I know this has been said before but I can’t shake the feeling that Ruby may be autistic/on the autism spectrum. I’m autistic myself and I feel like I can read her from a mile away, her special interest in Victorian lit/culture/children, her intense need for routine, her need to have a script for social interaction.. I might be wrong and obviously it’s Ruby’s business but I just wanted to put this to bed here.

Yeah I am autistic as well and she is very different, but I think its because she doesn't have comorbid ADHD and APD like me. I do see why people think that she is autistic, maybe that is why she had therapy as a kid? I was 10 when I got diagnosed.
I think it's so interesting that she chose to keep that part in the video. Yes, for some people that might be relatable, but getting in such a state is so out of proportion with the problem at hand.I really hate seeing anyone get stressed out or get upset, I feel bad for her but this is too bleeping muchI honestly have no clue how she will cope when she leaves university and has to deal with actually stressful situations at work and things like that...
Also putting "University students don't get weekends" in the thumbnail is such an exaggeration - at least for the majority of students, you shouldn't have to work all weekend to get your studying done. She seems to have such a persecution complex, as though she needs to be studying 24/7-365.

Her saying that is so out of touch, most university students (myself included) don’t get weekends because we had to work part time jobs all weekend. Pre pandemic obviously but the majority worked part time, got course work done and still had time to have a life as well. Would love to see her try and balance an actual job with scheduled hours (not YouTube) around uni as I can imagine she wouldn’t handle that very well at all
During my time at uni I’ve come to the realization that the saying “students don’t get weekends” is often true for two reasons
1) besides uni you have a part time work
and/or
2) you get to just randomly take a Wednesday off, because you feel like it / are hung over / need to do something big for a society etc.
To Ruby neither applies, so once again she shows that she does not get the concept of ‘work smarter, not harder’

I almost feel like she does the opposite of the Parkinson's law thing - she comes up with busywork tasks to fill her days, because she's terrified of having nothing to do that isn't 'worth something'. I feel like she doesn't want to be left alone with her thoughts.

She reads from three books and writes in three journals every night before bed, and sets 62 alarms for the morning.
Yeah I thought multiple alarms for when she doesn't have anything pressing in the morning was a bit odd. I'd only set multiple alarms if there were something I absolutely couldn't miss (e.g. a flight, my thesis defense) so it be awful if the batteries ran out on one.
And I've never lived genuinely out in the country--surely it still isn't a good idea to have the blinds not pulled after dark? She was doing yoga with her room lit while it was dark outside and I was just thinking how it would be so highlighted to anyone nearby. But maybe it's not an issue if there's no one nearby? Still disconcerting.
Gotta admit I occasionally do this as well (only if I'm living alone though; not if anyone else might need to use the bathroom). But to have preferences about what to read then is odd. Obviously some books are too nice to risk anything, but if that's what you're reading, surely you just...don't read while brushing your teeth then? Not start another book for the sake of reading while brushing?
It is exhausting to see how she follows her rigid routines. She even does activities in which a routine is mandatory: three journal (two of them 5-year journals, why two is a mystery), a learn-what-happened-on-this-day book... it's like she needs to force herself to do certain things. Maybe to have more sense of control or smth.
To be fair, that’s an Aga and they’re a PITA to clean, especially if you don’t do it regularly (which I don’t image they do). But the house is generally neglected, which is such a shame as it’s so nice.
I think it's acceptable if you are literally in the middle of reading something that's so good you could not put it down lol. I do this if I'm making tea or something but it seems like so much effort to get a book purposefully to read for two minutes as part of a larger routine. By the time you'd find the page etc you could have your teeth half done
duck me that’s a bit excessive isn’t it?
