happy and so happy being single” is very forced by her. She seems quite bitter even all these years later she isn’t able to move on from the Justin situation.

I understand she’s had mental problems and I’m not judging if she does have a drinking problem cause sadly many people do but I think she takes out her unhappiness on other people. She has the best PR you’re right they always make her look innocent like an angel and everyone else is to blame. For some reason she decided to be active on social media which was a mistake running her account herself and commenting all these things for drama and attention and I think she got a bit addicted to social media the last few months cause some of the things she posts her behaviour is weird. If she’s still like this 5 years after Justin got married then what will she be like if Hailey ends up having a baby? Will she have a break down or do something to cause more drama for attention. Justin is not perfect either maybe he led her on it does look that way but whatever happened it didn’t end well between them but I don’t know what Selena is expecting from him it’s been years he’s married whether it’s a real happy marriage or not she has to get over it and move on cause something is not right about mental state lately with how she acts. I’m telling you this whole situation will still be going on in 10 years time I’ll be shocked if Selena ever let’s it go.

I know this thread isn't about justin/Hailey, but does anyone else think it's odd that Justin posts so much about Hailey, but she hardly posts him? Her Instagram is always pushing her beauty products. Justin's rarely mentioned, and when he is it's like one line, whereas he'll post a paragraph about her

Part of me thinks she might feel insecure posting him because people will turn it into "you're using Justin for likes"

(But then again I'd say she was using his success when she tried to trademark Bieber for her beauty products but Justin stopped it)

I feel like she used social media more for business purposes to be honest.

I like Selena as well. She's not the best singer, but she is fun to watch in Only Murders in the Building. She's a cool (comedic) actor. Not everyone can be an Oscar worthy talent.

I agree that Selena sounds tone-deaf. She always does when she tries to speak on more important topics. I'm sure it's coming from a good place, but she cannot put her thoughts into words. Like that infamous BLM tweet.

Happy to see someone agree with me I’ve been torn to shreds on Reddit because of her mental health/lupus not once in the documentary does she acknowledge her privilege properly. I still like her and will still enjoy her in Only Murders in the Building but like I said the interviews she’s given leading up to this are much more revealing.

It was also very obvious to me that she was on drugs in the opening scene, which I think they try to sweep under the rug as a time her bipolar flares up

This is my biggest issue with Selena. She types before she thinks. That being said, I don't know what else she could've posted since it's obvious she chose not to mention Francia. You don't just forget about your best friend (who gave you her kidney).

I guess something like, "I'm thankful for what Francia did, but we stopped being friends," would've been better.

Francia attended her birthday in July/August so they were still “friends” in some capacity - the whole thing is chaotic and I really do feel for Francia, especially considering she was basically forced in to the kidney transplant situation by Selena and the doctor

Anyone who CONSTANTLY says things like “I’m a kind person” , “my heart is so pure I wish people knew my heart” and plays the victim every single time , that is the type of person who probably isn’t an nice and innocent as they try to convince you they are. I’m not saying she’s all bad cause nobody is perfect and I’m not trying to take away from the good things she’s done or achieved but the poor little me I’m so innocent and nice act I see right through it. Nobody can convince me she’s over Justin either.

Every time the selena/hailey stuff calms down, she posts something to whip up a storm again. That Samantha Jones sound she used not long ago? She knew exactly what she was doing. She's not a dumbass.

I actually feel very sorry for Hailey. Imagine knowing no matter what you do, people are going to side with Selena regardless because she's so 'sweet and wholesome'.

Her being so far up Nicola Peltz Beckhams arsehole is a good indicator of the kind of person she is, I think. Birds of a feather.

As a big (understatement) Taylor Swift fan, sometimes it saddens me to know she probably enables and approves of Selena's behaviour and entitlement. Unless she's daft enough to be manipulated, too. She's a smart cookie though so I don't see it.

Don’t get me wrong she’s had catchy songs that get stuck in your head and she’s collaborated with other artists on songs and most of the time those songs are catchy too but honestly take away the auto tune and the music videos , Selena really can’t sing in my opinion. She’s pretty and in all honesty her looks aswell as her popularity from Wizards Of Waverley Place is what got her to were she is today. Also the Justin drama has kept her and Justin relevant for years that’s what most people associate her with at this point cause of how much she’s gone on about it and used it for her career which is a shame cause if you’re becoming a business woman building a brand you should want people to think of that when they hear your name.

She got very lucky with her career and I’m not taking away the fact she’s been successful with rare beauty and she’s achieved other things in her career she’s making money but when it comes down to her singing ability all I can think is if she wasn’t famous and you just heard a voice recording of her singing most people would laugh and would say she can’t sing who is telling her she can sing yet because she’s Selena Gomez she gets to have a music career cause her name being associated with anything sells. It’s crazy to me cause I’ve heard people who are not famous or aren’t that famous who have amazing voices but then you have someone like Selena who can’t sing but gets to be a singer. Yeah with auto tune it makes her songs sound good but that’s not really talent if without auto tune you don’t sound good at all. I don’t even think her acting ability is that great either I just think she got very lucky. That might be an unpopular opinion.

