The watchtime average on it must be dreadful. It's the singular most tedious video on the internet. Groundhog day in vlog format. She goes to the exact same three locations on repeat for 28 minutes straight, barely even bothering to change the angle. At one point she put three b-roll clips of the exact same window within a 20 second period. I think even her diehard stans will struggle to sit through this one.

I'm sorry, did she just spend two or three days at Stourhead? It's a National Trust property, you spend a few hours there. Walk around the gardens, do a tour of the house, eat in an overpriced cafe and then go home.

I saw this woman on IG reels who is making her own study plan to independently learn art theory and art history, and she reminded me of Ruby so much even though she was older and seemed way more competent. And I'm trying to understand why – I actually admire people with robust hobbies and people who keep learning new things, so what is it that makes me cringe at them both? Is it the fact that they post the process online and try to make content out of it? This woman was using a university textbook and had a whole desk set up for her studies, so maybe there is this schoolgirly aspect? I really try not to judge, but something is just off in both cases.

Because it's contrived. It's performative. In an academic setting they have study plans only because they need to test your knowledge. In independent study it should be led by curiosity. You should be gathering knowledge naturally by going down one rabbit hole, that leads you down another rabbit hole, which leads you down another. And so on and so on.

Under independent study, learning about art history starts by wondering who Van Gogh was inspired by. You study it. He was inspired by Monet and Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock prints. You study them to learn why he was inspired by them. Sitting down with a textbook and set curriculum is weird and categorically not independent study.

You know, I've been thinking a lot about study tube this week generally - and I honestly wonder what I got out of it when I was younger. People like Ruby, truly no hate, but 12 hour study days, beautiful neat desks, pretty notes... contrived is the perfect way to describe it. I studied for five years, and no part of me wants to remain at that age/stage of my life.

It's nice to have structure, but with personal curriculums, I feel it's sometimes people longing for simpler times (school/university). Like Poguely said, if you're being rigid, you don't have the fun of Wikipedia rabbit holes.

From someone who knows about yarn: 1) learn to knit, you could make something much nicer; 2) the kind of yarn they use is going to pill (any soft, loosely spun wool will); but 3) it’s easy enough to get rid of the pilling. Leaving it like that just shows you don’t care, and it’s not the flex you think it is to not take care of your expensive belongings.

I’m also willing to bet my lunch money that jumper’s never been washed, because Roobs would’ve shrunk it.

I can't tell for you but for me it's the oversharing. I am ( more like was in fact, times flies ) a roleplayer and I can understand the importance of creating a universe and put yourself in condition, so "playing" school can maybe help some to focus better, but first, you can make it less cringy, and second you don't NEED to share it. And not only for that subject, it's oversharing everything, the same way some were telling all their facebook contacts they'll be back because they are taking a shower now. Like... Who tf asked? And also the lack of efficiency. All that stuff for still being ignorant af, it's a very superficial knowledge at the end, compiled by her new bestie chat gpt.

I really don't get her, at all. Every time she has been accepted to Oxford she has waited for months to tell her viewers. Each time I think she is afraid of going, afraid that once she says she is going, she can pull that back and say she changed her mind. She was pretty quick telling us when she didn't get accepted for Undergraduate. At any rate, the idea of her needing funding is bizarre. They rent part of a manor. She owns a cottage that she rents out. She doesn't even work. She plays dress up all the time. OMG the freckles on her face when she announced this. Is she coming down with the measles? Everything she does is so weird. I can't even get excited about it, except to watch her crumble under the weight of a PhD, in general. She won't be doing anything with it anyhow, so what is the big deal? If I had an adult kid like her I would make them go to counseling, get a job and get out of the house and on their own. Her parents coddle her and are probably already sorry for it. The majority of the time she is in her house alone, playing some fake role, while the rest of the family is off working, living lives, growing. And the bragging at the end about her being the first in her family to go to uni. That didn't come off well, woman. But now we know your roots are all blue collar, so you aren't as grand as you think or act. Thanks for that peek into your background. Not an ounce of humility.

She's probably saving it for a new serie like "prepare with me for my PhD or PhD vlogs" which would start during the summer months.

I'm also wondering if she turned the PHD spot down the first time because she didn't get a grant... which she can afford on her own?
