Just catching up this morning and feel physically ill. There a lot of vehicles moving on site and now they are bringing in portacabins?

This doesn't look to me like they found one single body. I hope I'm wrong but usually it's just a pathologist tent and then removal.

Yeah, that’s odd why would they still have that much manpower and vehicles still there if human remains are already found. There’s more going on.

Anytime I’ve seen a news article on a murder usually the place has a tent over the body and several police and cars with a few forensics not an entire police force and lab department out with them

This is such a desperately sad case.....I can’t imagine how her poor family are feeling

Just posted about this on the other thread. It certainly looks like they are gearing up for a big operation. Really really hope they don’t find anything more sinister.

Yes - I think we would have heard of other women had disappeared? Unless he has done this over 10-20 years.

It could just be possible that the body is so damaged that they need a bigger operation than a 'normal' body would?

I feel like the dots would have connected or starting to connect if other women had gone missing around the area tbh but who knows
This is true but remember the victims might not necessarily be from the area. He took this girl from south London.

I’m actually still in shock a little bit about this case. It seems to have had the same impact on pretty much every other female I know, regardless of age. I think part of it is exactly what @Tippingpoint23 said about Sarah doing everything ‘right’. And there hasn’t been any speculation (rightly or wrongly) about her personal life either - they seem fairly certain she wasn’t known to her attacker, her movements that day weren’t in any doubt. It seemingly could have happened to anyone...

I think it's interesting but also very uncomfortable in a way that a bunch of people have pointed out that the area she was walking through was known to be rough so she was taking a bigger risk or something along those lines.
I don't agree as I imagine it's probably a common route for her, the fastest or the only one (plus very strong undertone for victim blaming) but it is this odd question of does it actually contribute to your risk? And if so, how can that be mitigated?
I live in the area and it's not what I would regard as rough (even though that's irrelevant if it turns out to be the bleeping cop). It also annoys me that they say she walked through the common. From most of the maps, it looks like she walked down the A205 which does run through the common but it is a major very busy road! It makes it sound like she was walking through the wilderness! Obviously it still wouldn't be her fault if she was walking along the grassy area, but it just pisses me off so much.

This has truly shocked and upset me.
I'm a similar age to Sarah and have often walked home alone after dark.
Years ago I worked at a local service station and would finish my shift at 11pm. It was a 10 minute walk home and I never even thought about the risk I was putting myself at.

The ‘through the common’ thing is really annoying me too - it really makes it sound like she took off through a park which she didn’t at all! (Of course agreeing that even if she had it wouldn’t make it her fault, but it just gives people who do question the ‘risk’ of it more fuel)

Well I don’t want o sound callous but I was surprised initially that there was so much heat in the hunt for Sarah. Purely because sadly people go missing all the time... same as people get killed all the time and it’s not always front page news. There could well be missing women we dont know about yet. He could have been operating for a long time. He also could have picked women that were not reported missing... homeless women etc

I can’t stop thinking about her. What wouldve happened if she left her friends a few mins earlier or later. What would happen if she never went to her friends. What if she went a different route home.

Literally within minutes her life was stolen. She woke up that morning feeling fine then the next morning she’s not here.

Yes exactly this. Her friends and family raising the profile of her case almost definitely helped the authorities IMO - not every missing person case has this sadly

I did even see the odd “retort” post of “yes Sarah everard is missing and we want to find her, but so is x”

Even walking through the common you’d expect to be ok, it’s well lit and there are always people around. It just shows that you can literally do everything ‘right’ and everything advisable and still get targeted.

Yes, I wonder did he get cocky this time and thought he could get away with snatching someone random who no doubt would be missed.

Of course all of this is conjecture.

But why would she get in? The last place they saw her was over halfway home? I just can’t imagine an instance where she’d get in? 😞
He might have flashed his badge and told her he noticed someone following her ..

She was a student at Durham once I think? Not currently but yeah.
I have seen a police man in Durham help students carry their shopping and generally just speak to them, especially if it's dark out. They also apparently police the river that runs near the Bailey colleges to make sure people don't walk there when it's dark and the like. I'd say the police there is seen to be very accessible if you need anything, and I would imagine it would reinforce the whole thing of police=safe mentality, which in all fairness is a good one to usually have