We’ll have to agree to disagree on that not being much different because personally I think it’s night and day how different those ages are and what your mental maturity goes through in your late 20s..

As a 30 year old this statement has been completely untrue for me and all of my friends. By 26 we all had careers and places of our own, some were already married and had kids. We were already fully grown adults.
Maybe there’s some people who are still childish at 26 but I don’t think it’s the norm, especially not in Hollywood we’re people are forced to grow up quicker than they need to.
If she’s still not fully grown at 26 then what is she doing being a married woman?
It just seems you’re using age here to make it seem like Selena is worse than hailey when they’re just as bad as each other

What I don’t like is Selena blaming everything on her fans and everyone else and never taking accountability for the drama and hate she causes and encourages. I find it very fake that she’s acting all concerned and friendly towards Hailey now yet was happily liking and commenting tiktoks that were hating on Hailey and kylie. She’s had WEEKS and only chooses to speak out now? if she hadn’t commented on all those tiktoks it would not of reached this level.

It seems to me she was enjoying the hate Hailey and Justin were receiving like it was a way for her to get at Justin cause it’s clear she still holds resentment and anger towards him as well as not being over him. I’m not big fans of any of these people cause they’re all wrong and weird in their own way and there’s more important things in the world to worry about but I hate how Selena always makes herself the victim somehow and never apologises for sitting back doing nothing letting drama and hate unfold that she played a huge part in supporting and encouraging.

Her fans saw she was bothered by things Hailey and Kylie were saying and doing so therefore the fans jumped to her defence which obviously wasn’t needed that much in the first place as there was no need for drama at all. For years Selena did interviews talking about how hurt she was being replaced in her relationship with Justin , how Justin emotionally abused her apparently and her song lose you to love me talks about how she was replaced with Hailey and how much pain it caused her so obviously her fans hear all of this and are going to have negative feelings towards Justin and Hailey because of how Selena feels cause that’s how influenced huge fans can be they listen and follow to everything the celebrity says and feels. If Selena said she hates the colour blue , her fans would start hating the colour blue so if Selena doesn’t want people feeling a certain way and being influenced by her maybe she should be careful with what she puts out into the world cause she talks about how she only advocates for kindness yet has thanked her fans multiple times for having her back and for making tiktoks hyping her up and putting other women down.

I think she gets away with causing drama and problems cause she blames it completely on others and for once I wish she would take accountability cause she uses social media she’s quite active on it so there’s no way she’s not seen the amount of hate towards Hailey.

Don't really know much about her other than who she hangs out with.

Saw the documentary and found it very eye roll inducing. Like when she starts crying because she's apparently worried that she didn't do her sing good and the exec would be disappointed that he signed a dumb Disney kid. Then half a dozen people and the exec reassure that she did do her sing good. Didn't seem genuine.

Presumably her team had sign off on it all (unlike the epic totally Scott Lee).

That crying scene you’re talking about really didn’t seem genuine. Was she even actually upset cause it sounded like she was putting on a sad voice trying to force tears while knowing the camera was filming her. I don’t think that documentary was that good it seemed too staged in certain parts and not natural like she tried to make out like it was. Before anyone even tries to say you’re hating on her you’re a Hailey fan lol I’m not hating on anyone or an obsessed fan of either of them but I just think there’s things Selena does that are weird and wrong which she should be called out for cause anytime anyone tries call her out for something or tell her she’s wrong she plays victim and her fans don’t want to accept the woman isn’t an angel.

@OmgObsessed Selena has to be one of the most attention seeking celebrities there is. Using her fans the way she does is wrong I agree. I’m not sure if it’s cause she’s desperate for attention or very insecure and jealous of other people or maybe it’s just a mixture of all those things but it does across like it makes her feel better about herself when she can get her fans to hate on another woman’s appearance and give her all the compliments instead. Hailey is obviously Justin’s wife so by people hating on Hailey it’s like a way for Selena to get at Justin like look all these people hate your wife and think I’m better so it’s your loss. It’s like it gives her a confidence boost which is sad cause she should be moved on focusing on her own life. I’m not saying Selena is the worst person in the world cause there’s been times I’ve thought she’s come across fine or I’ve felt sorry for her but then when I look at things from a different angle I realise she isn’t always as genuine and innocent as her PR team want us to believe.

Honestly, I just wish Taylor Swift would bin her off.

They’ve been best friends for about 15 years but i feel like if they met now they would never be friends. The 2023 version of themselves are very different people. I like Selena and think she’s relatively harmless but she seems to have gotten less mature and developed more of a victim complex with age. Also, i hate to say it, but she doesn’t seem very smart (based on things she’s said and done) while Taylor has a good head on her shoulders. With that said, they’ll probably remain friends for life because Taylor cherishes the few friends that have stuck with her through her low moments and Selena is definitely one of them. She’s always had her back.

I think it was last year? when Selena said her team handles her social media because she hates spending too much time on there as it’s not good for her mental health. Think she needs to hand it back to them for her own sake.
