She makes extra work for herself. I admittedly didn't go to Exeter, but I've just graduated from my undergraduate degree at another Russell Group uni and whilst it is a lot of work, it's quite easily managed and I had tonnes of time to do extracurriculars and have a social life. I think she's just determined to keep up this facade that she studies all day every day so she makes it sound like she's sooooo busy studying all the time.
Yes, this. I'm 33 for goodness sake and haven't lived at home for over 10 years. Lived on my own for the past 5. Still get homesick! Ruby has said before her mental health isn't always great and she was anxious about going back to uni and Covid (and I expect going back to living alone - or at least not at home), so in terms of her mental health maybe home is the best place for her to be right now. I do worry for her housemate though, hopefully she'll have found someone else to live with or she has chosen to do the same thing. Would be a bit mean to leave her on her own seeing as it's just the two of them! I do hope for her own sake though that Ruby can build on her independence a bit more. It was sad to see her feeling so anxious about someone getting into the house. Probably best for her to be home right now, but maybe not as a permanent measure. Shame, I like her uni vlogs! (I went to Exeter way back when, and it makes me feel nostalgic!)
Nah I do really, along with sometimes pretending I have cholera, typhus and smallpox. Would have just loved to be in the 19th century
I'd say her family's accent is a mix of Southern British Standard (common in the South of England generally) and Hertfordshire (which may be close to where they live, not sure of their location). Ruby's accent is a lot closer to Upper Received Pronunciation (what people would call the Queen's English or a 'posh' accent). That's why it's so jarring when she mispronounces words, but you don't expect it from someone with her accent/sound system.
It’s unlikely but it’s picking things up that aren’t essential. Why do you think people are making a big deal about cleaning surfaces and trolleys at supermarkets? Covid could spread from someone touching something that someone who is infected has touched like a book. Obviously I’m not criticising ruby because she’s followed all the rules but this annoyed me because it’s so not essential, there was no reason to pick up books that she wasn’t buying

0%! I go to uni with a lot of private school kids and the ones that are just regular people are fine. One of my flatmates went to a really good private school and the only issues I've ever had with him is that he occasionally doesn't get it when I talk about being working class. It's the ones that constantly talk about knowing all the other private school kids because they played lacrosse against each other or whose only conversation starter is asking where your favourite place to go skiing is that get on my tits.
She is absolutely loaded as far as I can tell, her family home looks like a grade II listed building lol
