So Andrea Mclean is starting a MH support website for women charging £40 a month for membership as its her ‘vocation’. If she truly wants to help women she should not be charging. She earns enough money not to have to charge.
Exactly what qualifications does she have to do this. It is dangerous. Professionals go to university and take about 5 years to train in this profession.

The RSPCA aren't the charity they used to be. They are useless and only care about making money. Not animals.
I can vouch for this, I once had reason to call them in an official capacity to ask for their help in obtaining refuge for the large collection of cats an elderly person who had suddenly died had left behind. As a devout cat lover I felt sure that the RSPCA would go out of their way to assist us, the police, and was disgusted by their dismissive no-can-do attitude; pretty much ’What do you expect us to do?’ etc etc. My attitude towards them changed from that moment on and I remember it every time I see a RSPCA advert seeking funds. 😡

I met Dawn French at an airport about 25 years ago. She was a total misery and I’ve never liked her since. Lenny Henry was with her, they were still married at that time, and he was a grump too.
I’ve heard a lot of people say that she’s rude in real life on multiple forums. Someone on the Daily Mail said that she clicked her fingers at a flight attendant then said “you know who we are, speak to us when you are spoken to!”

Please don’t use the idiotic expression ‘Karen’. It’s very disrespectful - and intentionally so. Unless the person in question is a really called Karen, of course😉
I so agree and people who are called Karen must get fed up with it.

The footballer Andre Gray (AKA Mr Leigh-Anne ‘Little Mix’ Pinnock) has been fined £200 by police for hosting a poker party at his house on Saturday. This would be the second time this year he has been caught breaking lockdown/Tier restrictions. So you can imagine he’s done it way more than twice.
It boggles my brain. I’m an essential worker (not NHS) and we all take our responsibilities so seriously at work. I’ve barely even done essential shopping during lockdown 2. Had to make a singular dash to a shop because I ran out of cleaning products but that’s it. The sheer audacity of people to think they’re above it all. Of course I miss my mates and my family, but I’d like to make sure I don’t inadvertently infect my loved ones with covid so that we can pick up where we left off when it’s actually safe to do so, rather than take a risk now that might cost someone their life. Surely that’s just basic common sense?!

I used to do online competitions a lot (need to get back into that). I won Jimmy Choo Man EDP + Jimmy Choo EDP (gave them as Xmas gifts), Penhaligon's Douro (given to brother) - and - memorably, a pair of tickets to a Glasgow XFM gig (I quite fancied the Noel Gallagher's Flying Birds one and didn't get it) hosted by the detestable Moyles.

I tried listing them on Gumtree for sale and there were no takers.

Ended up putting them in the bin. Unfortunately, that doesn't count as a voodoo curse on Mr Moyles.
I used to comp too. Really wish I had time to do them these days. I especially liked tiebreaker comps, "I should win because... " type things.

I won VIP Kerrang! Awards tickets on Radio 1. Got put up in a swanky London hotel, transport to and from awards and sat on R1 table. Nemone and Zoe Ball were soooo lovely and very beautiful. Was an amazing night, I was a bag of nerves, as my idol at the time, my noise-god-absolute-object-of-lust (who nobody has ever heard of, so I won't bother to name check) was there and up for an award that night and won it! After a few drinks, I plucked up the courage to talk to him at the aftershow party. He was really edgy and so sexy I nearly cried. Soooo not my coolest and finest hour.

I won Brit Awards tickets with a London hotel included. We left after Outkast played, it was boring. Outkast were bloody great though. Heeeeey Yaaaaaaa!

Won a weekend in Amsterdam, to see live and meet / greet Scottish Indie darlings Travis. (Lovely, funny chaps). With flights, a five-star hotel on Dam square chucked in.

Won free Monarch flights to a destination of my choice. So we went to Turkey. Great holiday.

Wedding suit hire for my wedding. (Although I'm now divorced!)

£500 TK Maxx vouchers.

£300 John Lewis vouchers.

Mobile phone.

Fireplace.

Year's supply of Mr. Tom peanut bars.

Damn, I obviously need to get back into this!!!!

@Miss Demeanour you’ve certainly not had it easy, sending you a virtual hug ❤
Ahh. Thanks matey. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger eh?

