He can sit there and admit he did those horrible things to her but he didn't act alone. Feel like this was their plan, for him to admit it so they can walk free.

What I want to know if will the judge stop the trial now to see if US wants to change his plea. Because surely his plea does not match with the statement he just made to jurors?
Even if he's admitted to killing her, the other two are still guilty of causing or allowing the death of a child. They're as bad as he is because they watched that poor little girl be tortured by that scumbag

It was dramatic scenes, he interrupted his cross by BB's barrister to dramatically admit he was responsible for everything. He then went on to tell Carberry (BB's barrister) that he caused all Sara's bone fractures. The Times says the jury was 'openmouthed in shock' and the judge sent them out. BB has also apparently left the court in floods of tears.
They'll surely be found guilty of familial homicide if not the actual murder of that poor girl?

I read a lot of true crime especially I enjoy reading about cases which cover the eventual trial and there have been cases, some big murder ones in the UK is the past, where the defendant has actually changed their plea mid-trial, which they are allowed to do. But the judge takes it very seriously and will question the defendant himself with the jury not present to ensure that the defendant is not being leant on or intimidated in any way, or feeling under pressure to change their plea to protect someone else. There was a big case in the 1960s, one of the Glasgow gangland ones, where exactly this happened and the defendant changed their plea to Guilty of manslaughter halfway through because they had a change of heart and the judge sent the jury out and questioned the defendant for a good hour to understand his motives and make sure that he fully appreciated what his change meant for him. They then had to pause the trial for I think a couple of weeks so that the defence barrister could construct an entirely new case based on admitting mansalughter but still not guilty of murder. So that may provide a guide or precedent as to what may happen in this case. It is a big big big deal. You can't just have a defendant interrupt proceedings to claim full responsibility and then have the trial go on as before, it changes everything. BB's barrister will probably have to change her entire game plan too, and the other guy's barrister.
That poor child was taken out of school (probably a place of sanctuary and escape for her) and ended up being a house slave, taking out rubbish etc. I wouldn't be surprised if she had to do the ironing, despite him saying she didn't.
There was no home schooling and no checks that there was.
She would have spent much more time with BB than US but BB didn't try to get her medical care, or leave the situation with all the children, or seek help from SS.
I would be surprised if their house had more than 3 beds and there were 3 adults and 4 children and a baby. They were all on top of each other and nothing could have been hidden from each other. Her brother knew what was happening but was clearly too scared to act.
This case makes me so angry. I couldn't have children and when I see people abusing their parental role and treating their children like this I can't comprehend it.
I have two children and no matter how much they test my patience there has never and never will be a moment where I’d want to hit them let alone conceive upon anything these guys inflicted upon that beautiful wee girl. I feel bad enough whenever I’ve raised my voice at them in frustration.
They’re pure evil, the lowest of the low. They absolutely tortured her and I feel sick to my stomach thinking of Sara’s plight and the fact that no one helped her. No one. Did she ever feel loved? Was this her norm?

US seems to have married a polish woman to get EU citizenship and worked in various unskilled jobs, and run back to Pakistan when his daughter actually died of her abuse, which makes me wonder how much he really understood about living in the UK?
I have no idea of the answer to this, but is it acceptable in rural Pakistan, maybe in rural communities? to use physical punishments on children and wives?These kind of abuses seem to be sadly acceptable now in Afghanistan, where women and girls seem to have no rights left at all. And Pakistan is next door to Afghanistan geographically.
So maybe US thought he had an actual right to use punishment on his daughter, and has now realised that in UK law, he doesnt! So has had to change his plea?

He's thick but calculating. He seems to have got away with a lot in the past, maybe he thought he'd get away with this too by pinning it on his "psycho" wife.

Nah a person can literally not stand trial in the UK if it is shown that they are not capable of fully understanding the proceedings, eg a language barrier. They've got to know enough of what's going on to be able to understand the proceedings, this is why the trial and death sentence of say Timothy Evans in the 1950s was so controversial (and in any case he likely was innocent) because he had a low IQ and arguable didn't understand what was going on. There is a very good argument that has been made by several jurists and legal academics that the Bulger killers should not have been tried as adults because they were too young and ill-educated to understand what was going on, which I broadly think is true.

Oh nah don't give him the excuse, I will say this as a naturalised immigrant from a conservative culture myself - I am sure he understands British culture and values just fine, fine enough to work and avail himself of our public services etc. Don't give him the excuse. On physical chastisement of women and children, the Quran does allow light physical chastisement of one's wife but only once other non-violent attempts at 'correcting' her have failed. The Prophet spoke against hitting children. And torturing your own daughter to death is definitely not allowed by any religion afaik!
