Those candles were on sale recently on Bella Freud’s own site. I’m completely underwhelmed by the rest of the stuff that looks less ‘curated’ more picked wearing a blindfold.

Yep. And pointless if you don't like the fragrance. I find the Dennis Grossman packaging so wasteful too. I guess those plastic sachets aren't recyclable.

I'm curious about her not publicising the box on her twitter.

€155? Surely if you had that cash to spend you'd select your own most wanted products (my list is endless) and not Sali's ??

Eeuuww I wasn't aware of the Ginsberg stuff  . Apparently he was a founding member of that NAMBLA group. He said 'to call paedophilia criminal is ridiculous'. A two minute Google reveals this.
Bella Freud should be bloody ashamed calling that disgusting pervert a 'god'.

For anyone on GTL, what's the feedback? Are the Salinistas clapping like seals?
You would imagine they are as distinctly underwhelmed as everyone else.

I'm sure SH once wrote never to trust a man who hadn't graduated beyond reading Kerouac's On the Road. Her apparent worship of Ginsberg is odd given her sneering attitude towards the Beats. Oh and Ginsberg's documented support of NAMBLA. What's Sali's take on Polanski and Woody Allen? Can she name more than two Ginsberg poems?

If that box has really been at the planning and curating stage for the past year, then... well, her timing is unfortunate.

SH: I chose the colours of the box to be pink and red.I like pink and red. My second book is pink and red.

Miranda Priestly's voice: Pink and Red. For beauty. Groundbreaking.

A box with half a thought would also allow consumers to pick the strength of acid peel they wanted, not just telling users to leave it on for half the time, ditto which version of the CC cream for users with different skin moisture levels.
Or the option to choose a candle with a pweirdo reference, or one without. I'm just fussy like that

No mention of the elephant in the room here, her film column fir a film magazine which barely mentions the film.

The candle and the CC cream are weird choices in a box which is 'for everyone', because both are much more subjective and therefore more likely to end up unused. If you get the kit and sling aside the candle because you don't like the smell and the CC cream because you didn't get the right shade, then according to my (rough) calculations, you will have saved about £3 on each of the other four products (£12 in total using cult beauty's own prices).

CH has a better commercial idea - skincare only, nothing to really upset anyone's skin, very high end/niche products but in smaller sizes so the impression is of a much more 'prestige' selection, and all the products work together as a (supposedly) entire regime. And shamelessly create a new category of 'lockdown' skin because who isn't affected by that?!

SH's choice is more like a random lucky dip. For £130.

I wonder if this is Sali testing the waters before going independent a la Hirons in order to realise more of the revenue for herself?

I've noticed that her book has been pushed back to a 2021 release date.

I stripped my skin to buggery, leaving it sensitive and reactive to apparently innocuous ingredients such as Hyaluronic acid and silicone esp. dimethicone — try find stuff that doesn’t contain this!—from an M&S advent beauty calendar box a few years ago, so I’m definitely not in the “interested” demographic here.

But a 5-year old candle celebrating a paedophile and a cc cream that is veasy to get (had it years ago, Sali voice😂 obvs, and broke me out because of aforementioned silicone and was quite orange on my beef faced Irish complexion..)

... for £155*? Is that right? In a time of global abs social collapse? Seriously?!???

Maybe she did a deal with Bella to get rid of the candles that weren’t selling in her shops, you know, because of the pweirdo connection?

I am dumbstruck by literally how fecking brainless this whole caper is. Is there an antonym for “whip-smart”?

*for £155 I’d rather book a facial with Abigail James or another good facialist.

I don't know why I find that so funny (obviously I do not find paedophilia funny). I wonder if she used that description in her leaflet.
(I think it is actually a very purse friendly £130 😂 )

Anyone who has used that CC cream - is it really as greasy looking as it comes across in the video? I like a subtle glow as much as the next skidmark, but that would be too much for me.

I actually like it... won’t be getting the box though... but the CC cream isn’t greasy, it’s a thicker cream than you’d expect... i’d say it’s too thick for a subtle glow....
