the documentary was boring and revealed nothing new or interesting about her in my opinion.
at the end of the day she is a celebrity and rich, she will never be relatable, she is surrounded by people who cater to her every need and will always be able to afford the best possible healthcare and therapist. I don’t think she’s necessarily a bad person and probably can’t help it, but the whole thing just left a bad taste in my mouth because it came off a bit virtue signally esp. in the Kenya parts. she also comes off incredibly self absorbed. but then again I don’t think she can help that because she is worshipped by her fans and surrounded by people who would never say no to her.
if anything, the documentary made me realise that I have no interest in celebrities’ lives anymore. it can be interesting in terms of “watch how rich and famous people live their lives” but ultimately it’s nothing but depressing for the average viewer. they will never be normal people and normal people will never be like them. if you are poor and unimportant, nobody really cares about you or your mental health. Selena is out of touch and extremely privileged and never even seemed to acknowledge that
