Yes agree - didn't it used to be a big YouTuber thing - this 'unboxing'? She didn't really need to do a live reveal as it's not like an advent calendar where you want a surprise.I've just watched the IGTV video and I'm so confused why she was sent all this PR stuff and she didn't even bother to give it a cursory look over before filming? I found it so unhelpful, and quite difficult to watch with all the rustling and pulling at the packaging and boxes.
The woman from Milk makeup (a great example of Sali's awkward interview skills) or Bobbi Brown?ITBW started off as stuff in people's bathrooms didn't it? Like Marian Keyes and Brix Smith. I can't remember one for ages that isn't an advert for someone's launch with a look at other products at the end. One of the worst for advertising (though I liked her) was Drew Barrymore, also another American makeup bod whose name escapes me.
I draw a line at watching those. Her latest IGTV I presume
She's just not a natural on camera. And I'm not being mean, I don't think it's something that comes naturally to manyI draw a line at watching those.
There's a word my teens use to describe someone or something odd and / or suspicious. "Sketchy". I love it and think it's perfect for our Sali, because that's what she is - sketchy as F.....The kids say bougie for what we would have said the word "fancy" for. Apparently.
She's done it now hasn't she? Using youth speak and doing ITB with Jamie Genevieve (which sounds just like another advert for her new eyeshadow palettes masquerading as a cute little getting to know you bathroom chat). Credibility rating currently? Zero. Who the hell is advising her to take this route?
I agree, and I wouldn't be either, but the weird thing is she seems to have got worse over time? I don't remember her old guardian videos being as uncomfortable as anything she does these days (I don't actually watch her ITB vids or IGTV but see snippets on her grid/stories and they're always awkward). She's just not a natural on camera. And I'm not being mean, I don't think it's something that comes naturally to many
Oh god, when she's interviewing someone else, it's painful. The pursed lip disapprovalI don't mind her IGTV videos. It's worse when she's interviewing someone else. I don't even mind the in-between intakes of breath some of you dislike. What I object to is the misleading lighting which covers any texture or doesn't accurately show up the products.
I've remembered it was Kate Somerville I was thinking of. A very strange interview with no actual ITB but KS talking about herself and her brand at length. The woman from Milk makeup (a great example of Sali's awkward interview skills) or Bobbi Brown?
Interesting! I've never watched it, not even sure who Kate Somerville is to be honest...I've remembered it was Kate Somerville I was thinking of. A very strange interview with no actual ITB but KS talking about herself and her brand at length.
Oh yes and the Milk one too.
I would not take makeup advice from this person. Wrong foundation shade and an absence of blending point to not knowing what you;re doing.Anyone seen her IGTV this morning?! I was too distracted by her yellow cheeks and forehead to pay attention to the products.
Sali, love, you’re wearing the wrong shade of foundation. You’re not as bronzed as you think you are and it looks naff AF.

Yeah, I think it was initially an insult but the meaning has changed as it's become appropriated. It's just not a Sali word given her usual jolly hockey sticks vocabulary so using it to describe the contents of a box put together by a black woman and then to say "actually Ateh is quite bougie" is really cringe (to me anyway). It's like suddenly starting yas kweening in the company of black women. I may be off on this but that's how it comes across to me.The kids say bougie for what we would have said the word "fancy" for. Apparently.
she makes you feel uncomfortable watching, too spikey. I have only watched the first couple of minutes so far but was horrified at how bad her makeup looked. The eye colours look terrible on her and whatever foundation/bronzer she has going on just looks muddy and awful. She's just not a natural on camera. And I'm not being mean, I don't think it's something that comes naturally to many
I haven't seen it so don't know the full context but thought exactly this when I read your post. It's just not a Sali word given her usual jolly hockey sticks vocabulary so using it to describe the contents of a box put together by a black woman and then to say "actually Ateh is quite bougie" is really cringe (to me anyway). It's like suddenly starting yas kweening in the company of black women. I may be off on this but that's how it comes across to me.
Has she ever called anyone else’s boxes or collaborations “bougie”?! Or is this an observation she only reserves for people of a certain hue?Did she really call Ateh Jewel and her choices for her box bougie/boujee? Normal Sali language.
Also, I'm no expert, but I don't think it means what she thinks it means? Or has the meaning changed?
Quite. Forgive me, but I thought the point of her videos was to give us recommendations of QUALITY products, not just to shove in everything she has been sent by her mates.I've just watched the IGTV video and I'm so confused why she was sent all this PR stuff and she didn't even bother to give it a cursory look over before filming? I found it so unhelpful, and quite difficult to watch with all the rustling and pulling at the packaging and boxes.
A facialist to Hollywood stars, apparentlyInteresting! I've never watched it, not even sure who Kate Somerville is to be honest...
God, now I want to go and have a peek at the video.I didn't notice her bronzer or foundation shades to be honest. I was too busy being flabbergasted by the (baby poo) brown shade of eyeshadow she had applied nearly up to her eyebrows. Sorry Sali , but Imho this was the least attractive make up look I have seen on anyone for a long time. You're pretty lady, that took some work.
It's vile. I'm having a 90s flashback to when the only eyeshadow that myself and most of my friends ever wore was 'poo brown'. It went so well with our Max Factor panstik and Rimmel Heather Shimmer lipstick.I didn't notice her bronzer or foundation shades to be honest.