I try hard to focus on my blessings. Yes, I've had a lot of bereavements .We're struggling having lost our jobs and taken lower paid ones (thanks Covid!), But we've got each other, our health, a roof over us and food in the freezer. Many folk aren't so lucky. I like to try and put my woes into perspective.

Sidenote: I started doing Deliveroo a couple of weeks ago on weekends, to top our money up without having to commit to anything and it's actually great fun and not bad money.

My issue with charities is how manipulative and aggressive they are in their targeting of older and more vulnerable people. When my nan died I was shocked at the post she got and also how many charities she had already signed up to.

Minx was a poor imitation of more! if I remember correctly. I used to buy all the magazines, no matter how shit. Thank fk for the internet and me stopping that awful habit.

To be fair I did bin Cosmo years before the rest after it ran an article on how to apply makeup at bedtime so that you still looked pretty for your man in the morning.

Woohoo, I've never been brave enough to start a thread so thanks for this!
Just thought of a very small-time piece of gossip I have.
Friend of mine is an actor and was in a stage show with Lionel Blair. Apparently he was super forward in trying it on with all the young male actors to the point of it being uncomfortable.

Gary Lucy?
Jeff Brazier?

I read something a while ago about Gary being a bully at school
Also there were some unsavoury posts on here about Jeff Brazier
Gary Lucy did one of those 'meet and greets' at a local nightclub here when it first opened. It was when he was in The Bill (2008)

He was awful!!!!! A lot of women reported on the facebook page of the club that he'd refused to have pics with them because he'd called them ugly - he refused autographs unless he thought the girl was worth his time. Called a girl who was stood with her friend a fat see-you-next-Tuesday because he'd thought she was about to approach him and didn't want to speak to her.

He was engaged with a kid at the time! (and went on to have another three and marry the same woman)

Dave had split up with his wife and then Chris took her on holiday. Presumably as more than friends. You don’t do that to your friends - well unless you’re Chris Moyles apparently

Spencer Matthew’s low alcohol company office is located right by my house. In the first lockdown they had a party that must have had easily 40 people attending. As I write this they are currently having a Christmas party- there are at least 15 people indoors drinking and socialising. No social distancing. It infuriates me, and I have reported it to the police.

And don’t get me started on the work calls I overheard them have in the summer- they pay a company to buy their products and leave fake reviews. I even heard them say to include a couple of 2 or 3 star reviews to make it look more realistic. No eavesdropping required- they were having loud conference calls right outside.
report to the media.

Lots of chat on Corden on this thread. But I could never not love Gavin and Stacey.

Old Christmas special is on at the mo, this exchange was so fleeting but with Ruth's deadpan delivery, I was laughing my head off. Dave Coaches proposes ..

Stacey: Oh my god, this is so immense. You're getting married Ness. To Dave Coaches!

Nessa: I know.

Stacey: Is Coaches his surname. Will you be Nessa Coaches?

Nessa: No.

Stacey: Where you gonna do it? Where you getting married?

Nessa: I should imagine in the mosque.

The subtle jokes in G&S were always the best.

Another one that sticks in mind was this scene.

Nessa: Got any double A batteries?

Gwen: No, Why?

Nessa: Ok, I'll borrow them out of the remote, you don't mind do you?

Gwen: What do you need them for?

Nessa: I'm having some 'me' time.

Cut to Nessa coming down after five minutes

Nessa: I didn't need them in the end.

Nessa starts chatting whilst subtly washing her two fingers under the tap.

Funnily enough, she was one of the ‘national treasures’ who first came to mind when I was writing that post. Another was Bruce Forsyth who was notorious amongst my former colleagues for being stuck-up & obnoxious when they encountered him. Another ‘national treasure’ Barbara Windsor was surprisingly ”all airs and graces” in real life when I spotted her waltzing about in Harrods many years ago behaving nothing whatsoever like the down-to-earth ‘cockney sparra’ she is always portrayed as.
I’ve heard very little stories of them being nice in real life. Especially Cilla who was apparently a nightmare. I recall hearing somebody saying that they were working on a plane that Cilla was on, you had to speak through her assistant so one of the flight attendants leaned over and said “I knew that you couldn’t sing, but I didn’t know that you couldn’t talk.” 😂
