No, that’s a separate account, she’s had it for years.

I think Ruby’s changed her tiktok name to Pumpkin Productivity? Obvs ramping up the business 😹
She made a TikTok video mentioning something about FUNKY PRODDINGRIVERTREE products now being available through the TikTok shop feature, I guess she couldn't be bothered making and growing a new profile and just awkwardly slapped the brand onto her main TikTok.

Her socials are such a lazy shitshow and you'd think between her and her management, they'd have the basic common sense to realise that just for basic brand synergy, she should put at least 5 minutes into writing these kinds of things to maximise the traffic driven to her other outlets for people who might not be familiar with her.

Instead, she has an Instagram for her main 'Ruby Granger' feed that does not link to her YEECHEEB channel (her main outlet for content and primary source of cash). It does, however, link to rubygranger.com - a website/blog that she essentially never uses.

She has a TikTok now named 'Pumpkin Productivity' with a bio that reads 'Literary outfits — because you should dress how you want to dress'. Do PONKUPOD TIFTEA sell clothes? Nope. They barely sell stationery. The bio does not link to the PONKINPOD ATIVTEEE website.

Meanwhile, the PUNKY PUDDINGPEAS Insta bio reads 'ACADEMIC PLANNER 2024/25 COMING SOON'. It released a month ago.

Hasn't she read Hamnet before? I'm too lazy to search (watching too much Ruby is bad for productivity!) but I'm sure I remember her talking about it before now.

I think she got this handmade Shetland cardigan in Scotland last year and already it looks like something a reclusive hoarder bag lady would wear.

Tbh it's all in her own video on the planner

Letter, Uncentered page example, Illustrations (still figuring out what June is supposed to be, chocolate milk in a teapot? very summer-eque indeed)

Note that the quotes are PRINTED, like they come with the planner :D joy

(I don't understand why she didn't pay a skint art student to sketch up some illustrations, instead of insisting on doing it herself)
Thank you for going through the video and screenshotting, I didn’t realise she’d shown it this thoroughly. I assumed because you’d highlighted so many flaws that she’d done a quick flick through.

She's definitely pretended to read Hamnet before. She's waved the book around in vlogs in the past and featured it in one of her yearly wrap-up videos, but didn't do a great job of convincing that she'd actually read it and just grabbed a few Goodreads blurbs. Apparently she's forgotten she pretended to read it already.

Ruby hated Little House on the Prairie because this book - written in the 1930s and set in the late 1800s - contained racist language. This is a common, blanket criticism from her about a lot of older books. And sure, it's natural to feel uncomfortable when seeing racist language in print.

But for someone who pretends to LOFF CLASSIC LITRACHAAAR and who signed up to study AARLY MODARN LITRACHAAA because she claimed to ADORE THE SOBJACKT, it's hilarious that she seems hopelessly incapable of considering the historical context of when books were written or are set while she's critiquing them. Instead, it's a recurring judgment from her regarding books written before the 21st Century: "THIS BOOK FEATURES RACISM AND SO IT IS BAD AND YOU SHOULD NOT READ IT."

Edit: just seen gossipguy addressed this (forgot to refresh before posting 😆) but thought this comment still adds even more context, because apparently the book/author wasn’t even racist - it actually had anti-racist messages.

Proof that Ruby has no critical thinking skills. Shocking for an English student. Another comment replied that they understood the message when they read the book as a CHILD.

Ruby says there was ‘racist language so was an uncomfortable read’ which I think is a very dangerous sentiment as books SHOULD be tackling uncomfortable concepts. Doesn’t mean the book is promoting them. I am really in disbelief that this is someone (most likely) going into an English PhD and isn’t able to understand messages in children’s books.

Also she just liked the comment and refused to acknowledge anything they said. Pathetic and embarrassing 🤣

There’s some pretty vile stuff in Blyton’s Malory Towers books (and most of Blyton generally) but Ruby loves those …

Surely the point is to engage critically with literature, not run away from it. What does she think is going to happen - that she might accidentally catch racism from a novel??

Oversized cardigans look good on some people, especially those who style them properly, but she wears them like some stereotypical dowdy spinster who bought them in a jumble sale.

She should size down so they look better on her frame.

I haven’t read those for years. Just out of interest what sort of things?
Lots of really nasty bullying, and the usual sort of jingoism, classism, ableism and xenophobia that you get in many books of that era. I say this as a huge fan and collector of 20th Century schoolgirl literature - Blyton’s books are terrible and aren’t good examples of the genre. I honestly believe that Ruby hasn’t really read the original Malory Towers books with any degree of scrutiny or an adult view-point, and is basing her ‘love’ of the books on the recent BBC children’s TV series which gives the impression that the dorms were decorated in Cath Kidston and the school was a happy place filled with happy pupils of all colours and abilities. It’s a total misrepresentation of Blyton’s books and it gives them a legitimacy that they don’t deserve. I am not a fan of Blyton and think that she and her books should be cancelled, not sanitised.

Were you aware of the widespread issues with all her products already and decided to take a chance anyway out of curiosity? Or did you like the design and expected a great, well-made product that fit your needs? No judgement, I'm just always curious what the story is when people who have spent time in this thread still end up buying something from her.
Curiosity, but I did at least expect the pages to be centred lol, and it's so unnecessarily bulky I've already switched back to a moleskin. Was pleasantly surprised when it arrived before September though

"The vengeance of the Greek gods is, as per, unbelievable" wow, what a deep, thought-provoking literary analysis! Definitely worthy of a first at
Oxford!

I’m finding her use of ”as per” just infuriating for some reason, and I can’t quite articulate why. It just comes across as facetious, with a heavy sprinkling of ”OIY’VE read SYO MANNY Greek tragedies, you peasants could never.” Just stfu Roobee, looking down your nose while you read a book millions have read before you (and millions will after you’re dust) is not a good look and just highlights your need to be perceived a certain way. Do I have Bacchae on my tbr? Yes. Is it there bc of The Secret History? Also yes. (Will I ever read it? Stay tuned, I have several decades ahead of me.)

I’m sure she’s patting herself on the back for having read all these books in one week. Two children’s books, one short play, one self-help book, a collection of the writings of Jane Austen from when she was A GARRRL. Oh and she may or may not have re-read Hamnet.

Jesus take the wheel 🫠

Want to know the best part?

She didn't read Bacchae. In classic Ruby fashion, she just read the Sparknotes study guide instead...

(Also note how she doesn't have a copy of the book to show, or an ebook open - it's just the Amazon product listing page.)

How embarrassing, I didn't even notice the Sparknotes tab. 😭

Every time I think I've reached my limit with getting second-hand embarrassment from Ruby, she proves me wrong.

Definitely. They have their issues (it’s a woman showing emotion, let’s sedate her!, and Joey just gets weirder and weirder as she ages) but they are surprisingly forward-thinking in terms of relatively nuanced portrayals - for the time - of non-British characters.

I’ve always been surprised that Ruby hasn’t ever really got into school stories beyond Blyton. There’s a world of adult fans out there and it’s a legitimate area of research that even has annual conferences that she could attend. She could make a whole thing about collecting the old books as objects and study something that she’d probably actually enjoy reading.
