The rumours have circulated for YEARS and are all bullshit. I have a friend in the Met who gets exasperated by these stories. Do you honestly think the police would put themselves in this position to knowingly let a supposed p'edo walk the streets whether he was an actor or not, there would be uproar if they did? How many celebs since Saville have been sent down, they didn't hush those up so an OFAH star wouldn't be any different. Other than him renting out his house years ago to a friend who it turned out was have sex parties (DJ promptly kicked him out) there is NO dirt on him. Same as Cliff Richard, he's a private gay man who's been with his partner for years, no gossip there either. Its just a story that gets rehashed and never squashed but tarnishes people's reputation. Nothing will come out after his death (maybe a few nutters pretending he touched them up to make a buck or two) because there is none.
To be honest, the Met isn’t a shining beacon right now and is a bloody mess so I wouldn’t trust many of them with anything until it gets an overhaul and goes back to separate districts.

I'm sorry, are you trying to imply that if I don't report my rape and sexual assault, that I am part of the problem? Has it not occured to you that I just MAY have already weighed up the pros and cons of reporting it?

I am absolutely horrified that you have seriously just said I am "letting the person off". Your naivete would be endearing if it wasn't so breathtakingly offensive! I didn't realise that we live in Narnia, where we can all merrily report what happened to us, at no personal cost to ourselves and our loved ones, because 'hey, it's worth a punt, fingers crossed eh?' What if my version of justice isn't the same as yours? Did that ever occur to you?

My version of justice, is that the guy is a total animal, and crimestoppers have a statement to use if anyone else ever reports him. But that's where the personal outlay ends. That bastard doesn't get to live rent free in my head. He doesn't get to make me discuss my sex life on the stand and divulge really personal stuff. He doesn't get to take that amount of time and effort from me. He doesn't get to have the power of me caring about a verdict in court.

He raped my body but he sure as tit doesn't get to rape my life. NOT when I had had a consensual relationship with him prior to that day and therefore couldn't prove it. Is that clear enough? Or do you want extra details about why your comment is both ignorant and offensive?

Edit: also, while there are absolute dinosaurs like you who think the 1.2% of false rape claims is actually an avalanche of "nutters" making false claims, you are one of the reasons why reporting rape and assault is a massively bad idea. Rape Crisis state that for every "false claims" there are literally hundreds of actual rapists who walk free from court because the evidence isn't quite enough. With people like you caping for them, and seeming to view false reports as on a parity with actual accusations, who would ever believe a woman in a he said she said scenario?

Anyone who falsely reports a rape deserves to feel the full force of the law but honestly, rapists don't need you to white knight for them and save them from "nutters". The legal system as it is does that already.

Your comments are naive, offensive, contradictory and lack emotional intelligence and nuance.
I didn’t report mine either. And I didn’t report the man who hit me repeatedly in a relationship I had 3 years ago.

The first because I was in shock, alone in a different country and ashamed. The second man because I’m still scared of him, know he’d retaliate…and ashamed.

Love to all survivors on here. ❤

I have no opinion on David Jason, but wanted to point out that your friend in the Met is most likely no better informed than any of us here.

If there was a Met investigation it doesn't mean your friend would know unless they were directly involved. It's not as though they send out a weekly staff newsletter detailing all of their investigations, is it?

Any investigation into David Jason might not even be led by the Met. As others have said, they don't have a great track record with this sort of thing, plus a lot of OFAH was filmed in Bristol, he lives in Buckinghamshire etc etc.

Even if your friend knew something about a current or past investigation, it would be illegal for them to say anything about this and they could lose their job for doing so. Maybe their exasperation is with you asking them to break the law?

Finally, solidarity with other assault victims who have decided not to report. This is a very personal decision often taken to protect ourselves

I like Miriam Margolyes, I see her as a colourful character in a sea of bland.

However, she likes to give off she’s a socialist vibes. She is obsessed with money. She owns a lot of property. She lives in a big house in London. She built her own home in Australia. She has a house in Tuscany where she was for most of lockdown, a rental holiday cottage on the coast (it was used by drug smugglers, it was raided, nothing to do with MM she just rented it out), maybe more. She is rolling in it. She does Cameos for hundreds of pounds a go. That’s without all her acting gigs, tv work, voiceovers. She is a Tory in denial.
I dislike her and after reading that, I dislike her even more.

