I once won a Twinkle colouring competition, the prize was a Sylvanian Family set.

I actually still have the little letter telling me that I won. It's in a drawer, somewhere 😊

Also, for a bit of balance i don’t accept bloody Sheridan Smith as a “nations sweetheart” either!!!

Remember that weird era when they were trying to push Cheryl Cole Fernandez Varsini as one? 😂

You say that, but not so long ago Teen Cosmopolitan was providing useful guides on how to do anal sex...
How times have changed. When I was a young teen I needed advice about which flavoured lip gloss to buy, and how to talk to boys.
( leaves thread to go and iron crinoline )

This thread is like a parody today -“I draw the line at saying why someone was ill” (even though that was a while ago & they’re now better),
and then few mins later “it’s so obvious he was fucking that lad” (cos he’s pictured with him)….
People are funny.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💀💀💀

It all sounds marvellous but don't succumb to an 80s perm 🤯

No chance! 🤣 I did that once and lived to regret it.
I also used to have those old Clairol bendy curlers they promised so much and delivered so little.

That guy Schofield did a character reference for appears to be living with him, he provided the reference in 2018 so you have to wonder why the tabloids want us to know now. I’m wonder if there’s even more of a story there with this latest guy…time will tell.

For those that don’t follow the Philip Schofield thread, the much younger guy who he provided a character reference for and appears to be living with also appears to be some kind of gigolo/porn actor and there are numerous very explicit nude photos of him on Google.

Random fact: you might know this, but Fray Bentos is a place in Uruguay and that's where the original corned beef was made. I always used to think it was someone's name!

They met when they were both at the RSC. She was just being given crowd scene parts & getting nowhere and he was getting lead roles. He befriended her and persuaded her that her future lay in writing/comedy not acting and he went on to direct some of her stand up shows. He seems to have been very supportive. She has struggled with depression and there’s a bit in the diary where he and his wife go to visit her when she was in The Priory* - which he brilliantly describes as “a place for the unhappily sane.”

* For those from not around these parts who may not know,The Priory is a psychiatric/rehab hospital frequently used by British celebs.
Ruby did a few shows at one of the Priory hospitals when I worked for the Priory. Alan Rickman came to watch. I will never forget speaking to a colleague in reception and hearing Alan drawl to the receptionist 'Darling, I'm here for the show'. Course we all fell over each other to help him find his seat. He had such a lovely presence about him, it made my day getting so close. 🤣

🤣🤣 no they didn't

And him using being gay to deflect from the mounting bullying claims against him was awful and not progressive for gay people at all.

Also, for many many people him coming out wasn't exactly news

National treasure gets thrown around a lot, most of the time it's not true or self promotional PR spin. Linda Robson even called herself it on loose women, and she really isn't.
Hang on, Linda Robson referred to herself as national treasure? As much as I enjoyed the early days of BOAF, she's hardly that. OK then I'm going to refer to myself as Cindy Crawford if we're going down that road of self delusion!

The 80s were the BEST !
I used to sit by the front door after school every Wednesday waiting for the paper boy to deliver Smash Hits …. You had two deliveries in those days. Take me BACK !
Did anyone else used to cut the lyrics out of Smash Hits and stick them on the record sleeve. Or was I just a weirdo?

Watching Strictly. Tony Adams did a samba to The Full Monty. Good telly. Looked him up. He used to go out with Caprice.

Am I imagining this, he used to be called Donkey because of his big Willy?

Edit Looked up -it was because of his playing style not his appendage.

I love gossip as much as the next person but I also feel disclosures about someone’s health should be off limits. No shade on posters who make those posts but they make me feel really uncomfortable
fully 1000% agree - it isn’t gossip.

no matter how famous a person is, they deserve to undergo treatment or hospitalisation privately and peacefully under their own wishes. my heart broke for sarah harding when the sun (i think?) happily broke that story about her having breast cancer treatment and again it was other patients who broke her trust.

I completely agree and I think it's intrusive and not gossip as such.

A very close family member has recently been diagnosed with a form of cancer and people at work are talking about it - it's none of their fucking business and this man wants to keep his cancer journey entirely private. As it is, I'm constantly having to fend off questions. The reason people know is due to a major breach of confidentiality involving a member of NHS staff who is related to a workmate. I am angry and sad and struggling to process everything and the last thing I need is to be the subject of staffroom gossip about something so upsetting.

Therefore, I have every sympathy with famous people dealing with potentially life limiting disease in their own way, and no-one should expect regular health bulletins.

And I have probably completely outed myself by posting this but it's not Mumsnet and not the end of the world if someone works out I'm whatserface from down the road.
sending much love to your family member 💙 i’ve had a close relative go through cancer treatment too and it’s a hard and invasive journey. the idea that another patient, or even a doctor in the treatment centre, could have been watching and then happily going online to say “you won’t believe who i saw!” etc is awful. the man was (presumably) having chemo or radiotherapy, have some decency.
