We had this convo in F&D the other day but not remotely surprised to learn he’s from an ad agency background, he screams mediocrity and clearly has a lot of spare time in his hands to build this Twitter brand.
He’s clearly moved around a LOT gaining no real skillset but a vague enough knowledge to get by, until push comes to shove and he needs to have some some output so onto the next role he goes. Someone of his age (and, lbr, gender as he won’t have taken a career break for family) would expect to be stepping up the career ladder into a cushty c-level / VP of position, rather than taking the catastrophic falls he has.
Freelancing is GR8 for these MC self sellers because they’re often brought in out of sheer desperation so it’s 50/50 (or less than, to their favour) on whether they’re going to get any degree of technical interview. They can spend a few weeks
bleeping around underdelivering and then
duck off to the next victim/client.
Btw this is by no means all contractors, but considering how he describes his absolutely impossible skillset/experience, would you trust him with literally anything other than self promotion??