Good on her for making a huge amount of money but don’t pretend to empathise with people who are struggling to either heat or eat this coming winter.

I guess if there is an NDA then they can’t report, however it is only British tabloids that can’t report so you can find a lot about who they are by reading US or Irish rags. Some of the older NDAs were openly reported abroad.
Funny you should say that. There is a story on the Irish Independent website today about Mountbatten the paedophile and the upcoming court case. No mention of that in the UK press today from what I can see.

Sending love ❤ to survivors of any form of abuse. I’ve been in that situation myself, when I reported to the police the advice was just to leave. It was a number of years ago and attitudes were different, although it seems like things haven’t improved greatly. Nobody should be judged on their decision on whether they reported any assault or abuse or not. The focus needs to shift to perpetrators, not to those who were wronged (sorry for weak choice of word there). Whether someone is a virgin or they have slept with 500 people doesn’t mean they deserve rape or abuse. I can’t blame folks for not coming forward. But you are survivors and worthy of all the good things that happen in life

Wishing all survivors of any kind of abuse much strength and love. It's never the job of the abused to take action, even if it could save other women. The responsibility lies solely with the perpetrator to stop abusing.

♥

There is one thing I’m sure of, as night follows day, for the love of all that’s holy…Johnny Depp needs his facial hair back quick smart.
He now looks like a teaching assistant named Julie.
Jeez he really does!! What happened to the shape of his head?

Does anyone else think that Helen's husband was intimidated by her being clever, capable, successful and beautiful, and so felt he needed to downgrade to someone more on his own level?
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Yes I totally think this,Helens profile has been massive the past couple days of years and him being a nobody I bet grated on him

Christine McGuinness might also be thinking about her own children. She might not want them to find out about a secret sibling right now, given how much they must be going through with their parents separating.

I think talk of who is ‘too powerful’ is often more about what the media is prepared to say rather than the police. Many years ago when he was the country’s darling - happily married, England captain and never booked, small children, one of whom had leukaemia - I was told that it was an open secret that Gary Lineker was a total shagger but no paper would print anything - in the days of big kiss and tells - because the backlash from bringing down a national hero would hurt sales. I think that sort of thinking still lingers in these conversations.
I heard he did a deal to speak about his sons illness in exchange for media discretion?
he has a dreadful reputation by rumour….

This is the reason I don’t want Eddie Izzard becoming a local MP and it’s got nothing to do with her being transgender. According to the internet, she’s worth $20 million. I take that with a pinch of salt, but she’s been a very successful entertainer for a long time so probably has a few quid in the bank. One of the biggest issues in Sheffield at the minute is the crap bus service. I can’t imagine she’s had to spend 45 minutes in the cold and rain waiting for missing buses to get home after a long day at work (like I did last week) for many years. The whole thing just smacks to me of a bored famous actor/comedian looking for a worthy cause to be a vanity project for herself.

Eddie doesn’t live In Sheffield either so why run there? Aren’t politicians supposed to represent their local area?

One can have loads of money and also be a socialist. I would saying that actively doing something or supporting a cause that's for the greater good would be a proviso, though, as opposed to lip service without actions.

I live in a red wall area and we've always had Tory MP and councillor candidates who live nowhere near. Our current MP lives in Lancashire I think, and sometimes they'd be from the home counties.

So sorry to all those victims of abuse who feel like they can’t report it, I fully empathise. It’s easy to sit on the sidelines and say you should report it but I know it’s easier said than done.

I supported a friend who reported a historic child abuse against a family ‘friend’ and it almost broke her. She initially went through family turmoil and disbelief and then the police grilling and then the reliving it through the courts. There were so many times when it felt easier to stop (like when she’d initially been told she could have a screen between her and her abuser in court but then later told she couldn’t). She carried on and got victory in the end (if you can call 4 years victory) but it was such an exhausting emotional rollercoaster.
