Personally I suspect it'll be "Oh, but he's changed since becoming a father of daughters!"
Because men like him only ever seem to understand they're supposed to respect women after they've personally created one
After they own one that could be stolen or devalued by another man.
Men like this feel ‘dishonoured’ by another man having sex with the property they believe in their heart of hearts is theirs to have sex with if they choose to exercise that right. For most men the social taboo against actually doing so is too strong - but the fundamental beliefs remain.
Sorry to be the Debbie Downer second wave feminist yet again, but once you see it you can’t unsee it.
The ‘Daddy’s Girl’ trope is just a way of expressing this dynamic in a socially acceptable (ish) way / slightly less horrifically.
Cf. Beckham, gangsters, billionaires, any machismo culture. Ownership of the daughter has to be passed willingly to another man by choice, with a big show of it (wedding or these days other symbolic forms) or he looks/feels cucked.
The middle classes find it a bit too visible still so they try and avoid saying any of it out loud.
